Theyre only good for overpriced haircuts. I asked for a the first picture with is brown highlights and it ended up looking orange (2nd picture) My hair was 100% virgin and they ruined it. 200$ went to waste. read more

I don't know who else is writing these reviews but I can tell you that not only did they not honor the Groupon I bought for a color, cut and blow dry properly but gave me poor results with what they did do. When making the appointment they gave you the impression that they were so busy that they could not give you the day or time you needed. I compromised and went when they had an opening. When I arrived there was just one other customer there! That in itself should have told me to get out fast. That's the problem I find with the majority of groupons that I have bought. Company's or restaurants that really suck are the ones offering Groupons. At least with a bad meal I can walk out and shake it off. A bad hair experience will take months to resolve. Saving my pennies for a real salon experience the next time. No more Groupons or A CUT ABOVE for me. read more

Went this past Saturday with a Groupon and couldn't be happier! Cut, color and blowout. Saw Andrea, very nice! Got tons of compliments! Will definitely be back! Michelle Granucci read more

I was in search of a new salon, close to home I saw a groupon for A cut Above & decided to give it a shot. I could not be happier! The staff are very friendly & attentive. It was busy when I first arrived so I waited a lil while, but I was never forgotten, the girls came by to ck on me, if I needed or wanted anything to drink.. Victoria did my hair, I got my base, high lights & a cut & blow out. She asked questions about my hair style preference, & she offered her thoughts on what she thought would look good. In the end 100% satisfied! I LUV MY HAIR & my new hair stylist, I've already booked my next appt! If your looking for a new hair salon with reasonable pricing & a great staff, I HIGHLY recommend A Cut Above. Great location, & parking in the back read more

Unhappy with my results for the price. Very expensive and I left disappointed with a bad short hair cut that I now have to wait for it to grow out. read more

On the advice of a friend I Went to see Victoria for a color and cut and she was fantastic. This will now be my regular salon!

I have super curly hair so it is very hard to find someone to cut my hair right. My mother, brave soul that she is, went to A Cut Above after purchasing a Groupon for a hair cut. FYI, she has the same curly hair as I do. Anywho, she went to Andrea who did a really good job on cutting her hair. My mother's hair hasn't looked so curly or healthy in years! I bought a similar Groupon (blowout, haircut and Morroccan oil treatment) and Andrea cut and blow-dried my hair and it came out wonderful! Super soft and healthy looking, the blowout lasted me about 5 days before I washed my hair again. Curly hair wise, it looks great and I'm happy. Me thinks I found my new stylist! Totally recommend Andrea for my Botticelli and corkscrew curled sisters. Also, I forgot her name but the woman who washed my hair did a really good job. I especially loved that she massaged my head while shampooing. The salon is a block away from the SIRR Eltingville station if you don't have a car. Also, I think the salon is under new management, which is probably why I've been seeing all those deals via Groupon lately. read more

Horrible!!!! She ruined my eyelashes and bothered me the whole time during the appointment without telling me she applies something different. She started removing my expensive set of eyelashes and rubbing my eyes like it was her heels or something. Applied some cheap ugly looking eyelashes with some crazy glue that doesnt get dissolved now so I am loosing my real eyelashes!!! It feels that I have a pound of glue on my eyes :(( Biggest mistake of my life. read more

worst place ever. I decided to try this place after my sister purchase d 2 groupons. I was having my hair cut and colored. color was simple dark brown, just to cover my greys. the haircut I wanted was short. Goinfg from long hair to short hair I was a little nervous but Victoria seemed to be confident and knowledgeable. Boy was I wrong. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and what I got was a disaster. After I tried to direct her to somehow get my hair to look like the photo she made me look like Justin Beiber. After plenty of snipping and moving my hair around I ended up with an uneven poorly layered disaster. She didn't even check to see if it was even on both sides ( it's not ). I just can't wait for it to grow a little so I can go have it fixed. read more

Just came to this place because I found a groupon deal. One of the ladies cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, blow out was great too.

