The situation ultimately ended with a form-letter notice that the clinic would no longer continue care. In my case, "patient safety" was cited as the reason for discontinuing treatment. While safety should always be the priority, it appeared to be used here in place of typical follow-up measures such as dose adjustment or targeted lab evaluation during active symptoms. What is most concerning is not that treatment required adjustment--this is common in hormone therapy--but that there was no meaningful attempt to isolate variables or collaboratively manage the response. Patients considering TRT should be aware that this type of therapy often requires individualized dosing and careful follow-up. In my experience, that flexibility was not demonstrated. PLEASE be aware that Medicare will NOT approve these charges in full & consequently your secondary insurance will also not reimburse you for the total charges. It was explained to me by my insurance company that under federal law, the provider should be paying me a refund since the doctor's charges were NOT approved by Medicare after the they were submitted. I did not pursue this however, as I am fairly certain they will argue that their policy is that the patient must make full payment at the time of the service. On July 25, 2025 I was seen again with concerns over sutures left in my scalp. I was told they would eventually work themselves out. It is now a full year & 2 months after my surgery & those sutures are still a nuisance for me, and often get infected. When I complained about this recently to the receptionist by phone, she never returned with an explanation from the doctor. She asked if I wished to schedule an appointment, which knowing I would be charged for it again, I declined. I was warned by my insurance company to avoid & beware of doctors who do not accept insurance & overcharge for procedures. I will NOT be returning to Dr. Grant.

When I arrived, they had a nurse practitioner see me, who told me that she wasn't qualified to see me and that I needed to see a dermatologist, which is what I had requested. She then told me they had a dermatologist on staff and would make an appointment for me with this person. When I arrived, the doctor told me he wasn't a dermatologist, but had some knowledge in dermatology. However, he had no knowledge of the service I was requesting. So, once again, I was lied to about the service I would be provided. My suggestion would be to avoid this clinic. If they aren't able to honestly represent what they can offer, it makes me wonder about the quality of care.

It's gotten so bad that when I originally went to Unity Medical I was unable to properly walk without a wheelchair. I would have days where I could walk, but I always needed help with doing basic things in life like showering. Without Unity Medical I would not have good quality of life. I owe them everything. My debt of gratitude is great for not just Dr. Kastendieck, but the entire staff. They have help me through a lot over the past 10 years.
