Carolina Trophy Roofs

We bought the house in October of 2020, and we had the roof inspected at that time and told we had…read more7-10 years left before we encountered any risk of problems. Then the rains came and we found a major leak over our porch. A GC came and 'fixed' it, and during those repairs we found mold and rot. The time came for us to find an actual roofing specialist, and thus began our search. Carl from Carolina Trophy Roofs arrive 5 minutes early for his scheduled consultation, and proceeded to perform an exceptionally thorough inspection of the roof. Upon climbing down, he was certain that storms had damaged our roof and that our insurance would cover. He inspired such confidence that we shook hands (ok..bumped elbows) and agreed to move forward. He handled everything. He contacted our insurance company. He was present during their inspector's initially walk around, in the rain. He filed the appeal when the insurance only wanted to fix the few spots picked in their soggy inspection. He then came back, climbed up on the roof, and using chalk, circled every single area where we had damage and missing tiles so the second inspector could see where to look. And then, when we successfully won the appeal, he came back and helped us choose the right shingle, and talked us through the process. Carl is the warrior you want in your corner. Then Rusty, the owner, came next and made sure we understood what was coming and reassured us about the process. The hands on approach made us comfortable and prepared. Then Harley and the crew arrived, and though the original estimate of one day was exceeded by 2, we have a giant roof, with many steep levels, and Harley and his crew were thorough and professional. We have a spectacular new roof, and the entire process was very satisfactory. I would highly recommend Carolina Trophy Roofs for any project. They are very professional, very competent and provide a fantastic level of customer service.

They protected the windows and shrubbery from the old roof materials that were thrown down. My complaints: I was told they would charge me $75 per sheet of plywood that needed to be replaced. Interestingly, they bought 3 pieces of heavy-duty plywood (which does cost that much) and 5 pieces of lower-quality pressed board plywood (in which a substantially lower price would have been charged.) When I questioned the female employee who came after the crew left why that price for the low-grade quality plywood, her answer (and I kid you not!) was "for labor and clean up). Hmmm. Those costs were included in the estimate. Okay. The crew was ALSO SUPPOSED to go around my home with a large magnet roller to search for metal building materials (I.e., nails!) but never did that. Thankfully, I didn't have a flat tire as a result and a second contractor found several.
