VERY good company! 4.5 STARS rounded up. Referring to Yelp & Google, I contacted the three…read morehighest-rated glass companies servicing the greater Tampa area, which includes Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, & Hernando Counties. I selected Borter glass not only for its high rating on Google & Yelp, but due to its 44 years in business. It currently is owned by three family siblings, has just under 10 employees, & it has operated as a family-owned small company since 1976. WoW! Borter specializes in tub & shower enclosures-- frameless glass, frameless glass doors, rolling doors, as well as glass balconies & custom tabletops... & even glass stairs! This was the third to last of my remodeling projects, & I wanted a beautiful frameless glass enclosure. With all three frameless shower enclosure quotes similar in prospective price, I chose Borter because receptionist Carol was the most friendly & efficient. When she said she'd get info to me, she did so quickly -- & thoroughly. The other two companies' staffers paled in comparison. Weeks later, younger brother "Mr. B" (Craig) arrived to measure the area around my late arrival (shower base); I was surprised at the amount of care, precision, & time he took. (It was impressive.) The following day, I phoned Carol to hear the finalized quote & place a 50% deposit. Three weeks later the frameless glass shower enclosure & chrome ladder handle (which came w/ an added fee) were installed. I love the frameless glass-- totally satisfied! And I am thrilled that these people had the integrity to charge me LESS than the quote they had originally supplied. Good old time service & honesty! Why 4.5 stars & not 5 for this professional company? The hours are standard-- Monday thru Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM. For those of us working regular weekday hours, the available times to measure & install are not convenient. Offering a weekly late night & a Saturday would be appreciated so lost time from employment could be avoided. However, after much diaglogue, Mr. B tweaked his calendar so my enclosure could be installed on a Saturday morning-- Thank You. With that said, if my schedule allows, I will happily use this family-owned company for any & all future glass needs.

I purchased a 5-week class to learn how to make a 11" x" stained glass art. There was a Groupon…read morespecial for $20... What a bargain! This is for use of the studio, equipment and instructions. Note that you will need to pay extra for consumable materials such as glass (that you select), homasote board, solder, solutions (ex., patina), zinc came, etc. Don't be surprised if you lay out about $175+ for these extra materials (depending on your chosen glass). You will spend a minimum of 5 weeks to complete your project. I work fast, even taking some activities to do at home, and it took me 8 weeks (I did a 61-piece project). Other attendees will take 12 weeks or more, based on their abilities. The good thing is that the studio will not charge you extra for additional weeks. They will support you as many weeks as needed until you finish. If you are not the crafty type, pick "easier" patterns that require less/bigger glass pieces. Cody and helper Steve were super instructors. They provided help at every step, demonstrating what to do and how, then allowing you to try and be proficient at it. They were patient, and always willing to answer questions or step in when needed. I loved the class so much, and learned enough that I have invested in my own equipment to do more as my new hobby. (Equipment can be purchase in the studio.) I am hooked! Thanks so much Cody and Steve!

I was fortunate to attend these classes with my son. Cody and staff are patient while you learn…read more Students are at different steps in the process, so you also learn from each other. I would recommend participating with a friend or family member, so that you can share purchased supplies. This did take me 12 classes to complete, so plan on it taking you 9 or more classes to complete your piece. The supplies required are purchased as needed each week. Tools are provided as part of the class. I would budget $300 to complete your piece, $250 if sharing supplies (glass, glue, solder, flux, frame etc..). I would recommend buying an extra piece of practice glass to work on glass cutting before trying to cut your project glass. I would also spend a little more money on your favorite glass colors and textures. My glass for my butterfly was more expensive, but it made my project and I love it! You will learn new skills each week and have fun!
