A+ Review was a godsend when I was at State! I highly recommend them if you are a business major. Their review sessions for business classes are top-tier. I took their review workshops for BA 360, BA 370, and MIS 301. All were great and they helped me get A's on all the tests I did review sessions on (even for tests with averages of D's and below). I went to their workshops when I didn't have time to study because I was super busy with work. They teach you just what you need to know for the test and try not to overload you with unnecessary info. There were some tests I didn't study for at all, but I got good grades on thanks to A Plus. The place might look a little sketchy, but they're legit. I know a lot of people who have gone to these sessions. The teaching style of some of the people there can be crass (and abusive? Ive gone to A+ for the past 2 years and it has saved me every semester. They don't fill your brain with bullshit you don't need, they get straight to the point and actually teach the material thats important. Walter is a great finance professor and its worth every penny. Ive gotten 100% on exams after going to the reviews. My only complaint/suggestion would be to do the review a few days before the exam rather than the night before because its hard to study if your exam is the next day. Walter is the man. He is a great teacher and I wish he was teaching all my finance classes at SDSU. I learn more in one session with him than I do in weeks of going to class, doing homework, and reading the textbook. The professors at SDSU generally do not prepare you for the tests. They usually describe general concepts and waste time covering topics that will not help you on the exams. There is a huge disconnect between what is being taught in class, and what is on the exams. In my opinion, if you do the readings, do the homework, and go to class, you will NOT be adequately prepared for the exams. A plus review does what the professors at SDSU should be doing. After 5 hours of A+ Review, my brain feels like it has been fried, re-fried, and fried again. But, I'm really grateful for this glorious establishment. If it wasn't for A+ Review, I don't think I would have learn or studied as much for one subject. This place is 10 stars worthy! Walter, Rachel & Mike were all so helpful. The type of energy and encouragement I needed for my first exam. I sat through 4 weeks of lecture and was clueless after each lecture. Feeling extremely overwhelmed with the first exam around the corner I decided to give this place a shot. I've always had professors that were passionate about their job and cared for student success. In my 2nd semester of Junior year I am experiencing the complete opposite. It seems as though the school system is a scam. Wants you to fail so that you continue bleeding money into their system and the professors get paid either way. It is a good review but it's so long and so expensive. I went there for chemistry for the first exam, but then I found another tutor (Kris) who gives review sessions that were really great. His review was on campus for half the price. I ended up doing better on the second exam than the first exam and kept going back to his reviews for the rest of the exams. read more

Just did BA 360 summer session review. I had previously read all the terrible reviews and been completely skeptical however I took a change once I got desperate. Truth - The dude there is a bit harsh, seems like he doesn't want to be there (not that he doesn't, that's just how it seems), and he's not a natural teacher. ... but who cares? I don't care if someone is likable if they can do the job well. He's not a very good teacher but he has experience and is able to explain the topics well. I'm not getting a "lifetime teacher" vibe from him where he genuinely wants to help people, but if a fireman takes you out of a fire do you care if he likes his job or not? I don't, this dude saved me from a fire. Here are my results I am a business major, obviously, so I had taken Stats and Managerial Accounting. With those 2 classes and the review session at A+, it was very understandable. BA 360 is an online class for me and I looked at ZERO of the videos, did ZERO quizzes, ZERO homework, it's like I just showed up to class on day 1 lol. (p.s. this wasn't out of laziness, work came first and I had a tough week of very long days). I got a B on the test which disappointed me until I saw that the mean for that test was 67/100. I think that if you didn't really take in the lessons from Stats and Managerial Acct then this review might have been rough for you. He does give out packets and explains how to solve the problems however every test is slightly different. If you don't already understand the concepts behind what you're doing then those slight differences are going to trip you up. If you do your work and do this review, I don't see anyone getting less than Bs (at least in this class). If someone didn't take those lessons in and goes in cold, I still think they'd have a good shot at passing with just this review. Conclusion Are you desperate? Then you need this. Are you good but want to polish off to get that A? Then you need this. Will this HURT my knowledge? Nope, not at all. Is it worth 80 bucks? Only if a passing grade is worth 80 bucks to you. I am a transfer student and had no clue A Plus existed/ my teachers told me not to attend and that it was a rip off. I decided to get a 2.0 GPA my first semester at SDSU due to my teachers constantly telling me not to attend A Plus (one of them being professor O'Byrne or however you spell it the dude sucked.) Finals were coming around and I had a D in my MIS 301 class. I really did not want to retake the class so I decided to take all my friends advice and go to A plus. Best decision of my life. I would rather pay $90 and not fail a class/retake it. I took the final and passed with a B- I believe, and surprisingly passed the class some how. There were somethings on the test that were not on the review at A Plus which is why I am giving 4 stars, but Mike was a hero. If it wasn't for A Plus I would have failed the class. Another class I took A plus for was for my finance class (BA 323) with Do. Walter taught this class. Personally, I did like Mike a little better than Walter because I actually stayed awake and he was super funny. But Walter was not bad considering he helped me get my grade up, but by the end of the two packets, my brain was absolutely fried. I got a 23% on my first test. After attending A Plus, I got an 88% on the second exam. Since I do have a 2.0 at SDSU currently, if I get anything bellow a "C" in my classes I can not graduate... So I decided not to take any more risks and attend A Plus for Do's second exam. There were many useless concepts in the second review that was not on the test, but I guess they stick them in there just to be safe. At the same time, there were 2 problems that we learned on the review but I feel like we did not spend enough time on/were questioned differently on the exam so I could not properly put it in my calculator/would not get the right answer (yes I did study the packets for over 24 hours.) Besides that, A Plus is truly a life savor and I 100% recommend it, just do not make the mistake by listening to your professors when they tell you not to go in the beginning of the semester. I still hear students saying how A plus is a rip off even though they have never been. Some people need the extra help, and some don't. Regardless, if you are doing terrible in a class you should attend A plus. read more

