I think the reviews speak for itself but I am so happy to write a review for A Grand Affaire Catering. Monica and her entire staff are nothing short of amazing. Before the event, Monica was great about communicating (she's a pretty busy lady!), answering my questions, and met up with me prior to go over details on the day of. She was incredibly flexible and worked with me to create a menu that catered to what I envisioned. I could listen to her all day explaining the extensive and delicious menu they have. I still get compliments about their pasta! :) On the day of, there were unexpected scattered showers, so Monica and her team quickly helped my friends transition everything under the tent and dry off many of the things that had gotten wet. We were grateful for their care and concern that went beyond their individual roles. Monica was also great about following up with me after the event. I've used A Grande Affaire for several of my events now, and each time, the food, service, and response has been excellent. I've used them from smaller events (showers, etc) to larger events (holiday parties, gatherings, professional catering), and they've been top notch every single time. On a secondary note, I've noticed that they've begun to update their dinnerware and casing so that as much as possible was compostable, recyclable, or reusable. I'm really surprised no one else has reviewed this great catering company. We recently had them cater our wedding and our experience was terrific. Seattle is a foodie town, so like most brides here, I put a lot of emphasis on great food. After a little research into catering prices, I felt like I would probably have to lower my expectations and settle for "fine" instead of "amazing" food if I wanted to stay within budget. Lucky for me, I found A Grand Affaire and didn't have to compromise either my taste or my budget. The food was excellent - almost every guest at the wedding made a point to tell me how surprised and pleased they were that the food was SO amazing. Everything was tasty but highest marks went to their savory chevre cheesecake - an inspired dish! In addition to that, their set menu offered great variety, including 3 entrée options. When you have friends with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, no dairy etc), you can't just offer chicken and call it good. I was also able to make a few modifications to the set menu without the price changing at all. The experience working with the company was also stellar. We handled most everything by email and had one in-person consultation - their efficiency and competency allowed me to focus my attention on the million other things on my list. My husband and I had our wedding catered by A Grand Affaire last year. Everything was so perfect, that every time I think about our wedding reception, I smile and reminisce. How many people do you know have thought that way of their wedding caterer more then a year later? Monica is amazing. I thought I was pretty high maintenance when I wanted a private tasting, constant menu changes, several guest count changes AND a meetup at the venue to discuss seating and room changeovers..... for only 45 people. Well, A Grand Affaire never made me feel that way. Monica treated us as if we were her only customers! The food: I am a cook by profession, so I was very picky when looking for a caterer. Monica personally held a private tasting (more like a gourmet dinner!) for us that blew our mind! All of the food was spectacular and their apple-riesling chicken is to die for. I still remember each and every menu item we had on our dinner buffet and it's making my mouth water just thinking back on it. We had everything from stuffed flank steak, to pistachio crusted chevre served on rose petals. We received so many complements! There were even a ton of leftovers that were boxed up for us to take home. I was surprised because both of our families are notorious big eaters. The staff. The staff were helpful, attentive and efficient. I came an hour early to the venue to set up some decorations, and everything was set up and ready to go! The bartender was nice and Monica even showed up to our reception to make sure everything was perfect! I work in the restaurant business and I've never even heard of an OWNER showing up to a small wedding to ensure perfection. Monica, it was perfect. The cost. We received quotes from several other catering companies that we were considering. This place doesn't have hidden fees. For example, my quote from Lisa Dupar catering had everything from $900 worth of rental equipment (chafers, linens, plates, etc) to corkage fees and insanely high staffing fees. When Monica gave me a cost breakdown, it seemed like all of the other catering companies were trying to rip me off. A Grand Affaire charged a fraction of what the other guys charge, with no corkage fees. All I had to do was get a $10 Banquet Permit which took 5 minutes down at the liquor store. One last thing. My husband and I are avid fans of Marcrina Bakery's Herbed Baguette. A Grand Affaire serves Essential Baking Company (Which neither of us like) bread on their buffet. Before the wedding Monica comes in with a bag full of Macrina Herbed Baguettes! She went down to Macrina and bought them specifically for our 45 person buffet. I'm still floored at how perfect everything was. If you want to remember how good everything was at your wedding YEARS down the line, go with A Grand Affaire. You will never forget. read more

