We passed Mount Baldy, the "living" sand dune that moves, at Indiana Dunes National Park and made it all the way down to a good view of the Century of Progress homes before making our way back. We also got to hear all about the ship, the Emita II, which is a historic ship from the 1950s, and about how it reached its current home. It was also very cute that Captain Jan had the kids come up and take turns at the wheel on the way back. There is a snack bar on the lower level of the boat, and there are restrooms on board. Free parking is available a little walk away - walk towards the Lighthouse Museum, as the dock is behind there. Definitely a great adventure!

Also, originally we were going to get picked up from Chicago Union Station, and we changed it to Homewood two days before before we left. There was no charge, and the person on the phone at Americar shuttle changed the reservation quickly, courteously, and no change in price. They seem very flexible and customer oriented.

I had one small issue - they charged me the final balance one day earlier than I anticipated but! I spoke with a gentleman on the phone (sorry forgot his name!) and he was incredibly apologetic and offered to immediately reverse the charge; it wasn't necessary but his sincere apology and genuine desire to provide superior customer service was excellent. While I didn't actually ride on the bus I booked - my POC for the bus was VERY pleased - she said, the driver, Guy, was very nice, polite and professional - he said he did a great job at both the pick up and drop off. His next response, was well this is what it says on my phone and I have another limo group I have to get to. He dropped us off and sped away. I also asked our driver to give us a heads up when we had about 10 minutes before we needed to leave. He never did this. And in fact when I rounded up our group to go to the second stop he was parked down in the parking area chatting with another driver. I've planned over 20 wine trips around the country, and I've never had a driver do these things. I called the office several times and was told a manager would contact me, of course they never did.

She had called all around and had only found one place locally that had a party bus unreserved, due to a bad previous experience with that company, I told her I did not want to use them. She offered to give us two of their 10 seater limos. The wedding party had to split up, which I was really bummed about, but I understand accidents happen. I'm happy they were upfront and honest and the drivers were very polite. I do wish they had offered a discount due to the inconvenience but all in all I was happy with their service and would use them again.

First, we walked 2 times around the entire venue and parking lots searching for him, as he kept saying he was "dropping the pin with his location"...we never found him! We all tried calling him numerous times as well and all he could say was "I don't know where I am... or I don't know where you guys are!" Are you kidding me?? What kind of person that has absolutely no sense of direction becomes a driver? It was an awful end to a great night. AND to top it all off, I have gotten no response from the company except that they needed to talk to the driver first and they would get neck to me. NOPE!! Nothing! We went looking for Amy money back, I just wanted an explanation and an apology! Definitely will never use Avanti again (which is a shame because we used to use them years ago all of the time) and we will spread the word of our horrible experience! If I could give zero stars, I certainly would! Unbelievable!
