A neighbor happened to catch our front yard flooding out. It turned out to be a defective or poorly installed or cheap material part attached to the well.. I had them replace it. We had an instance of poor pressure and they had to come out and work on it. Now, water is shooting out of the holding tank so I called them and it was decided the tank had rusted through. I received a text saying they were on their way the day we agreed upon. I was not home when they came. When I finally arrived at the property, I noticed the old tank was still attached. So I called them and they explained they had sent me estimates. I asked questions and they said all of that explanation about the original call would be on the estimates. I hung up and looked at the emails. There were no details as promised. Only an estimate for $2100 to replace the pump. The pump is three years old. I called them back and asked for the owner to call me. She did. She had no more information other than they would have to pull the pump to figure out what the problem was. I explained water was shooting out of the tank. She repeated we will have to pull the pump. She added that it could be a wire off and not a bad pump. That would be $500. But they had to pull the pump to know.. All of this seems suspicious as I have had wells at other properties and never had a problem. In looking at the other reviews here on yelp, I believe my instincts to "RUN" are correct. I repeatedly asked about the tank being under warranty as well as the pump and was told everything went out of warranty in May 2024. Then I posted the review above and NOW the tank is DEFINITELY under warranty and the pump MIGHT BE. RUN!!! I repeat RUN!!!

Not only has Mermaid Water Systems aka Dyco fallen short on the new installation of a water softener system by not adding a float to the brine tank to prevent the salt water from spilling over and killing a 8 X 8 foot stretch of grass, they're customer service and persistent lack of communication is beyond unacceptable. I've spoken with the receptionist and the owner, Ted a total of 4 times within a 30 day period requesting the new system be repaired. No one called to update me on the repair order and once again I called on 3/31/21and was advised by Ted that a new battery was ordered for the solar panel. I asked Ted yet again about adding a float for the overflowing brine tank as he forgot to bring one with him when he came out to troubleshoot the faulty water softener system in March. It's now 10 days after my last phone call to Mermaid Water Systems aka Dyco and still no communication with an ETA for repair. Fellow consumers, take a look at the photos I posted and seriously consider whether or not you want to spend $2,900 for a water softener system given the fact that Mermaid Water Systems aka Dyco's customer service is severely lacking!
