They sent a small crew to do a large job so it took 4 days. They started out removing the screens, pressure washing the structure & replacing some rusty screws & painting others, per the contract quote. They got 4 of 11 beams painted day 1. On day 2 they added a crew member & their method changed. No more painting, they went right to the screen install of the painted beams. I assumed they'd move forward by painting the remaining 7 beams before screen install but no. I trusted they knew what they were doing & had a plan to paint after screen install. I was wrong. The screen they used has a hazy appearance which is not what I wanted. My previous screen was completely see through to the point that my guests would ask if there was screen install the large side "windows". I called & texted with my concern, as in our conversations prior to hiring them I'd shared exactly that and told them that's the type screen I wanted. My screen was 13 years old but I'd just had 2 panels replaced by a handyman and they matched exactly so I assumed they would use the same screen, and that the hazy look was because only 1/3 of the screen was in and light was reflecting off the inside of it. Unfortunately that is not the case. On the last day, when they "finished" & asked for payment I went to inspect and all of the remaining rusted screws were left un replaced/painted. When I told them I would pay when the job was complete and that if in the process of painting the screws they painted screen they needed to plan on replacing that screen. But I had assumed they were the pros and knew what they were doing, and that was my bad, but they were not leaving here with those rusty screws left untouched. The Sales job was the screen. Cage would be totally refreshed and feel new... Now they're planning on leaving 2/3 of the screws, rusty and asking for payment. Not on my watch! Each of the two workers found a scrap of cardboard as a shield and began Spray painting the screws on makeshift scaffolding. I provided them with two larger, rigid shields to make their job easier and prevent the screen from being painted. Today I'm writing this because my screen cage feels like I'm in a hazy day all day long because of this substandard screen they installed. My entire screen cage is Hazy to look through. Needless to say I am not pleased. I have a very large reach in this community and although I had hoped to share this company with my real estate colleagues as a good source for re-screening. I cannot do that. The job was $6325 and I wish I had used the primary large contractor in The Villages T&D instead. read more
