I'm writing this review in response to work I had done several years ago. This was, by far, the…read moreworst experience I've ever had with a contractor. I had a sunroom redone -- new floor, new support posts, ceiling, lighting, etc. During the entire process, Bob was extremely unpleasant, to put it mildly. That would be fine, if the work was done well. It most certainly was not. The floor was a complete disaster. A wide plank floor with gaps up to 1/8" in between planks. A sanding and stain job that looked like it was done by someone who's never installed a floor before. Sanding circles all over the floor and bubbles in the poly virtually everywhere. The ceiling planks weren't installed properly and separated and cracked just days after install. The drywall repair was done horribly, the mud wasn't sanded properly and they painted over everything before it dried. To top it all off, they initially put in the wrong supports under the sunroom, only to replace them with the "proper" ones that they decided to cut too short, causing the entire room to separate from the house by about 1/4". For you own sake, if you're reading this review please stay away from these clowns.

We didn't even end up replacing all of them giving our time expectations to remain in the dwelling. The subcontractor who came was young but friendly and was able to replace the windows in a short period of time. Most importantly he cleaned up whatever debris remained. 8 weeks later no issues and the windows look great.

The service was top notch and I found communication to be responsive and advice to be sound. The crew was very friendly and stayed to task knowing that time was of the essence for me. I have been very happy in my new home and they added touches I requested and even had suggestions I would have never thought of but love the things I incorporated at their recommendation. I would highly recommend hiring Christof and his crew for any project. You won't be sorry. Our local building inspector was very impressed with the team and the end result. They stayed true to their initial quote although I had some changes as we went along and most were provided within the cost quoted. Phenomenal!

( The VA makes no payment until the work is complete and passes Inspection by the VA.) C.M. Chartier, Completed all work very fast and did a very good job. I have hired C.M. Chartier for several other projects and Highly Recommend this Company and I believe that all the Employees from the Office staff to the Men and Woman that do the work are Neat, Clean and Polite People. We did a large renovation and moved into the house in 2014…read more I really enjoyed working with his crew but I'm left feeling like a lot of corners were cut in the finish work. The met their move in expectation within 10% of the original forecast and were within a couple points of budget (although I micromanaged the budget with more granularity than they did). It was relatively smooth sailing for the first 90% of the project. By the end of the project, however, Doug and I had a very hard time seeing eye-to-eye. I was, in hindsight, likely pretty high maintenance. That being said, the small issues I was focused on have grown into larger issues. For example, the electrician was absolutely horrendous -- sloppy, inexperienced (I had to teach him how to splice Cat5 cable after Googling it myself), and just unprofessional. He used the cheapest outlets possible - many of which still don't work properly. Closet lights don't work, the electrical panel is completely mislabeled, I have no faith in Cat5 working aside from those I did and QA'ed. The painters were a point of frustration, too. They did a very rushed and messy job and the the exterior has more peeling paint and rot after 4 years than our last house did after 20+ years. Another example, we have a tile company coming this week to fix some tiles that (for the 3rd time) have fallen out and to repair grout that has already cracked and fallen out. I believe the house is generally of solid quality but the amount of work we have to put into the house has been disappointing, to say the least. In their defense, they offered to do any remaining warranty work (I had a Google Doc listing outstanding items after we had moved in) but Doug has made it pretty clear he doesn't want to work with us on any additional projects, so I'm hesitant to trust the level of craftsmanship to fix existing projects.

They had done such a great job replacing our roof several years ago, I did not think of calling anyone else. In spite of the weather, the roof was repaired in February. A great job performed by skilled craftsmen. Last week, Jennifer called to ask if it was OK for Don and Gary to come by this past Monday at 8AM to replace the siding. They arrived about 30 minutes early, and by 1 PM, the site was cleaned and cleared and they were gone. It was as though the windstorm had never happened. I cannot express how impressed I am with Robert, Jennifer and everyone I have met from Eyles. BTW, though I sent the Insurance adjuster's paperwork with my request, Robert sent a quote that was below the adjuster's estimate. I am so impressed by my experience with Eyles, that as soon as I receive and invoice, I drive to the office to pay it. I want to make sure that they are in business in the future if I need them.

Thomas Buckborough and Associates immediately returned my call and within a couple of days I had an estimate and a completion time-frame that met my needs. I received a few other estimates eventually but the one I received from Thomas Buckborough was the best. His firm completed the work when promised and did so to the highest standards. Lets just say I'm not a fan of chasing my contractor to find out when they will or will not show up. Especially when it is weeks of non-communication and then I have to reach out to find out where the contractor is to be told they will show up and then weeks go by again and they don't. (2) Poor workmanship on quite a few items by his crew with no project management oversight to correct issues as they arose. Only showing up when things had to be fixed and taking his crews word that items were done and done well versus seeing for himself. Interior bedroom doors put in but door jams not properly flushed (my mom and I had to fix it ourselves), windows installed so improperly that the owner himself had to come out to fix what his crew messed up, and even something as simple as caulking a bathroom tub had to be redone by the owner as the crew couldn't handle even that. (3) Incomplete projects that were partially started and then never completed to the point where after numerous excuses and being ghosted for months, I finally had to cancel the contract with this company and hire another company at increased cost just to complete the projects that this company started and never finished. This included exterior windows, exterior siding and exterior door. Portions of these incomplete (door sils, window sils and exterior siding) items were open to the elements for months during the dead of winter. Some projects I had on contract never even got started from bathroom vent and barn door installation. Overall, I would NOT recommend this company. The owner is very nice and he has one really good worker he calls "bob the builder" but overall the rest of the team seems pretty inexperienced. I would rather have a contractor that is less personable but did the job, versus one that is nice but can't execute it. The owner while very nice does not communicate well and does not conduct good project oversight management or he would have been on top of his crew when they made major errors and provided subpar workmanship.
