I called this place at 4:00 and was told it would be $75 to get my car unlocked and that they would arrive in 45 minutes. When I hadn't heard anything by 5:25, I called again and was told they would find out what happened. When I hadn't heard anything by 6:00, I called someone else who gave me a cheaper quote anyway and I cancelled A1, whose name should be more like Z26. read more

Today was the worst, but these guys helped me out in a big way. My key broke off from the fob and went missing, nowhere to be found. Frank came by where I was at to assist and take what he needed back to the shop to see what they can do. A little while later he drove back with new key and I'm all set to go! These guys are wonderful and a much better alternative to dealerships who wanted to charge me $600 + towing fees. Save yourself the stress and call A1 first. read more

zero stars is what I would rate this company. my husband called this company about 5 days before they Finley had time to come by and open our safe that the combination had stopped working to. they jerry ringed it so only one number had to open it. charged us over a hundred dollars. soon after they had left my husband tried to open it again and it would not open. he tells me this and says he will have to call them back. but he tried once more and it opened. my husband passed away about 3 weeks later unexpectedly. Two days after his passing I needed his social security number to make arrangements. all our personal information was in the safe. I tried to open the safe with the number and it would not work. called the company and explainEd the situation to them. said they were sorry and would send someone out. long story short, 7 days later and a personal visit to the shop and only promises someone would be there soon.I called at 9a.m. Tuesday morning, same promise. I called at 11:15 a.m. same promise. I waited till 2 p.m. and I called again. same promise. I finally said we paid you for a service and it probably would only take 5 minutes to show me what I am doing wron g and he says he is not sending his service man for free. long story short I called another lock company in Fresno out and they said they would be by in an hour. They showed up ,opened my safe and we're done in 15 minutes. charged me $80 and I was very happy. 20 minutes after the other company I called guess who showed up. After 7 days and a dozen calls to them I had to make. never again will I use A1 lock and key or Ever recommend them! The story is alot more detail than I have written here. when I called the other company they said they have gotten many other stories of the same kind about A1 lock and key. Went in to get a new key for my 2000 Lexus RX300. They had to order key. Went in they told me I had a bad relay or something and they could not program the key but they had already cut the key without knowing they could program it so they charged me the full price of $200 + and told me to go to Dick's automotive to get my car fixed. I asked Dick's to fix my door locks he said he needed two keys I said I didn't have two keys, he shoved some paper work at me and said sign here. I said but you can't fix it so never mind. I went to my mechanic and he sent me to another locksmith. he progammed the key with no problem but said the remote did not work properly. I went back have A1 order a working key remote. He tested and said it was fine and said something was wrong with my car. I asked the owner if he felt good about charging me full price for doing almost nothing. The owner has a king size ego and I will never go there again. read more

this guy lost my very hard to find 1971 datsun 510 locks and ignition. ive called him about 10 times now and i keep hearing the same thing. ( give me your number and name and i will call you back!!!) well its been a year now and now the owner is telling me that somone came in and picked up my locks. so i continue to call and now im being told he will continue to look. well it LOOKs like im assed out! thats what it looks like. thanks, now ima spend over $400 dollars to re purchase all new locks for my car. read more

I walked in to A1 Lock & Key largely by coincidence, but I will be coming here for everything lock/key related from now on, regardless of distance. Could not have been more impressed with the service. I really liked the workers in the shop - it has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, and they all bantered with each other the entire time I was there; it had me cracking up the whole time. I came in to get a duplicate of my car key, which was old and worn. Instead of simply duplicating it, they proceeded to re-construct the original key, with about 2 hours of painstaking effort - they gave me a key that was as good as a brand new original. Considering that I had bought the car used, and never had access to an unworn original, that was worth quite a bit to me. After all that work, they only charged me $8.50 for the key. I was flabbergasted. They didn't try to pressure or upsell me at all, just took care of the job I wanted done, and at a great price too. read more

I called A1 after talking to a dealer about getting a replacement key that had been stolen for my daughters car. I let them know the dealer quoted me $500.00 Days later I got a call saying they could do it and it would be less than the dealer quote. I then called at least twice a week trying to set up having this done. I was told I will call you back every time, but they didn't. I asked over and over how much and was told again less than the dealer. This went on for 5 weeks. Today they were finally going to program the new key. Great! they went out, and the key works. I was told $349. Great, except no. I then get a call back saying that amount was wrong and now they want $799.40 for their service which by the way included only one key. This is not ok. I can't thank Mike enough for his service! I called him at 11pm on a Monday night when I locked myself out of my apartment. Having exhausted literally all other resources(including three other "24 hour" locksmiths) he picked up within the first few rings and he was here within 10 minutes. The actual unlocking took all of 2 minutes. There was 0 damage to my door or lock, and I did not have to change the locks or get it rekeyed. I had a problem with my truck ignition key...it was VERY difficult turning the ignition. Marty said the key is probably just worn.
