We had A+ install an air condtioner whilst a solar system was being installed on our roof. I explained to the operation manager of A+Refrigeration that the solar system would be going to inspection, but he had his crew install the condenser and piping in such a way that the solar company would not be able to have their system pass inspection. I asked the A+ operations manager to correct his installation but he would not respond. I has to find another refrigeration company to correct A+'s mistakes at my expense. Also the A+ crew was rushed and poorly supervised, leaving caulk on our patio. read more

Michael (service manager) and my repair man (Chris) was excellent to work with. Our business had a really old deep fryer Hvac motor up on the roof that needed to be replaced and Chris worked wonders to get it done. I also used them to repair our refrigerator that stopped blowing cold air and of course, Chris did his thing and was able to get that back to life. Great company and great people. read more

I used the firm to repair my air conditioner compressor which went out during power surges from the huge SB-Ventura fire of 2017. I had the opportunity to work with the manager, Michael, who was easily able to get the air conditioner working the same day--way to go Michael! This is the kind of company I love doing business with--well managed, timely, honest, responsive, and very reasonably priced. They had come out 4-5 years ago to do a repair on the furnace of my home which eventually in my belief burned out the motor which we recently replaced and corrected problems from the updated system. Called them first. The person that answered the phone said they worked there 2 years, could not find the previous work order in their computer system based on the name and address. Even when both were carefully spelled to them several times. This individual did not speak English well, clearly a second or third language, obviously did not know how to use a computer to pull up a customer's service call 4-5 years ago. Which in fact we discovered may have burnt out the motor and could potentially caused a fire. They said they could probably get someone out in 2 weeks. This business is not A+ they are a F-. Flunked every subject as far as repairing, correcting original installation defects. We found a knowledgeable HVAC subcontractor and in the meantime used portable electric heaters and the fireplace to keep the home warm and dry which cost over $500 in electricity bills. We'll never ever use this subcontractor they are inept, don't care and if we could give them a -5 star rating certainly would. Good bye and good riddance! read more

Unprofessional, showed up late and rescheduled last minute. Did not tell us the fee for an evaluation and then said we had to pay a couple hundred dollar bill for them coming out even though they did not know what was wrong. Michael the manager tried to smooth talk us into thinking our repair was very complicated and hard to diagnose. Thankfully we got a second opinion because the second company identified and fixed the problem right away. read more

Micheal failed to explain what a "free estimate" was and good thing the repair man came and told me they were going to charge me 110 per hour just to see what was wrong. We will never use them again. Maybe explaining what an estimate consists of would be great. Instead of saying we get a free estimate he should've told me they were going to charge me 110 per hour to even see what was wrong. That didn't include fixing the problem if they could even fix it. And then when I called Michael to clear up the mistake he tried to tell me that I was wrong and tried to make me look like I didn't know what I was talking about. I have used A+ several times now, and I don't think will ever call another HVAC contractor again. I recently had a mini-split heating/AC system installed, and did most of the work myself; some of the installation I simply just did not have the equipment or skill set to do myself, and hired A+ to leak test and complete for me. Most HVAC contractors will refuse to touch a "new" system unless they sold it to you, or as my poor experience with McCormack went, will try and charge you an exorbitant amount. A+ was awesome, after I explained what I needed they agreed to send someone out at an hourly rate, tested my system, fixed one of my mistakes and switched it on.. All in all it ended up being only 2 hours of work and a $260 grand total - McCormack had quoted me a $2000 flat fee for the exact same job after trying to cancel first on short notice! read more

Beware this company they will try to scam you. Similar to other reviews written below their technician showed up for less than an hour, then left and came back with a bill for 4 hours promising if I paid now it would cover the whole service. Mike their service manager tried to convince me it was best to pay now and they would come back the next day to complete the job. I asked for a bill for the work performed but instead Mike left me with the 4 hour bill and said he would be back the next day to complete the job and collect payment. He never showed and over the course of the next few weeks made multiple new appointments for which he never came. I decided to call another company who quickly came and performed the work the same day. A month later I get a bill in the mail for the 4 hours of work for which they never came back to perform. I e-mailed asking for an explanation of the bill. I never received a response and instead a month later received another bill this time with a late fee. Again I try to reach out with no response. A month later I get served with a small claims court order. I just went ahead and paid the bill even though they never did anything and were at my house less than an hour instead of the 4 hours charged. I didn't want to waste a day fighting in court. I found out later from a family friend who is a judge in town that Mike the service manager does this all the time and make a business out of taking people to small claims court and scaring them to pay for services they did not perform. read more

We are a busy Hair Salon in Santa Barbara and we had numerous quotes from other air conditioning companies that told us we needed to replace our whole system and quoted us very high prices. A+ not only quoted us lower, they took care of our problem quickly and ordered certain parts that we needed. We love our air conditioning now and will definitely use A+ again! I called them two weeks ago to replace a broken furnace for a tenant and while they did go in to look at the unit fairly quickly, after that there was nothing for two weeks, not even an estimate for a new one, and every time I or my tenant would call to check in all we got were excuses. I definitely will not be calling again. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have received in my life. Michael on three separate occasions did not show to the scheduled appointment. He even had the audacity to tell me one of the times was because his band practice went late. I left work early each time to meet him and he either got back to me hours or even days later to tell me he needed to reschedule. Another time he told me two days later that he was on vacation during the time he scheduled the appointment with me. I should have said don't bother coming because when they did actually show the guy came for three hours (an hour an a half of which he spent on the phone) only to tell me they don't know what the problem is. They then tried to send me a bill for four hours of work. I'm still fighting the bill as there is no one at the office that will talk to me except for Michael who just denies the claims. I've since had another company come. They found the problem and fixed it right away for less than A+ is trying to charge me for telling me they don't know what the problem is.
