Old Pueblo Cellars is serving up a some great unique wine varietals like Malvasia Bianca, tannat, malbec, Cabernet, Syrah and other unique blends like their Super Tucson. The wine tasting room is a bit small and but has a personal charm of southwestern themes. The outdoor patio areas are great to view the local landscape and take in the warm weather and watch the occasional thunderstorm. Also check out their wine flavored slushies when available.

But then again it makes since when it's 110 degrees outside and going wine tasting. After taking a brief tour of the property, we went inside and were greet by the nicest and most compassionate woman you could ever meet... Next to my wife of course. She was friendly, gave us the history of the winery and shared with us what brought her to work at Old Pueblo. We were there a little over an hour sharing stories; how we met our partners, what's fascinating about wines and what makes Old Pueblo unique. The wines were delicious; 100% organic and prepared in a way where you enjoy every sit and get every bit of the flavor as intended. This is definitely saved on our list of wineries outside of California that we will be going back to. Just got to plan the next road trip.

Apparently the restaurant is owned by a winery nearby. That being said, we decided to share the tasting flight since I'm not big on wine. The wines were all pretty light, and as I figured, not for me. We ordered the smoked carrots appetizer, and after a few minutes, also added the focaccia bread of the day. I can't remember the exact name of the bread, but it had jalapeños and peppers and cheese in it..lots of flavors, Big and fluffy and pretty good. The carrots also had the smokiness to them that they advertise and were soft yet still had that crunch you like. We were big fans of them. For the entrées, we got the swordfish, which was me doing something different, and the steak Frites. The swordfish came just as I expected, very unique and flavorful. BAAABIIEEE THAT STEAK THOUGH!!! it was amazing, so scrumptious and flavorful! The best I've ever had! We were talking about it all weekend, and even tried to go back on Monday with family, only to find that they were closed :'( Staff was very accommodating and friendly while we were there. We got two desserts, the basque cheesecake, which was good ..however, I was really sad that I couldn't get the caramel one in the example menu that they showed me at the front. (it was a different menu on the tables, but still pretty similar.) the cheesecake they actually had was a strawberry one, which was still yummy. The ice cream of the day was really surprising and blew me away. When they said vanilla bean ice cream with pepita seeds and olive oil, I was instantly turned off. I felt vanilla bean ice cream was boring, didn't understand the need for seeds and ice cream, and was skeptical about why Oil would be on ice cream lol. However my husband ordered it. And let me tell you I finished that ice cream lol, it just worked, and I learned a lesson. This place has picturesque presentation, great portions, unique takes on quality foods, and clearly a very talented chef. I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu!

What I love about Plaza is not only their selection of beverages, it's the fantastic staff that works there. I feel comfortable asking them any question when it comes to locally brewed beer, Arizona wines, and distilled spirits made in and around Tucson. I ended buying some locally made vodka, my father-in-law loved. Plaza has a quirky vibe I appreciate and everything is always labeled clearly with interesting descriptions. They sell more beers than what you see of theirs in the stores. They also have rotating guest beers. Pours are offered in 4oz and 10oz, which is nice if you don't want to drink too much or are trying to pace yourself/taste different beers. They also sell various merchandise, likes hats, shirts, etc. One thing I'm starting to add in my reviews is if there is a changing table now that I have a baby. They are all fantastic and well done. The fire cider is apart of my immune drink every day it really has helped my immune system improve. They have a cute spot to have a drink and relax now. We even tried the snack pack and it was delicious. They have a variety of sauces (I tried the stir fry and Wowers! Yum!), salad dressings, snack, tea, honey, elderberry mix, and alcoholic beverages too (which I haven't tried). Menu looks exciting! The couple that runs it is very nice and helpful.
