I called for an appointment and had to wait a week, but if they're that good, they're busy, right? So, I went in this morning for my appointment with Missy, what a wonderful woman! I haven't cut my hair in over 2 years (yikes!) and we decided what would look best for me. We chatted and she cut, professional all the way, I must say. They just keep getting better!! A special occasion popped up and I needed an emergency trim to look my best. Ashley was able to squeeze me in and did a wonderful job. Walking in, I received a nice warm welcome and was guided to the wash chair for a divine scalp rub and shampoo. This was always my favorite part of the service until today... She was so soothing and phenomenal. She is even running a special right now for 30% off her service. I would be booking every week if I didn't live in Idaho. I don't like being lied to to get me in the shop. I called ahead to make an appointment with Ashley since I had been there before with her two months prior. I specified that I want the $10 micro trim she mentioned to me the last time and washed my hair just before arriving so she could just cut it and go. I said just that micro trim again before she started, she new what I was taking about, so it seemed. She literally just cut half an inch. No wash. No blow dry. Then she told me that would be $20. For what? I was in the seat for five minutes! I told her again that's not worth 20, and we already talked about price and the cut, how could you say that?! Emily, the stylist who cut my hair, said she has a few men who want a high style cut. I'm a senior gentleman and when living in Los Angeles years ago, went to the Vidal Sassoon hair salon. I paid a small fortune to get the best cut, but they ruined my appearance by trying some weird style that absolutely made me look like a clown! I told this story to my new stylist, Emily, who said that she doesn't base her quality on price. Her prices are extremely reasonable for the fantastic quality of her work. When I got home, my wife Linda, who goes to Ashly at the same salon, said my haircut was the best she's seen on me. We're both very happy with A Stylish Affair and their stylists. Today I got another haircut, manicure and pedicure at my wife's insistence, and as I've never had a pedicure before, loved it. It's quite soothing, relaxing, and I almost fell asleep at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon. Last, I had a manicure, which was also amazing. I've been coming to this salon for a few years now and I travel from the low desert to do so. Ashley is absolutely wonderful, always does an amazing job, and is very knowledgeable in regards to hair/skin care. I had light hair and she is always very cautious about avoiding damaging it. I know she would not style or color my hair in a way that would compromise it, even if that's what I requested. The salon is kept meticulously clean, stylishly decorated, and is very comfortable. They are very reasonable, especially in comparison to the salons in the low desert. I have never had any issue or been dissatisfied with either my cut or color. I have to make this a quickie for the time being, but I promise to do a full review when I get a little time, if you read my profile you can see I'm in a bit of chaos. I should have wrote this review months ago, but life happens. 5 stars from ME isn't easy to get and I'll be honest I read a few reviews that had me wondering, but I chose to risk it. My hair is very long so doing a perm isn't a easy task for the person, and a wrong perm is a permanent disaster. I had read great reports from one of the lady in the shop named Maya and that's who I selected for my appointment. I received a call asking if I would make a appointment with another hairdresser because Maya was quite pregnant at the time, I think her due date was at the "anytime" stage LOL I was reluctant about it I have too much hair and if anything should happen I would quite simply be devastated, I know allot of you can identify with me, it has nothing to do with vanity... omg the time I was suppose to make this quick...So after talking to Maya she honestly told be that Tanya is the go to stylist for perms, and you could tell she meant it. Ready for this..OMGAWD She rocked my perm the best, yes I said the BEST perm I have ever gotten, in fact just the other day in the market a woman with long curly hair, made mention to me she asked how the humidity was just doing her hair, she said well I bet your having issues to because your hair is "NATURALLY CURLY" like mine. When a person who has naturally curly hair thinks yours is also natural....I have never had such a compliment.. Because of my medication my hair is hard to perm takes the nasty acid type to do anything! I do have to go back to get my hair cut which we waited for. I can't wait to o back and tell them personally how pleased I am there is a wee section that didn't take as well but the cut might fix. I hope if your reading reports you see this one because everyone at the shop are quite simply the warmest and funniest people I had a great day I laughed and joked and watched as every customer walked out with nothing but praise for the cut, color and of course my perm. I don't write a good review if a place stinks oh you can bet I'm going to tell it like it is. I don't give a 5 star if its not 200% deserved and this gets a full 5 and then some...OK I really have to go like I said I will give a "FULL" review later...LOL this is short when it comes to a 5 Star joint Peace Quick note before I log out, I want people to understand people tend to write reports when something doesn't go right or when they are treated poorly etc, BUT people tend to NOT write a good review because they are pleased as punch I'm guilty I should have wrote this months ago in fact it should have been written the day after. But as you can see I jumped all over the internet when I was done wrong, its just how it happens. Not everyone is happy with their hair I know alot of people expect it to look like a magazine and even if they do get the same cut it might not come out the same. You ever see a model when she or he is not all air brushed, they look just like everyone else so you can imagine the air brushing done to hair also. So remember to write the good with the bad, and should you find a place with alot of good reports mixed in with the bad, remember there are probably alot of good that never made it to reviews....dang it I'm late LOL read more

I was feeling a little spontaneous the other day and decided I needed a change. I called around to local hair salons, knowing that it would be difficult to get a same-day appointment on a Friday - so I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to get an appointment at A-Stylish Affair. I had been referred here by a coworker who has lived in the area for many years and is very particular about her hair. Emily was my stylist and she was very personable, not too chatty, but not completely silent and awkward either - which was perfect for me. I explained that I wanted very light, almost platinum highlights on the top half of my head, and then bright fuchsia underneath as a "peekaboo" color. It came out great! She really understood exactly what I wanted and I have gotten TONS of compliments on my color. The price was extremely reasonable, and about $10-15 less than what I paid at a different Yucca Valley salon a few months ago. I am moving at the end of the month, but I would definitely come back here again and I will recommend this salon and Emily as a stylist to any of my friends :) read more

I had a wonderful appointment with stylist Emily today. I walked in with a perm gone wrong, severe hair damage and needing a color correction. I wanted to keep my hair light, but Emily and owner Missy very kindly and professionally explained that they could not perform this because it would damage my hair to the point where it would break off completely. They were amazingly honest and willing to work with me to achieve a darker look that has actually made my hair much healthier and the only apt description I can think of is phenomenally gorgeous. Emily performed an absolute miracle on my hair and I honestly think it looks better than it ever has. The quality, professionalism, friendliness, and overall ambiance of this salon makes this the ONLY place I'll ever go and recommend.