After getting proposals from four caterers, our son and daughter-in-law chose A Grand Affaire Catering for their wedding reception. All the particulars were worked out between the bride and Emily (their contact with the caterer), and we were kept in the loop because this is how we helped to pay for the wedding. Every interaction was professional and grace-filled. Monica, the owner, has assembled a wonderful team of staff. Professionally dressed in black with long serving aprons, they did a top-notch job of serving our guests, even my sister who has a very limited diet-- the chef, Luis, prepared something specific to her needs, and we weren't charged extra for that. I'm trying to remember the menu -- there were these pretty little gourmet herb and pistachio encrusted chevre cheese balls, a yummy salad with a lot of good stuff in it (too blurry of a memory to recall!), a delicious bow-tie pasta with a lot of meat in the sauce, a panko style chicken. Artisan bread. I probably forgot some things. Everything was really delicious. We got a lot of compliments on the food. The buffet presentation was just beautiful -- I've been to alot of weddings and I think this buffet was really the prettiest, with fabric and flowers to match the wedding, candlesticks, jeweled picture frames with the names of the menu items, too. A lot of detail went into the buffet set-up. The staff was so hardworking and attentive. Our guests began to feel welcome and taken care of from the beginning, with a passed hors d'oeuvre, and then after dinner the champagne pour. They did a nice job of busing tables -- sometimes caterers can be over-zealous and throw out people's drinks and cake while dancing, and I didn't see them doing anything like that. A couple of times I looked around that reception and wanted to do the happy dance. Weddings cost a lot of money, and a good caterer can really make or break the day. If you are a lover of elegance, and you just want really good food, served with beauty and grace, you have to give this caterer a chance. No regrets at all. read more

Reflecting back on the 8 months from when I first contacted Monica to our wedding night, I have nothing but great things to say about Monica and her whole team! Not only are they real professionals, but A Grand Affaire Catering is very affordable, especially when considering the variety of options each menu has. I really still have trouble believing it was all included in the price. Most importantly however, the food was absolutely delicious. We had AGA Express Catering drop off food for our small wedding. Monica was very easy to work with, the delivery was prompt and most important of all, the food was amazing!! A number of my guests came up to specifically tell me how good my food was. Crowd favorites were the Shrimp & Tofu Salad Rolls and the Apple Riesling Chicken Roulades. The way the hot food is packaged keeps it warm enough to leave plenty of time to serve appetizers before setting out your entrees. We contacted Monica with short notice for a company event and have nothing but great things to say! With less than a weeks notice (and while she was on vacation), she was able to put together a proposal we were more than pleased with. Our order even included disposable plates and silverware to save us a trip to Costco and ensure easy clean up! Our food arrived on time and our order was exactly what we were quoted. The food was delicious and all of our attendees went back for seconds (I won't lie, some even thirds and fourths)! We will definitely be using A Grand Affaire again! I'm not even sure where to begin with this review other than to say we had the perfect wedding other than the catering company we hired. First off I had my initial site visit with the owner of A Grand Affaire a few weeks before the wedding. She showed up late, told us we needed to rent our own cooking equipment( we hired them because she said they could prepare food onsite without a kitchen), had the wrong menu, had a list of items she wanted me to rent in addition to what was originally discussed and even went as far as to try to change our wedding day schedule to accommodate the catering companies needs! I said no to most of these changes and we agreed on what would happen at the wedding. Day of the wedding...The chef showed up 20 min late and just stood there until the others graced us with their presence40 minutes later. During the ceremony they realized they forgot some items for the coffee station and drove off down the gravel driveway behind us interrupting our vows. Despite being late and unprepared they had the food served on time. However, We ordered this amazing cheesecake dish and only 8 of our guest were able to enjoy it because they only brought a few slices of bread. 8 is not not enough to serve our 65 guests and noone wants to eat a pile of cream cheese without something to put it on. Then there was the service... We paid for a Buffett dinner with servers so they could clear plates, pour water, etc... We had to ask them to pour the water 15 minutes after the meal started and then ASK them to start clearing plates after our toasts. They said they were told that wasn't one of their job responsibilities (something Monica, the owner pushed for but I wouldn't agree to since we were paying for it). The last thing I can't even begin to wrap my mind around is the mess they left for us! We rented them a bbq to cook on (ridiculous right, you would think a catering company would provide their own stuff) and they left it a disaster! We spent a good 20 minutes the next morning reheating and cleaning it, then cleaning food off of their cooking area floor, and taking he garbage they left to the dump. I would cook my own food in a wedding dress before hiring this company again. The servers were very nice and the food was great but everything else was so frustrating. I lost so much sleep over working with Monica. I felt bullied and pissed off after working with A Grand Affaire because no one should pay $3000 for a half ass meal. I wouldn't reckoned this company to anyone especially a bride getting married. I hope this review saves you from the horrible experience we had. My husband don't want to hear any more justifications from the company. Nothing can make better what was screwed up on our wedding day. At this point we just to be left alone. read more

