This was our first time visiting historic Canton. We spotted A Cone to Pick after kick boarding for 4 miles along the river at Etowah River Park. While the current business is newer, you get the feeling it's been there longer given the history brick. There is a bar with a soda jerk feeling which was typically found in pharmacies but there is no evidence of one here previously, and I couldn't independently verify this. Cone to Pick had a laundry list of ice crème flavors which made it difficult to come to a decision. I knew I wanted a milkshake and finally chose one with butter pecan ice crème. Our hosts gave us generous samples to make up our minds. My daughter tasted the milkshake and was not a fan, but I liked it. She had a sugar cone with birthday cake ice crème, and we took it all Togo so we could peruse all the scenery along Main Street. You can hang out inside or enjoy your sweet treats inside if it rains. Either way you'll make a good choice for desert if you come to A Cone to Pick. We look forward to our next trip here. read more

And sometimes, you just need something fun. A Cone To Pick is number three. Waffle cones and bowls made in the spot. A wall full of custom flavors. Decor that sent me on a nostalgia trip. And super nice staff that was on the spot, helpful, and fun to talk with. I had the Superman regular in the waffle bowl. It's a raspberry, banana and strawberry blend, but really reminds me more of my childhood. It was a little like that seen in RATATOUILLE where the snobby food critic takes one bite and was suddenly back in his mother's kitchen. The Superman bowl was summers wading in the creek, rollerskating, and singing "Rubber Ducky" because it was the best song I knew. Yup, it's that good. My wife had a waffle bowl with banana pudding and bourbon truffle. She rates it a 9- the banana pudding was good but had a bit of that artificial banana flavor as opposed to real banana. It's just part of ice cream, unfortunately. Not bad, just life. They have CHEERWINE in glass bottles! For the unwashed heathen masses, this is a staple of college in the Carolinas. It's like cherry coke that tastes good, unlike actual cherry coke. The nostalgia trip is so cool. They have a real soda fountain and bar to sit at. The bathrooms are clean (this is important). First time coming into this shop and my wife and I fell in love with it. It's a mix of an ice cream fountain store, knickknack shop, and vintage store all in one. So much cool stuff, we needed up buying couple small things (fish fortune tellers and a cat nip toy for our cats). The ice cream is so darn good (butter pecan is a must). I'm excited to live around here now because I want to try more stuff here and bring our baby girl for lil treats. read more

This place is wonderful. The flavors of ice cream are amazing. The staff is so lovely and helpful. I went in by happenstance after seeing it out of the corner of my eye. Not only do they have wonderful flavors, they also have an amazing soda fountain. I had an ice cream float with creme soda and a juicy blue cherry. It was all delicious. I brought home some apple pie and chocolate cheesecake pints. They lasted 2 days. I am actually on my way there again right now. We have been coming to this ice cream shop for years, though today we sat at the ice cream bar with our 3 and 6 year olds only to be shocked that the girl working was too busy chatting with a young boy to even acknowledge our presence. After a few minutes, we interrupted their conversation and asked what was required to order ice cream....we were informed that "there is a screen in front where orders can be place". This had never been the case before, we loved the old fashion ice cream shop atmosphere where employees didn't seem annoyed by our presence. She then proceeded to insinuate that we were dumb for not knowing how to order, stating "the process has been this way for awhile". We promptly left. I'd like to assume the owners would hate to know this is how a once quaint and inviting ice cream shop is now being run. If anyone wanted self service, they could go to Racetrac. Such a cute place! They have some great throwback items like 96 rock and turtles T-shirts and all sorts of cute other little things. And it's set up like an old ice cream soda bar. We got a banana split and chocolate malt. They were really good. It would've only been better if they made their own ice cream. They use Hershey's. They only have bottled water, which was a bit of a disappointment. Sometimes it's nice to just have a small cup of water when you're shoving heavy ice cream down your throat rather than having to pay 1.50+ for a whole bottle. Five stars all around! A Cone to Pick has become our new favorite ice cream joint. The place is located in downtown canton which is so convenient for us. I LOVE the atmosphere and vibe this place gives off. They have a little shop at the front and then the ice cream parlor in the middle. The ice cream parlor kind of reminds me of a 1950's soda fountain and actually opening one of these types of places has always been my dream job. So one being so close to home is a big win on my end. They had tons of flavors to choose from and the ice cream taste great! I can't wait to go back and try lots of new flavors. A Cone to Pick is a rad little pad that will serve you up some delicious ice cream. The staff is fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. The business is clean, organized, and has its own style. In the current world, it's hard to find a place with staff that seems to enjoy their job. This is one place where you won't seem to have that problem. When we went, we brought our two kiddos and they were patient while they made their selections. Will definitely return. Only reason I didn't give it a fifth star is that their seating was very limited. With two younger kids, having only bar top seating can be challenging. But don't let that stop you from going - this place is well worth the stop. read more

The locals of Canton will be familiar with this nostalgic ice cream parlor that sits right in the middle of the main street of the historic downtown area. We were there today, 06/26/2022, at 3:00 pm. We got our order like always and sat down inside. When my four year old needed to go to the restroom, my husband went up to the register and asked the girl running the register if they had a restroom. She said the closest restroom is at Panera down the road. He walked with my four year old to Panera while I stayed with the other kids inside. I don't know any of their names because there were no name tags; so the girl working the register proceeded to laugh and joke with the other girls there about the fact that my husband had to walk with our son to Panera to use the restroom. It was not smart to do this while mom (me) was sitting 20 feet away because this made me angry and uncomfortable in a place we love to take the kids! I never noticed until today how not kid friendly this place is not having a restroom. But the snide remarks by the employee about my husband and son was it for me. I will say that when you look back on reviews the only bad ones are about their staff. There was one girl there working and was proactively very nice and polite that scooped the ice cream. read more

Went to try the ice cream at this store but sadly could not. With no sign posted to order at the register we sat at the bar to order with our 2 year old. After the bartender telling us that he would take our order after he completed the order for the person that sat at the bar after we did he told us to place our order at the register. Which was 10 mins after we sat down. Would have not been such an issue except now the line had gone from no one to 4 families. Glade he "didn't want to upset anyone" as he put it. When new customers are not welcome they aren't welcome, won't be going back here. read more
