I attempted to fill and obtain a Real ID here and Jennifer and Karen were some of the most condescending and unprofessional people I've ever met. Not to mention extremely racist. I am adopted "unfortunately" because my parents could not have kids of their own. Because of this with all my documents and paperwork I had correct Karen could not fill it because she "couldn't read it" even though it's in English as I am in fact a US Citizen. Enter Jennifer with a very condescending attitude and fake customer service voice she told me I could not use their location even though it is not listed on the AAA website nor the DMV website that they cannot process my Real ID here. They had a makeshift sign on their door which I'm convinced they printed from Microsoft Word also did not note I could not process this here because I AM IN FACT a US citizen by adoption. And then Karen mentioned because my original birth certificate is in Spanish I can go to the DMV because they'd have someone I could "talk to there in Spanish" and I'm literally speaking English to her, I don't even know another language. So not only is Karen extremely rude she is also a racist. I would never recommend this AAA for this town or surrounding towns because of these two unprofessional and racist women. We had a very disappointing experience using AAA Travel to book a trip for a large extended family group. Communication was lacking, decisions were made without our approval, and overall the process was not seamless. Our agent, Arshi, made a major mistake when booking our return flights by splitting up our group and separating minor children from their parents. It would have been one thing if families were kept together on different flights, but having children booked separately from their parents was completely unacceptable. In addition, some of the children were booked in business class while some of the adults were in coach, which was another example of a lack of attention to detail and decisions being made without our input. We then had to pay additional money to correct an error that should never have happened in the first place. We chose to use a travel agent because we expected expertise and careful planning. We didn't think we would need to explicitly state that children should fly with their parents. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend using AAA Travel. read more

My daughter and her boyfriend contacted AAA to get winched out out of a ditch in Tolland CT. Zero degree night in January. five hours later still no tow truck, and no AAA person to talk to for help. They finally canceled their request and made a new one at which point they were able to get somebody on the line who told them they were now at the back of the queue again because they canceled the first request. Fortunately, somebody was able to pick them up because they would've died out there in the cold tonight. Another crappy job by AAA. Absolutely horrific experience and do NOT recommend this location! I had a second appointment to get my real ID done due to needing to show my marriage license for name change. I got my license renewed before hand because I did not know you needed original marriage certificates to show name change. When I got back to the office for the second visit for the Real ID with the correct documentation and scheduled appointment, I was told I need to take another license pi ture when I was told when I got my license renewed I did not need a new picture. I was not ready for the picture and it came out terr. She would not believe I was told I could use the same picture as last time and was going to be sent a duplicate with a star. She was incredibly rude and I did not even get a chance to smile by the time she snapped the picture. She also charged me another $30 to get my picture taken again that I did not want done after being told the opposite. Then she rudely told me she knows everyone in this office and no one would tell me that. She offered for me to come back another time to take a picture and spend another $30. Will go to the DMV next time do not waste your time with this location! read more

Always a great visit at AAA.this was my second time renewing my License here. All staff was friendly but the Polish lady was AMAZING!!!! My interaction with her was just fun, and I could have stayed there all day and chat. What an asset to the company she is, making this a painless process with a smile and few giggles. One of the best memberships we have ever bought. Everyone in our family has used the emergency road service many times. We don't use too any of their other services anymore, but we sure used to get plane tickets and travel maps here in the pre GPS / computer age. We still get tour books. I cannot for the life of me understand what it is that other people are finding fault with at this AAA location. I completed a license renewal, address change, voter registration, had nothing but friendly and pleasant conversations with every employee that I interacted with, and was in and out in 5-10 minutes with several other customers being seen to before me. If paying $6 in convenience fees to renew your license, avoid the seventh ring of hell that is the DMV, and have your license mailed to your home in less than 20 days isn't a fair deal to you, then we just have very different definitions of what "fair" is. The employees were courteous and friendly, and the interior of this AAA was the polar opposite of the depressing, dingy, dirty, crowded surroundings of the DMV. I highly recommend coming here for a license renewal! read more

The place to go if you're needing a drivers license renewal, it's well worth the $3 AAA convenience fee. We were in & out in less than 20 minutes, much more efficient than CT DMV, of course. Even got a quote on auto insurance while I was there. Friendly staff, I'd be back again if I ever needed to use their services in the future. read more

I researched the requirements for a REAL ID before I went to AAA in Avon - I came into an empty office mid morning with approximately 4 employees and no customers. I said I wanted to renew my license and get a real ID - the lady asked if I had an appt and I said that from the DMV site (which mentioned this location) I did not see it was required and I apologized that I did not make it. From there the lady at the desk was pretty rude - she said in a rude way - "You have to have an appt here" (emphasizing the word "have") then kind of grabbed my license and said she could do it in an hour - I said I had to go back to work so I couldn't do it so she just said "ok" and handed it back. No follow up or sorry they couldn't accommodate me - nothing. I work in a government agency with the public and I would have never interacted with someone this way. I decided to renew my license online and get renew my passport for travel instead of getting a REAL ID. I'd rather give the Department of State my money this this AAA location. I will add that I have used this location before and always had a good experience, but this lady and her attitude and rudeness left such a bad taste in my mouth that I feel compelled to leave a review. This location is excellent and convenient for many people who live in this area, but I will never go back there again. read more