A Grand Affaire catered our wedding. I couldn't have been happier with Monica. She set up several meetings with us, went over the spacing, timing, and menu of our wedding and catering, and was incredibly helpful creating the dining experience we wanted while being respectful of our budget and providing advice. If this review was for Monica alone it would be 5 stars. However the day of our event was a different experience. The catering crew arrived an hour and a half late to set up. They did not follow the detailed floor plan that Monica had provided them which allowed space for both our ceremony and our reception. What work had been done needed to be redone. Things were so late and chaotic that our bridal party and family ended up having to assist setting up the room up to the minute guests started arriving. The bartender provided was only mediocre, with no knowledge of basic recipes such as Manhattans or old fashions. The food was great, but not all of the items we had discussed and confirmed on the menu were present, and some of the food that did show up was deconstructed versions of what we had decided with Monica (I assume due to the late arrival). All of the above being said, there was food present and the staff for the most part was friendly and attentive. It seems that our experience was out of the norm with fellow yelpers, it's just unfortunate that ours was the outlier. read more

This is more like 3.5 stars. My fiancé and I had considered Grand Affaire for our upcoming wedding and I contacted Monica for quotes. She was very professional and timely in her responses and her quotes seemed very reasonable. She also invited us to one of their open house tastings. The appetizers we had at the tasting were great but when we tried the entrees we were severely disappointed. The entrees (chicken and beef) and sides had way too much salt and seemed over-cooked. The salad seemed old and wilted. Several months later we attended a friend's wedding that was catered by Grand Affaire and had a much better experience. The food tasted much fresher, not over cooked, and not too salty. The appetizers were also great and several guests were raving about them. The staff was friendly and courteous. I'd like to think the bad tasting was a fluke and would probably recommend this catering company. read more

We hired A Grand Affaire to cater my 60th birthday party. It was an open house and we were expecting 35-40 guests. Monica was great at helping us select the right variety of cold and warm platters. The food was delivered on time and the warm food was still warm as promised. The platters were beautifully arranged and it was just the right quantity. They were the one of the preferred caterers for our wedding reception venue, and we ended up choosing them primarily because of their great menu options (which were all on their website, but they'll change it up for you too!) Monica is wonderful. Super friendly, professional, and helpful. She worked with us to get the menu we wanted and was always willing to change things up. We had a buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres, and used their bar services as well. We were able to provide our own alcohol with no corkage fees, and they did a champagne pass for us too. Cake cutting was also included. Our team day-of was awesome, arrived on schedule and got right to work. They were all smiling and friendly and the event moved along seamlessly. Monica was quick to respond to all my emails and was very thorough and helpful in planning a menu. She was also able to recommend alcohol amounts and referred me to a party rental company. I used the AGA express platters for my small wedding and got a lot of compliments on the food. The variety of options allowed for me to stick to an entirely vegetarian menu, which was exactly what I wanted, that satisfied even my non-vegetarian guests. I also hired a bartender from A Grand Affaire, Ramona, who was great! She was professional and helped with setup and cleanup in addition to serving drinks. The food and bartender were both on time and the whole night went perfectly. The only thing I would say is that the photos available of the party platters (on Facebook) are outdated. My food was actually better looking and much larger than the photos led me to believe. I would definitely use A Grand Affaire again for any future events. read more

We got married a few years ago, but I just have to get this off my chest. This company basically ruined our wedding. Monica (the owner) was out of town during our wedding, so maybe the people left in charge weren't experienced enough to be left to run things. We chose a buffet. The minute I saw the food laid out I knew it wasn't enough. I could just tell by looking. Sure enough, many of our guests never ate due to a food shortage! Aside from catering, we hired someone from Grand Affaire to be a wedding planner/helper to make sure things ran smoothly. You would think she would have ordered pizza or something to make sure the guests at least got something. I didn't realize what happened until after my wedding and it was too late- the only reason I found out was through guests. Mainly, I would have appreciated a heads up to have a chance to resolve the situation. To make matters worse, I ordered a few different flavors of cake from another vendor to give guests a choice. I distinctly told Grand Affaire to make sure each guest only got one piece to start to make sure we had enough. Later I found out the servers handed out multiple flavors to the same people before others got a chance to get any (probably because they were hungry from not eating), so many people didn't get cake either! We (bride and groom didn't even get a slice)! We planned the wedding for a year and now when I look at pictures, instead of having happy memories all I can think of is this. Food is one of the most important things at a wedding and what guests look forward to! Grand Affaire gave a refund for the people who didn't eat but I don't think it was enough of a compensation. Many guests started with salad and light plates thinking they could go back for seconds, so they didn't eat much either. My wedding was vegetarian. Monica mentioned that maybe her workers were confused because they usually serve meat and expected to have that as a main dish, so didn't prepare properly... but why advertise that you can handle a vegetarian wedding when you can't. Another downside was that they didn't offer final tastings. The food we did end up with was just ok. Nothing special. read more
