We visited here for the first time today to check out the current exhibit "Reclaimed: the art of…read moreRecology". If Recology sounds familiar, that's probably because you've seen the name emblazoned on the recycling containers that you put out at the curb every week. Get this - the recycling company has had an artist-in-residence program for over thirty years, in which they sponsor artists with studio space, a stipend, and access to the unwanted detritus of the city with which they create art. The Bedford Gallery has curated an excellent exhibit of a small sampling of the works of over 200 artists and students. The art works are an impressive transformation of things like coaxial cable, plywood scraps, broom handles, Ikea shopping bags, 16mm film, and innumerable other discoveries that others have purged from their lives. To call this mixed media is an understatement. The gallery staff were very friendly today and were pleased that someone had actually showed up. We walked in about an hour after opening and they said we were first; no one else entered during our longer-than-expected visit. Such a shame, really, because this place is just a block from the downtown shops and restaurants. If the other exhibits throughout the year are this good, then Walnut Creek has an underappreciated jewel here. We'll be keeping an eye on their future exhibits. We were able to visit this place free of charge using our local library's Discover and Go program. This is also available to users of the Contra Costa County Library system. The regular price of admission is a nominal $5 for persons 13 and older - not bad at all for a little cultural interlude.

I went to their "multi-sensory experience" Rock N roll Friday because they stated "you're invited…read moreto take in this extraordinary collection while reveling in the soundtrack of the psychedelic generation." And guess what that consisted of?: Someone's Spotify barely audible in the background. Completely misleading. Not sure what the point of the show was : there was no overarching show description anywhere , mostly B side prints and a few prints that weren't abstract at all thrown in.

Thanks to Yelp again,we scored 2 glasses and 4 drink tickets for the Lafayette Art and Wine…read morefestival last weekend!! Free parking for the event at the Bart station and it was packed, so parking was stressful but that's not anyone's fault. There was shuttle busses but we chose to walk. The festival basically takes over downtown Lafayette! Huge festival!! Picked up my glasses at the chamber of commerce from Holly, super sweet lady. I don't drink alcohol but my husband didn't mind using my drink tickets ;). There was 4 stages with live music, streets filled with vendors selling their crafts (lots of beautiful high end goods). Many storefronts and restaurants stayed open benefiting from the crowds. Police presence was very noticeable but didn't kill the vibe. Bathrooms plentiful and clean. The kids area was amazing! All done by the Fun and Game Experts, and experts they are. The kids had a blast! It took me a second to adjust to so many people everywhere but once I did it was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Took the free shuttle there, but walked back (about a 10-15 minute walk depending on your pace). Free admission. The event itself was really fun. Tons of vendors, many selling jewelry and little crafted items, but there were a few selling paintings and prints. The biggest attraction for me was the entertainment. 4 different stages featuring music, dancing, and other live acts. Food was reasonably priced. There were a couple water stations around for you to refill your water bottle. Make sure you protect yourself from the sun and heat!

This was such a beautiful picturesque event! A few moms got together for a paint & sip and we LOVED…read morethe entire experience. First of all, the property is absolutely beautiful and it is so much better than being cooped up indoors in some paint studio. You feel like you're on a retreat. Second of all, the instructions were very specific and we were very well guided throughout the process. I have two left hands - and art is definitely not my forte. However, even for someone like me- the painting was a success! Last of all, the food was phenomenal. I love authentic Indian food- and the food was very delicious and added a wonderful touch to the entire experience. I HIGHLY recommend coming here for a GNO, team building, or just to enjoy with friends. I am excited to bring my kids here for a party some day.

Wow! What an unforgettable experience at Paint and Picnic! I…read morewas planning my daughter's 17th birthday and originally thought of doing a picnic with a "paint with me" activity. While searching for vendors, I came across Paint and Picnic and I'm so glad I did! The website was easy to navigate, and everything was clearly laid out. I reached out to the owner, Sophia, and she responded quickly and answered all my questions. Booking was super easy, and once it was confirmed, everything was handled--setup, food, decor, and paint supplies! The venue is absolutely beautiful--relaxing, cozy, and perfect for pictures. Sophia works with a small local vendor in Berkeley for food, and each sandwich was customized to our guests' needs. I love that she supports small businesses! The paint session was fun and easy to follow, and all the girls loved it. Sophia is kind, professional, and incredibly accommodating. I didn't have to stress about a thing--just showed up and enjoyed the day. Highly recommend Paint and Picnic if you're looking for something unique, stress-free, and beautiful. You won't regret it!