I made a appointment at this location to avoid the ignorance of dealing with DMV employees. No such luck. i showed up at my appointment late ., I'm not goin to deny that. The employee immediately pointed out I was late 15 minutes to be exact . However the office was EMPTY except for the three employees socializing . I was attempting to get a "verified" ID I had "several" documents including my FEDERAL PASSPORT ..I was told because my name on my license was missing my middle name (because DMV COULD NOT FIT MY FULL NAME IN THE SYSTEM THEY USED TO HAVE) I needed my birth certificate. My Federal passport thats Finger print verified was not enough .. my gun permit thats fingerprint verified and background checked was not enough ., my W'2's from work NOT ENOUGH .. state sent mail .. not enough in fact she didn't even look. However she did inquire if i wanted to join TRIPLE AAA... I guess I had enough information to join Triple AAA. I was then charged a AAA fee and sent to the other side of the office for my license . I don't know why I didn't start there, other than those employee's were socializing . I then am told to have a seat someone will be right with me. Id like to point out again NOONE IS IN THE OFFice but 3 employees as I sit and wait a literal ten minutes while two employees continue to talk. This is not a exaggeration, as Im looking up incredulous at them and clearing my throat to indicate I'm there and waiting . Finally the talk is stopped and a girl comes over to take my license and states "go over all information to make sure its correct" goin thru the information my middle name is omitted so THE INFORMATION IS NOT CORRECT . But then the Lady from that beginning chimes in that I can't change it. How does this make sense ? Either you want "correct accurate information" or you don't. Not wanting any more conflict or to wait any longer I just agreed to the "INCORRECT INFORMATION" this was no different than DMV cept there were no customers in the location. Also you don't get your hundred dollar license its mailed to you. It is my opinion at most customer service related jobs there will be "grey area" that the employee will need to make a educated judgement call. Otherwise jus have a kiosk and let a computer do it. read more

Service providers have wrong information about documentation needed for new license and had hour plus wait times. More efficient to use DMV than AAA. Not good customer service when cannot even provide basic info correctly for new licenses. Would not use AAA Avon again. read more

I went over to AAA in Avon to get a passport photo. As always everyone here was friendly and smiling. This office always has that friendly vibe and I have been going there for over 30 years! In this case I walked right up to David behind the counter asking if they did them and he quickly said Yes and took charge of doing it himself. In about 7 minutes I was handed my pics and out the door. Even the picture taking process was fun as the staff and clients engaged in friendly banter and a few laughs. I have not visited every AAA office but in my 68 years, of which Ive been a AAA member for 50, Ive visited many and this Avon office is tops on the list. The worst customer service and complete lack of follow up I have seen in a long time. Ordered trip tick through supervisor yesterday and was not available today. Horrible and inefficient and since when is there a fee to AAA members to renew your license? I walk in and had to wait for the 3 clerks to stop chatting in order to get waited on. Then 45 minute wait because they don't collect the $72 DMV fee the person taking the photo does which is what causes the delay. So what is the $6 fee to AAA for???!!! Huge long lines and long wait times. DON'T even try to exchange American money for foreign currency They ask for your SSN. What is that about??? And then they claim it's only for amounts over $1000 but gave me a letter describing it and it stated it was only needed for over $3000, when we asked them to clarify this they said it was wrong and really needed an SSN for $1000+. Went to get a new license since my wallet was taken. Read all the info on the DMV website and was all prepared. The woman was so rude at this AAA offic. She told me I needed more documents, I asked why and she asked somebody else to explain it because she didn't want to "deal with it". That's her job, deal with customers. I went home gathered even more documents and then she said - oh yeah you didn't need those. She was so rude and I can not believe she gets paid to do such a bad job. Then I asked them to get me a replacement AAA card, and another woman in there said she couldn't???? It was AAA, but since my AAA was from another state she couldn't help me. Ridiculous!!! I will never use AAA to book a vacation again. The initial meet and greet is always great, however the vacation promised isn't and wasn't all that great as described. Since vacations and trips aren't booked directly through AAA, rather a third party service, AAA and their agents can't give you the attention that is needed, especially in an emergency. I've now found it's more worth it to give a vacation your due diligence, do your research online and book through the hotels directly. AAA agents don't listen or care for your vacation! read more

I am emailing to register a complaint about the AAA office in Avon, CT. I stopped there today to get passport photos for my three children. Three customer service reps were assisting three people,and four AAA reps were sitting at desks in the "travel agency" section talking to each other. I waited in line for 20 minutes, watching the three customer service reps chatting idly with their customers, in no hurry to finish their transactions and acknowledge me. During those 20 minutes the line of customers waiting for service grew to 10 people, but the three customer service reps made no apparent effort to speed up their efforts or acknowledge us, and the four AAA travel agents made no effort to offer to help. Finally after 30 minutes a customer service rep waved me over. I wanted to get four passport photos for my three children, one of whom drives and has a AAA card, the other two are dependent minors. She would only give me the AAA discount rate for passport photos for my son with the AAA card, and said she would charge full price for you two younger sons, even though I am a AAA member and they are my dependents. Does AAA expect children of irs members, who are not yet old enough to drive, to have their own independent memberships? I walked out of AAA and brought my business elsewhere, as I will do from now on. With customer service like I experienced today., I would expect AAA to lose its membership loyalty very quickly. read more