I'm always fairly dumbstruck when I come across an arrogant business owner who thinks he can do whatever he wants without regard to what his c.u.s.t.o.m.e.r.s. want. Mike is a great example of this. Everyone who goes to Aplus keeps telling him that they want the reviews more than a day before the exam so they have time to study the material that he goes over. His response to this request? If you don't like it, don't come here. 1) Since you don't have time after the review to study the material that Mike teaches you, and 2) since Mike teaches you completely different ways of doing EVERYTHING than the professors taught you... *insert flow of logic here*... there's no point in going to Aplus Review! I've gone to several reviews and my grades have been all over the board... and I study a LOT. There is a guy near UCSD who does this exact same type of review for the Economics majors there and he charges $150 for the entire semester including all exams and quizzes no matter how many classes you have. That makes Mike about 5-10 times as expensive. Mike also charges an extra $.99 if you use a credit card which is a violation of his merchant agreement. (It's a cost of doing business... I would think with the crazy ridiculous prices he charges he would be able to cover someone using a credit card.) Anyway, the pizza is disgusting and he spends a lot of the review time making stupid jokes, trying to figure out where he was, is, or will be, overselling the review, and slamming the professors as all being morons. Complete waste of $70 if you ask me. Spend that 5-8 hours studying the material that the professors gave you and your notes. You'll get a better grade and have a lot more beer money. read more

This place is a waste of time. Its a shady business run by a shady guy. With no prior experience here i thought it was worth a shot, I arrived 5 min before the session was supposed to start and paid the 65$ ( i had a 5$ coupon). It wasnt till i sat down in the class till i looked up the Yelp reviews on this place. As i read through them i was optimistic hoping for the best, but i would soon find out, all the low rated reviews turned out to be very true. The guy whose name i did not catch ( shaggy, long hair, extremely unprofessional) did not start until 4:30 - while the students in the room were just waiting around. He is very unorganized, very unprofessional and simply reads off his hand outs. Any one can do that, there is no teaching or further examples, just reading off his hand outs. He was extremely off topic, and as everyone says before, he keeps boasting how well his students do, and how all of "this is on the exam". I couldn't take anymore of it and got up and asked his assistant what the refund policy is. She replied, "we dont offer refunds." I argued that it wasnt mentioned anywhere, that there was no mention prior to the payment and that this place is a waste of time. She quickly agreed with me and returned my money while i went and gathered my things. This place is for bad students plain and simple. You will not find an A student attending these reviews because they know that cramming the night before and listening to sum bum read of some print outs will not lead to passing test grades. To pass math courses you must study regularly and practice the material. Listen to the other reviews and save money. read more
