    Quality Doors & More

On Thursday, October 20th, I called Quality Doors and spoke with Darrell. He seemed pleasant on…read morethe phone but I later discovered he was anything but pleasant. I inquired if he had a steel, 6 panel, 36" x 79" slab door. I told him I didn't want any holes or mortises as I was replacing a wood door and didn't want to take chance of hinges and door knob not aligning correctly. While on the phone, he walked to his "warehouse" and said he did not have that door in stock. He said he had a flat door but not a 6 panel. I asked if he could order it. He stated he could have one in here late Monday for $125. I asked of his location (as I thought I was speaking with Franks Doors in Baton Rouge), and he then told me he was in Prairieville. I being from Zachary, wasn't too keen on driving out to Prairieville so I told him I'd try and find one closer..., yet if I was unable to, I'd call him back and have him order it. Friday I called Darrell back and ordered it. I had to refresh his memory as to who I was and what I wanted. Called Darrell around noon on Wednesday to get his address so I could come pick it up. He provided me with his address, I drove over, backed into drive as he was loading up his trailer with some pre-hung doors with I suppose was his employees. I'm in a wheelchair, so before I could get my chair out of the truck, his employee asked where I wanted the door. I replied, in the back of the truck. I've got a camper shell on the back, so by the time I got out of my truck, he already had the door in the back, camper shell shut. I confirmed the size of the door with him and he said it was in fact 36" wide and 79" tall. I then asked Darrell if he took a credit card. He said "No! Cash or check." He then said, "You don't need a ticket, do you? Because I just ran out of them". I said, "No, that's fine."..., then I wrote him a check for $125, got back in my truck and left for Zachary. I pulled into the Zachary Home Depot to get some paint for the door, and while getting my chair out, I peered over and could see some of the door (as it was leaning against my tailgate) and I saw it was flat. I called Darrell right then, before I even got out of my truck and told him this door was not a 6 panel, but rather a flat door. He said "We discussed this. If I couldn't get a 6 panel, I'd get you a flat door." I said politely, I don't recall having that conversation at all Darrell. Yet, I was many miles from Prairieville by now and I just figured I'd accept a flat door, paint it and it would be good enough. Thursday morning, I got up, was waiting for assistance from my brother to come unload door for me, but figured I'd see if I could do it myself. Dropped tailgate down, pulled it out on padded sawhorses and immediately saw mortises where the hinges attach. It was all primed except for these mortises, which was fresh wood. There was also a small dent on the face of the door. I grabbed my tape measure, compared it to my existing hinges on door frame and saw it wasn't going to match. Wheeled into house to stop payment on check, but he had already cashed it yesterday (Wednesday). I called him back and informed him of the mortises on the door. Again, he replied with "Listen...., we discussed this..." I interrupted him and said "No, you listen, we didn't discuss this. I ordered a 6-panel door without mortises and I have one that is neither of the two, and... He interrupted back with "Who the f--- do you think you are? I asked him the same. His reply was, bring the g.d. door back then. I said I would bring it back but it wasn't going to end there. Conversation was ended. He called me back a minute later and said he was in Baton Rouge and he'd come pick the door up if I provided him my address, which I did. While waiting, I called the manufacturer and inquired if that model (I provided her with the model number) came with mortises for the hinges. She said that some did and some did not, but that if they were mortised, they were all primed down the wood edge of the door. This door was not. Appears he had this door in his "warehouse" a year or so (date on door was 04-2015) that was returned for whatever reason after mortising for hinges and he wanted to get rid of it. He came, walked up to me, didn't say a word, pulled out a roll of bills, peeled off some twenty's and gave to me, then pulled out a five and handed it to me. My fault for not counting it correctly. I put the bills in my checkbook cover while he took the door to his truck. I said "That door...", but he interrupted me and said "I don't want to talk to you brother"..., chuckled as he got in his truck and drove off. I pulled the money he presented me with, out of my checkbook cover 30 minutes later and realized he had only given me $105 (not $125). This guy not only lies, but he cheats as well, and doesn't care if the fella is handicapped in wheelchair on a fixed income or not.

I just moved into my home and I hated my front door. Wanted something that would stand out and…read moremake a statement. Went to all the box stores and looked around but I couldn't find anything that I liked. Decided then that I needed a custom door. Found this site and they were able to build me the door of my dreams! I'm so happy! I highly recommend this company to anyone!!
