It is located in the Montgomery area in a cute shopping square with parking right outside. I.C.I. stands for Imagine Create Inspire. The studio has a cool and fun vibe. The owner, Jackie, is a great artist and instructor. The music while we painted was great and the painting we did was awesome. I have been to other studios, but at this studio we actually used a palette and I learned some things about painting. We're already talking about going back to I.C.I. to have a birthday party! I also know someone whose daughter took a kids class there and loved it.

I've now done five classes and I'm so excited about his new space in Walnut Hills, which will provide options for all sorts of events. His creativity and imagination is endless and his students benefit as a result. Like the name says, this is not your average paint-n-sip. The drinks are flowing and it's a full bar with beer, wine, and liquor, as well as n/a options. You get guidance from a theme and inspiration photos and images, but you ultimately decide what you're going to paint. Some people choose to recreate an existing piece but many go wild, like I do. The Pendleton Art Center space was brilliant and eclectic and full of color and inspiration. I have high hopes that the Walnut Hills space will be the same and I'll be one of the first ones there. James is a delight. He's supportive and encouraging but absolutely no-nonsense. He will give guidance when requested, or gentle nudges when things go awry (or you're taking too long lol). He's an excellent teacher, an outstanding entertainer, and you feel like you're best friends by the end of the class. Do yourself a favor. My daughter attended a kids art class a few months ago and is dying to go back. The owner is the kindest human I've ever met. Such a gem. He took so much extra time to show us around the store, answer our questions and just tell us about the background of everything. They have fun events and camps during the summer as well. OH and there's a bar too!! What doesn't this place have??

Every time, I was there I always have a positive experience- Patty and Magno always seemed to be very personable, hospitable, attentive, patient, kind and helpful. This is a review from several months ago when we came here with a group of friends for a "painting experience." There was snacks, cheese, dips and non-alcoholic drinks; and we were allowed bring wine or beer to enjoy. We mingled a bit, snacked a bit and drank a bit. I'm sure the little alcohol loosened up inhibitions and allowed for more artistic expression. Magno is an experienced painter who, together with his wife Patty, have added a fun-twist to painting. They've been able to help novices like us feel less intimidated about applying a few brush strokes on the canvass. We were given a template of a Nipa Hut(bahay kubo) or an American eagle to work on and were given the full artistic liberty to express ourselves with whatever colors, moods, strokes we desired. Magno and Patty were great at coaching and supervising us. They gave creative suggestion and positive reinforcement for all of us insecure, novice artists. Who knew that there was an art gallery across the street from Shanghai Mama's? Located inside the…read morebuilding marked "Cincinnati Bar Center," the Art Gallery is presenting Panorama of Cincinnati Art, currently in its 25th year. Unlike the art museum, this gallery is a business that sells paintings. I was buzzed in through the from door, welcomed by the receptionist. As I browsed the exhibit, salespeople kept approaching me, asking about my collection. This was a little awkward as, while I do collect art, I could never afford any of the pieces here which averaged around $3,500, some reaching $25,000 - $150,000. I kindly dismissed the salespeople, explaining I just wanted to view the exhibit. There were 100 paintings lining the walls, but only a few were impressive to my eye. Many were scenes of Native Americans, sailboats, or generic landscapes. The most notable Cincinnati artist, Frank Duveneck, is what drew me to the exhibit. Duveneck is known for his breathtaking murals inside Cathedral Basilica and Mother of God Church. Unfortunately, only one painting in the exhibit was a Duveneck. There was also only one Harlan Hubbard landscape. Hubbard was a folk artist who painted Ohio River scenery, known for living off the land well into the 1980s. Understandably, these prominent artists may only have a few paintings for public purchase (most are in museums.) I was expecting for the rest of the art to be of Cincinnati landscapes or period pieces of the city by lesser known artists. Not quite. A handful of portraits I recognized as Cincinnati, whether modern or past, or mentioned Cincinnati in their description. Of those few artists, I found these pieces to be beautiful: - Tom Bacher, who paints with phosphorescent acrylic for a textured, glowing look. http://www.cincinnatiartgalleries.com/painting/artist-browse.aspx?p=3&id=ART86 - Lewis Henry Meakin (1850-1917), who painted a landscape of rural Clifton. Yes, Clifton was farmland at the turn of the century. http://www.cincinnatiartgalleries.com/painting/artist-browse.aspx?id=ART1127 - Shafer, who created a sole black and white sketch resembling an old newspaper cartoon with clippings of musical notes. It was my favorite piece in the gallery with a style unique from all the rest. I enjoyed seeing these Cincinnati artists and their local pieces. I'll be on the look out for their works around town, especially Bacher, since he is still living and creating art. Overall, Panorama of Cincinnati Art could have used some more details explaining the artists ties to Cincinnati. The Gallery itself was exquisite and a perfect place for the art connoisseur. While you definitely need deep pockets to purchase the portraits, Cincinnati Art Gallery has a selection of local art books, including many on Rookwood Pottery. They also have books on the past Panorama exhibits with vivid pictures of each of the paintings. Books are more affordable, averaging around $25.00.

If you are worried about parking, the garage on 12th and Vine around the corner is not only covered but one of the lowest cost in the city. We often find street parking nearby too.

Mark the owner was super-helpful and even recommended other galleries in the area to us. We returned later, bought a large print and he was even willing to ship it to us.