I loved this salon! I had a groupon and came in for the deep conditioning treatment, haircut, and blowout. The results were better than I could have ever hoped for, my hair not only looked great and healthy but silky and so soft from the amazing conditioner (which I ended up buying too)! Will definitely be coming back again! read more

I got a Groupon and made an appointment with Andrea. As soon as I walked in, I felt very welcomed. Everyone was so friendly. I was amazed by how knowledgeable Andrea is. I've never had a stylist ask for a full hair history. She didn't just look at my hair as it was, but asked questions to find out what's been done in the past, what I was looking for and offering suggestions. Aside from suggestions, Andrea gave reasons behind them. I have never had anyone who was so in-depth and thorough. Andrea was so friendly and easy to talk to. It was great to feel so at ease with not just her, but everyone in the shop. I am so happy with how my hair came out too! Not only are the color and cut great, but my hair has never felt so silky! I will definitely be coming back and recommending A Cut Above to my friends! read more

I received a conditioning treatment, cut and style by Andrea. I was taken right away to get my hair washed and she massaged as she shampooed which was so nice. I waited a few minutes after than was seen. The cut and style were great. My hair felt and smelt so good. I will definitely go back. read more

got a great haircut from here, and good small talk. Definitely going to be my new place, most places have no idea how to do shaggy hair only buzz cuts for guys. read more

I went in with a groupon to try the place since they have new owners and I was going on vacation. I was getting hair color and cut. The place was busy at 10 am I had color put on and forgotten about, my bell went off and I am waiting. 5 min later i figured I tell someone my bell went off. I asked for dark brown and came out with jet black hair color. Haircut was okay, no complaints. The color washed off the next day especially from gray hair that I really need it covered in the front like I never had my hair done. Next few days my hair were dripping with purple hair color each time I was in the pool. My clothes and towels were purple for days. The best is when people say I thought u went to color ur hair last week!! Update 6 months later still trying to remove the black out of my hair. read more

I am from Florida and have had very bad luck finding a salon that I liked, felt like a valued customer at, and wasn't dealing with rude staff in Staten Island, but this salon has become the one for me and I love how close it is to me. I love supporting local business and I'm very happy that this Groupon had been available. I was in desperate need for a trim that I had been avoiding for almost a year so I had a hair cut and blow out - it was one of the best haircuts I have had and by far, the best and fastest blowout. It was a very cute salon with very friendly staff and a great and professional job on the cut and styling. The normal pricing also seems very reasonable and I look forward to going back for my colouring soon! read more

I bought a groupon for cut, color and blowout. My stylist was Victoria. She was extremely friendly and very professional. The end results was great color and a fresh new hairstyle. I bought a groupon and being that I am shopping around for a new stylist that seemed the best way to go without breaking the bank. I met with Victoria she was a pleasure. The salon is small but very laid back the staff are very friendly and the whole salon is involved in the conversations. I was very happy with my cut and color and I will return. Thank you. read more

Moved to eltingville, not happy at all!! Color was not what I wanted at all!! Cut off too much also. Sylist does not listen!

I'm so happy to have found this salon, with a long dedicated group of girls who really invest in doing hair well. Andrea has been cutting and dying my hair for years. She listens carefully to me when I explain to her how I'd like it to look and works with me on what looks best. Truly grateful to have found this gem in Staten Island! read more

I bought a groupon for a haircut and dye. Before I came into A CUT ABOVE my hair was three different colors. The stylist did such a great job. Everyone has noticed how good my hair looks now. The location is great. There is a good amount of parking. The staff is so friendly they explained all the services to me and even made me tea. I already made a second appointments! So happy I found my new salon. read more

i got a bad, unprofessional hair cut here.

I went there for eyelashes for the first time. I can tell you, however, that though this was my first time, I am entirely sure that this is NOT the way it is supposed to be done. My first eye was glued shut and it was extremely painful to have the eyelashes separated. They were also applied with way too much glue and they seemed to be all stuck together. I was in pain for the first couple of days, as though they were pricking my eyelid. I think this can sometimes happen when the lashes are stuck together but the really well trained professionals spot this before you leave the salon and take care of it. Now they have begun falling out in bits and pieces and they look terribly uneven and scary. One of my eyelids is in pain and some of the lashes are so adhered to it that they aren't falling out, though I wish to heaven they would. I would like to go back and have them removed but I'm a little scared to. Spend a little extra $ and go where there are trained professionals. read more
