This review is primarily for Tara Butler, but I'm sure everyone else at a cut Above is also really great. I recently moved to the area, and I'm very particular about my haircuts. I always get a mid fade, and in my experience it's really hard to find somebody who gives a really good fade. I found Tara through a recommendation. I literally stopped a stranger who had a nice haircut and I said hey where do you get your haircut? And he referred me to Tara. I could not be more pleased with the results. It was an absolutely great haircut, it's like she's been cutting my hair for years. It looks great, it did not take too long, she was great about scheduling, the price is more than reasonable especially for the quality of cut that you're getting. And on top of all of that I had a lovely conversation. I would recommend a cut above generally, but definitely definitely definitely recommend Tara if you're looking for a good haircut. read more

I got my hair dyed here and I am happy as can be!!! Andrea was my stylist, and she picked up exactly what I was wanting despite my convoluted way of explaining it. I have long thick hair and went from brown with blonde highlights, to black-brown with a hint of auburn. It looks really natural, and very gorgeous if I do say so myself! She is also super good at curling hair. I went out the same day for a Valentine's date and got a compliment from a stranger as soon as I walked in the door of the restaurant. I normally wouldn't give a review on having my haircut but I will make an exception. I just recently moved to Post Falls and had the state shut down a day after we arrived. It had been 6 weeks since my hair was cut and I was in desperate need before I moved here but had decided to wait so I could find someone here. I called the day that Idaho opened the state up again and Julie answered the phone. She was so welcoming to me even though I was not a current client. I was offered a Sunday appointment which exceeded my expectations in time and that they actually opened on Sunday trying to help as many people as they could after our shutdown. Julie was kind, humorous, listened well to what I wanted, and proved to be wonderful at her profession. DON'T go here!!! Disaster. I truly wish I had a better review to leave. I was referred here by my sister to see Andrea Parker. I contacted Andrea , expressed that I was looking for someone who knew how to highlight brown hair well. That I had been having a hard time finding someone recently who could do it without leaving me orangey/reddish and could do it evenly. She asked for pictures of my hair at the time and how I wanted it. I gave her a reference picture of ME a few years earlier. She quoted me $200. This is more than I really wanted to spend, but I did have some orangey redness at my root grow out that I wanted her to even out. I figured that if I had to spend this amount to get a good result, I would do it due to my bad luck in the past. At my appt she spend a good 25/30 min talking to me and consulting with me about exactly what I wanted. She stated that in my reference pic there were less highlights. I told her I could keep same amount of highlight but that those colors were what I was going for. I expressed that I was nervous what to say because when I have said I don't want the orange hues I end up completely ash colored but I'm afraid to say warm because I don't want orange. That' why I had the reference pic for color. During the consultation she looked at my hair and assessed the situation, pointing out the reddish/orange band along my grow out. I made several comments about how much hair I have and how stylists always comment on how much there is. She said lots of her clients have really thick hair. Well fast forward to finishing the foils. While she was putting toner on my hair she called her husband and had a conversation about how her kids needed to be picked up from school and how they needed to be at practice by 4. (This was around 3 and still had to trim/layer my hair and dry and style it). Her husband said he couldn't and she said she would work it out. Well from this point on the disaster unfolded. She rushed through. Destroyed my hair cut and when I saw my hair it was literally RED AND ORANGE on top. She barely dried my hair and didn't style it. Pictured below is my hair when I went in. My reference pic. And my result. To top it all off she then tells me my total is $310! Is this real life? I said that was over $100 more than she quoted me. She said it was because of how much hair I had (which she saw/felt/touched at the beginning!) She lowered it to $260. I was in shock. I shouldn't have paid but I didn't know what to do. After coming home and seeing the back of my hair (which she didn't show me there) I was horrified. So uneven. Botchy. Pieces missing. I text her and asked for a refund. She denied everything and basically said it was my fault but that she would try and fix it. No thank you! Would you wamt her to touch your hair after this?? Worst experience ever. I am a very understanding person and I honestly usually never even stick up for myself like this but literally this is the worst experience I've had getting my hair done. I understand we all have lives and things happen and sometimes we don't schedule things well but the way she handled it was inexcusable. I want a refund!! read more

I could not get into my regular place , so decided to try a new place. BIG BIG mistake!!! My hair coloring looked like a 10 year old did it , and when I got home saw that my face, ears and scalp still had color on them (and not jus a small amount). I have gone to A cut Above for both my hair and my nails. Julayne did a wonderful job on my hair (that was in dire need of some love) and April's work on nails is amazing. In addition to being great at their professions they are lovely ladies and I enjoy my time getting to visit with them while I'm in the salon. This was almost $300 with tip. Didn't even want to swipe my card the stylist knew I was upset and still had the audacity to swipe it for me. Left unhappy and unsatisfied. Cambria (the stylist) did my hair and then I left the salon unhappy. Came back and had another stylist attempt to fix it. Left again unhappy and when I messaged cambria I was told I will be "leaving unhappy" until I come back to have it "finished in two weeks" Since they allow people to leave like this and think it's okay I will be posting pictures of their beautiful work. I would love to at least have them cover it up considering they fried my hair it would be the least they could do but so far no other forms of rectification have been made yet and so I will be leaving my review up until there is! Pictures speak a thousand words. I'm absolutely heart broken this is the first time I've had anything done to it in years. Have not even box dyed it. A Cut Above the Rest is just that. When you get a haircut at this salon you are getting a professional haircut. When i go get my haircut i wouldnt go anywhere else. I have real thick hair and not every hair professional can work with it but when Christina does my hair its always what i want to the tee! Came here to get my hair done. Everyone in the salon was nice and cool except my stylist. Got a service done with Christina S and she seriously destroyed my hair. It was so bad that i ended up going out a buying a wig because it looked better than than the devastated mess of my real hair. This was the worst stylist experience i have had in my entire life.
