I don't know how it happened, but it did…read more I lost my beloved Gordon almost 5 years ago. When I moved to Chicago in 2018 I immediately put in applications for the English Bulldog rescues. I knew it would be a long process, I didn't expect it to be impossible. One of them denied my application because of their income guidelines that evidently only Jay-Z could qualify for, but ONLY if Beyoncé co-signs the deal. When I was really really ready to have a dog in my life early last year, I applied to foster with another local bully rescue. We had a great phone interview, they claimed to be "impressed" with me, but they don't allow people in high-rises to foster. Some of the dogs don't like elevators. Why we went through that whole process when they could see my address, I don't know. I started researching breeders. Another undertaking that would likely take me years to find a good one and wait for the litter. It wasn't part of my regular routine at all, but I decided to go on pet finder one day and I saw this meatball at a rescue, recently listed. I applied right away. When I didn't get a confirmation e-mail that they received it, I called the next day. I was told that they'd rejected me because this love bug needs a family. Vicki didn't seem insulted when I told her that I know she knows what's best for her animals, but to please reconsider. I didn't expect to hear back. 20 minutes later i had a date to meet the guy the next day. And he's a dreamboat, so I was ready to kidnap him anyway but his two care takers decided we'd be a good fit. I wasn't the first applicant, or the only good one, either, I was told afterwards. Sorry everyone else! His name is Norman. He's about 3 years old. His limited history made it clear that his last "home" wasn't ideal. He was dumped at a dog pound, was found by someone connected to this rescue, and they bailed him out. My intuition tells me that he wasn't anyone's pet. He was likely used for breeding (he was neutered just before I got to take him home.) He couldn't get enough affection, attention, or enough to eat. He loves any soft surfaces and when he got his own bed, he looked like he won the lottery. It's been just over two months and this guy has come so far and has made me so proud of him. He's confident enough to not run over for attention just because I look at him. He leaves food in his bowl! He's learned how to play with his toys, people, and he's recently gotten playful with his friends from the dog run at my building. He was always a sweet boy from the moment we met, but he's learning to be a dog, it seems. He still uses me for a napkin whenever he wants, which is right on track. Dogs are the best. This guy had no reason to like anyone, but he can't help himself. He's a people person. He is a notorious party crasher if we happen to be walking by one in one of the lobby areas. He had no reason to trust me, but he does. And that brings me more joy than I can possibly express. I thank the hard rescue workers for what they do every day. We have adopted 2 different dogs from Fetching tails this past year. Fetching tails responded to…read moreour inquiry almost immediately, which is amazing for a volunteer run organization. We were able to set up a time to meet the dog (each time) quickly even though I have a an irregular schedule. They took the time to make sure we knew what would be required in caring for the dogs as well as visiting our home to ensure it would be a safe and appropriate place for a pet to live. In each adoption they were very helpful and informative, never seemed bothered by my endless questions and continue to be in touch with us for updates and questions. I highly recommend viewing their adoptable dogs online or attending one of their events if you are thinking about adding a meme we to your family .

They use a stepping stone method from inhale to home. The pups start in a triage shelter to ensure the dogs are healthy through vet visits, stabilize the pups after any transit, and to get to know the intricacies of the individual characteristics of the new arrivals. They use this information to pair up the dogs with foster homes, helping the pups learn how to live in a caring environment and structured routines. This helps prepare the dogs for success at the next step which is adoption. Some dogs are so well adapted to the new surroundings that they can skip ahead in the process but others need time to decompress from the trauma they experienced. Again, this places has a mission to help dogs find their perfect home. Feel free to volunteer with the organization as I do, sign up as a foster, or even adopt a new family member. You will enjoy it and appreciate this place.

Finally you get a phone call however missed the call. Call back within 10 mins and than they ignore all forms of contract you attempt. They than rename the dog you are interested in and repost on their fb page. When questioned your comments get deleted along with others who state the same thing. I was blocked from the page after asking why I received a phone call than was ghosted. Screenshot the call log to proof they contacted me and they stated just because I applied doesn't mean I'll be a good match.... Which I understand however what I don't understand is why did they contact me just to ignore very unprofessional and seems like a way to just get people to apply and pay for the adoption fees.

He accepted us quickly and loves our 6 year old golden retriever. He has even softened our senior cat thru his love, pests and great personality. McCoy is a very loving and it is a joy to be a part of his world. The foster parents do a wonderful WONDERFUL job of helping kitties mature. McCoy loves his belly rubs; follows you around, and, absolutely loves to play fetch. He is better at fetch then the dog. He is a real talker so we are brushing up on our Catonian so we can converse. McCoy brings a smile to our faces multiple times a day. Thank you Sharon and HELP for our little gem. After the recent passing of my beloved dog, I made the decision to find another companion. I found…read morethe most adorable pup who was fostered through H.E.L.P. (Home for Endangered and Lost Pets). I filled out my application and submitted. I was immediately contacted by Erica via email and then again the next day by phone call. During this phone call Erica was quite frazzled, stressed, and stated she's "tired of people, she does this and has a family and job too". She seemed overwhelmed and not happy being a volunteer with so many animals. She proceeded to ask me questions that actually where already on my application, but I happily answered. She called my vet to verify the status of my current dog. There was a mix up in vaccination records, his vaccinations were done somewhere else, so the vet had no record. I was able to clear that up, or at least I was led to believe I cleared it up by Erica. However, while I was being honest, open, and doing what needed to be done to adopt, which entailed a quick vet visit, Erica was not so honest. She had accepted another application, at the same time she was working with me, still leading me to believe this pup would be mine. She didn't disclose this to me at anytime, even though we had numerous texts back and forth. My vet visit was scheduled for 1:00 pm. Erica was informed of this at 8:30 am, and responded with "keep me posted". An hour later I'm told there's another applicant and more texts back and forth. As I'm going to vet appointment, I received another text from Erica coldly stating "Sorry she's adopted you'll find another dog". So, in a matter of 3 hours, the pup I was supposed adopt was adopted by someone else!!?? I will find another dog, but not with this place. Erica has definitely given adopting a rescue a bad reputation.
