Scott's Kennels

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Scott's Kennels…read more They cared for my senior dog, Moxie, for nearly a week while I was over 3,000 miles away for work--and to say I was nervous would be an understatement. Moxie has special needs (a form of epilepsy) and very little experience staying in a kennel, so I was deeply concerned not only for her health, but also for how she would handle the stress of a new environment. I checked in twice while I was away, just to make sure everything was okay. Each time, the staff reassured me with such genuine warmth and kindness. It was immediately clear how much they cared about her--they spoke about Moxie like she was their own. I was so touched to learn that they were taking her out for extra one-on-one time and giving her special attention beyond the standard routine. When I picked her up, I was honestly amazed. She was happy, playful, and--somehow--even healthier than when I dropped her off. I had prepared special meals and treats for her, and they followed everything carefully and thoughtfully. (They also offer the option to use their food, which is great for flexibility.) The facility itself is incredibly clean, and the staff are not only professional but truly compassionate animal lovers. It's clear they spent a tremendous amount of time monitoring her, caring for her needs, and making sure she was comfortable and safe. It's now been over 24 hours since I brought her home, and I genuinely feel like she is an even happier, healthier dog after her stay--which is something I never expected. I had worried I might come home to a stressed dog who refused to eat or had experienced a seizure. Instead, I found the exact opposite. I highly, highly recommend Scott's Kennels. They gave me complete peace of mind, and I now know that if I ever need to travel again, Moxie will be in the best possible hands.

Went here with the wife last Sunday, and she kept uttering the phrase, "I'm in heaven!" For the…read morerecord, I think it's pretty cool, too. We've both driven by here many times, but never thought to check it out. I thought it was a landscape material company ... in some ways, it is, but there's so much more. Primarily, they specialize in landscaping water features, such as ponds and waterfalls. They can design and build a water feature for you, or sell you the materials and supplies if you want to do the work yourself. Outside, to the left of the store, there are several installations of man-made ponds and waterfalls, some with koi fish or goldfish. You will also find several footbridges to enhance your yard. Indoors, the store has several rooms, including a room dedicated to one of my wife's favorite hobbies: fairy gardens. She told me the prices for fairy garden accessories here are less expensive than the chain stores. Another room features pond basins and pumps. Yet another room features clearance items. The main part of the store has all sorts of cool yard/porch accessories, such as wind chimes and solar lights. But wait, there's more ... If you walk out the back of the store, you will find a large area with a wide selection of birdbaths, fountains and statues, as well as tanks where they keep their fish. The merchandise is beautiful; some of the prices are, well, pricey, but we definitely got some bargains, including a smaller, basic-yet-elegant fountain for $15. I have to add a basin and pump, but it's a good deal on a key component for one of my many yard projects. My wife also bought a cool-looking self-contained tabletop fountain with lights from the clearance section; it had been a display model, but was perfectly functional. At less than $30, even I was okay with that impulse buy. An older woman who was a newer employee was very friendly and helpful, and shared my wife's enthusiasm for the store. A younger gentleman who rang up my purchases was not quite so vocal, but he was helpful nevertheless. Safe to say, we will be returning here!

Nice water features. Great staff. Always something interesting to buy for a gift or to keep.read more

My dogs also had an anal gland problem. My vet didn't see an issue. Because smelly dog and anal gland problems aren't serious health issues. But it was an annoyance in my life. Someone told me about Thomaston feed and how I might want to switch foods. So I went over to Cheshire one day and Nicci switched me to different brand of food called natures variety. She said because it's a richer food, I don't have to feed as much. My dog was overweight at the time so she told me to feed him a little less. Which is perfect because I have dachshunds and it is dangerous for them to be over weight because they are prone to back problems. Within a week of them being in the new food, they stopped smelling. I couldn't believe it. When we ran out of the Natures Variety, my father started feeding them pedigree without my knowledge and I noticed them smelling again!! And sure enough I found out they had been eating something different. There is no denying that there are good and bad foods out there for your dog. And Nicci is very passionate and will take the time to explain the difference between the different foods. And it turned out she was right! My dogs are older now. I have a 10 year old and a 14 year old and they are now extremely healthy and active!
