She was annoyed my hair was still somewhat wet and she said to make sure I wash it the night before and to tell all my bridesmaids to wash it the night before. Ok, not an issue. The makeup portion went fine we had a good conversation, so things were looking up. I think she did a great job on my eyes, but I really wanted some great contouring and I don't think she did that. Hair, this is where we went downhill. She said my hair was dry. I apologized and promised to use product before the wedding. She said not to use product the week before because she wouldn't be able to do anything with it, I've never heard of such a thing. I asked for two pieces left out to curl to frame my face. While trying to curl them she said she didn't like these pieces and asked if she can just CUT them off! She was frustrated I didn't have extensions. And I told her I was open to them if it was needed to achieve the look and if she couldn't do that without them to focus on either the updo part or just curl the bottom. Idk why, but she teased the bottom. It looked like a rats nest. I don't understand how she could leave it like that. How would that make me want to come back with my bridal party!? Maybe I was just an inconvenience and she didn't want me to come back? Really disappointed. As soon as I saw it I said thank you and paid $150. I didn't bother to comment or ask her to change anything cause at that point I knew I'd be going elsewhere.

Mimi please don't skimp on the quality of your chairs, it really matters. There are a lot of good braiders in the chicagoland area and mimi's professonalism and nice location is why I go 40 minutes from my home to her location. The braids were the size of my thumb, and then on top of those huge braids they placed the crochet hair, making it sit on her head like a wig. To make matters worse, they left the entire back of her head with no hair, and the braiding was so lumpy that it looked careless and unprofessional. When she went back to express her concerns, instead of correcting their poor work, they told her she would have to pay again to fix it. That is absolutely unacceptable. For the money spent, the service and quality were nowhere near what anyone should expect. It was sloppy, rushed, and not worth the price. Do not put your head in their hands. Stay away!

While I wait for the color to do it's thing....she is always hospitable whether you need something to drink, magazine or want to listen to music your choice. She is wonderful company and fun to talk to. I love how she cuts my hair and even touches it up to make sure it's perfectly how I like it. I have had updos for weddings and events done as well. Barb listens to what you want and gets it done and for those who don't always know she will help you figure it out. I have always left this salon extremely happy and at ease unlike other salons I have left in tears or just wasn't happy. I know it's just hair but if you spend time and money you want it to look amazing!
