This is a semi-retired plumber, Brian Wadley, who mainly does small household jobs. I chose him because he was able to come the same day I had called and none of the bigger companies could do that. I had him look at the master and guest toilets. He replaced a couple of parts in the guest toilet and snaked toilet in the master bath (and installed a new handle that I had previously bought but didn't really know how to install myself). He charged $120 ($50 for parts and $70 for labour).
He was very good humoured and seemed knowledgeable and experienced. He smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, so bear that in mind if you're sensitive to third-hand smoke.
The repairs seemed to go quickly; however, after he left, I discovered that a) the toilet he snaked still had "lazy flush" and a lot of black scratch marks from the snake, and b) the toilet with replaced flapper and fill valve didn't flush without holding the handle down for the entire flush cycle. He did not take my calls or return messages left on his answer phone. I finally rang another plumbing company in Collingwood he claimed to have owned or worked for and they helped me over the phone at no charge (Bloomfield Plumbing).
I think Mr Wadley is good for simple jobs you don't feel you can tackle yourself, but make sure that the work is done completely to your satisfaction before he leaves. read more
