I don't know who else is writing these reviews but I can tell you that not only did they not honor the Groupon I bought for a color, cut and blow dry properly but gave me poor results with what they did do. When making the appointment they gave you the impression that they were so busy that they could not give you the day or time you needed. I compromised and went when they had an opening. When I arrived there was just one other customer there! That in itself should have told me to get out fast. That's the problem I find with the majority of groupons that I have bought. Company's or restaurants that really suck are the ones offering Groupons. At least with a bad meal I can walk out and shake it off. A bad hair experience will take months to resolve. Saving my pennies for a real salon experience the next time. No more Groupons or A CUT ABOVE for me. read more

Just came to this place because I found a groupon deal. One of the ladies cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, blow out was great too.

I have super curly hair so it is very hard to find someone to cut my hair right. My mother, brave soul that she is, went to A Cut Above after purchasing a Groupon for a hair cut. FYI, she has the same curly hair as I do. Anywho, she went to Andrea who did a really good job on cutting her hair. My mother's hair hasn't looked so curly or healthy in years! I bought a similar Groupon (blowout, haircut and Morroccan oil treatment) and Andrea cut and blow-dried my hair and it came out wonderful! Super soft and healthy looking, the blowout lasted me about 5 days before I washed my hair again. Curly hair wise, it looks great and I'm happy. Me thinks I found my new stylist! Totally recommend Andrea for my Botticelli and corkscrew curled sisters. Also, I forgot her name but the woman who washed my hair did a really good job. I especially loved that she massaged my head while shampooing. The salon is a block away from the SIRR Eltingville station if you don't have a car. Also, I think the salon is under new management, which is probably why I've been seeing all those deals via Groupon lately. read more

Horrible!!!! She ruined my eyelashes and bothered me the whole time during the appointment without telling me she applies something different. She started removing my expensive set of eyelashes and rubbing my eyes like it was her heels or something. Applied some cheap ugly looking eyelashes with some crazy glue that doesnt get dissolved now so I am loosing my real eyelashes!!! It feels that I have a pound of glue on my eyes :(( Biggest mistake of my life. read more

worst place ever. I decided to try this place after my sister purchase d 2 groupons. I was having my hair cut and colored. color was simple dark brown, just to cover my greys. the haircut I wanted was short. Goinfg from long hair to short hair I was a little nervous but Victoria seemed to be confident and knowledgeable. Boy was I wrong. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and what I got was a disaster. After I tried to direct her to somehow get my hair to look like the photo she made me look like Justin Beiber. After plenty of snipping and moving my hair around I ended up with an uneven poorly layered disaster. She didn't even check to see if it was even on both sides ( it's not ). I just can't wait for it to grow a little so I can go have it fixed. read more

I got a Groupon and made an appointment with Andrea. As soon as I walked in, I felt very welcomed. Everyone was so friendly. I was amazed by how knowledgeable Andrea is. I've never had a stylist ask for a full hair history. She didn't just look at my hair as it was, but asked questions to find out what's been done in the past, what I was looking for and offering suggestions. Aside from suggestions, Andrea gave reasons behind them. I have never had anyone who was so in-depth and thorough. Andrea was so friendly and easy to talk to. It was great to feel so at ease with not just her, but everyone in the shop. I am so happy with how my hair came out too! Not only are the color and cut great, but my hair has never felt so silky! I received a conditioning treatment, cut and style by Andrea. I was taken right away to get my hair washed and she massaged as she shampooed which was so nice. I am from Florida and have had very bad luck finding a salon that I liked, felt like a valued customer at, and wasn't dealing with rude staff in Staten Island, but this salon has become the one for me and I love how close it is to me. I love supporting local business and I'm very happy that this Groupon had been available. I was in desperate need for a trim that I had been avoiding for almost a year so I had a hair cut and blow out - it was one of the best haircuts I have had and by far, the best and fastest blowout. I went in with a groupon to try the place since they have new owners and I was going on vacation. I was getting hair color and cut. The place was busy at 10 am I had color put on and forgotten about, my bell went off and I am waiting. 5 min later i figured I tell someone my bell went off. I asked for dark brown and came out with jet black hair color. Haircut was okay, no complaints. The color washed off the next day especially from gray hair that I really need it covered in the front like I never had my hair done. Next few days my hair were dripping with purple hair color each time I was in the pool. My clothes and towels were purple for days. The best is when people say I thought u went to color ur hair last week!! Update 6 months later still trying to remove the black out of my hair. read more

I went there for eyelashes for the first time. I can tell you, however, that though this was my first time, I am entirely sure that this is NOT the way it is supposed to be done. My first eye was glued shut and it was extremely painful to have the eyelashes separated. They were also applied with way too much glue and they seemed to be all stuck together. I was in pain for the first couple of days, as though they were pricking my eyelid. I think this can sometimes happen when the lashes are stuck together but the really well trained professionals spot this before you leave the salon and take care of it. Now they have begun falling out in bits and pieces and they look terribly uneven and scary. One of my eyelids is in pain and some of the lashes are so adhered to it that they aren't falling out, though I wish to heaven they would. I would like to go back and have them removed but I'm a little scared to. Spend a little extra $ and go where there are trained professionals. read more
