I had a horrible experience here. I brought them a memory card from my Sony camera. It contains over 2000 photographs from five countries including war zones with machine guns, etc. It was very important data to me. I could not see the files on the card so I brought it to them and before I brought it to them, I read online that no data recovery company should work on the card itself, But they should image the card and work on the image of the data. That way they cannot possibly screw up the original data. There's also a place to click an SD card with a little lever on the card so that it cannot be over written. Which I did. When I brought them the card, they charge me a diagnostic fee. I told him how important the data was to me, and that they should not work directly on the card. They told me that they understood and would not do so. About a week later they called me and told me they could not recover data and gave me information on another data recovery place With a special code I guess for a kickback. Instead, I took it to another data recovery expert. And they assured me that there was nothing wrong with the card and that they could have recovered any files from it, but they could see that the previous company had over written the card and reformatted the card during the period when they had it. Basically, computer, genius wiped off the contents of my card, even though they had told me that they would not work directly on the card. This is a devastating loss for me personally And represents months of lost work in thousands of dollars of lost images. So I called the owner to tell him what happened so that he could improve his business and maybe not cause thousands of dollars of damage to other peoples data. All they need to do is not work directly on the card. I thought it was a professional courtesy to call the owner to help him improve his business, and that it would be better than leaving a bad review online. I was told by one of the techs that he was busy so I left my name and phone number for him to call me back. Much to my surprise he called me back minutes later screaming at me on the phone. I said "Why are you yelling at me"? And he replied "because you want to loan me money". I said "no I don't". I called to talk to you about a problem at your store. To which she started yelling again. He was completely unprofessional and hung up on me. he never asked what the problem was nor would he let me tell them. I had been very polite to the tech I had spoken to. And I'm a polite person in general. I just felt that when something so bad is done by a business they should know about it. I asked to speak to the owner, because the mistake that was made is a mistake of processing policy at the store. It's the owners responsibility. I don't know if I've ever experienced as dysfunctional a business or as rude a business owner.. But I estimate the loss in my data to be worth about $10,000. I did not want to post a bad review on Google, so I called him directly so I could explain to him the problem so that he could improve his process to avoid doing this in the future. But it looks like they will continue to do this. There is just no excuse for treating customers this way. read more

The Geek Squad told me this was likely a motherboard and to expect approximately a $450 charge. I took this to A Computer Genius and these guys ARE AWESOME. $149 dollars later, I received the laptop back the same day I turned it in. Works like a charm. They performed a diagnostic and soldered on a new USB-C charging port. No data loss, no hassles, no problem. Have read "some" of the reviews here but from experience here ... if you go in with realistic expectations, communicate exactly what the problems are - this is the team. They've been here for 25-plus years! You're asked to pay a small fee up-front to help cover the diagnostic, and they'll give you an honest assessment and ask how you want to move forward. I'm not sure anyone can reasonably ask for more. Great job - this was my 4th (or so) repair and you'll always get a straight answer. read more

Charged over 200$ dollars for a simple screen repair. Then when I went to pick it up they charged me again for a "diagnostic fee" which he read off a sheet of paper. And the worst part is he started arguing with me because he originally said it was gonna be 150$ and 200$ at the max. But now it's 200+ with a diagnostic fee!? I'm never going back here and never recommending this shithole to anybody ever! Quick and thorough computer repair that exceeded my expectations and cost much less than I thought it would. From my phone inquiry to drop off to pickup, I appreciated clear & honest communication. I don't speak the lingo, so I had many questions, and the tech(s) were patient and obviously competent. I felt comfortable leaving my laptop here, though I feared I'd need to replace it or make a major upgrade. Instead, for under $200, I have a previously non-functioning computer back in my hands running better than it had in 2 years. A couple of years ago, my Macbook Pro display stopped working. Another repair shop quoted me $700 to replace my screen. A friend of mine suggested I try CG. A day later, I got a call saying that I was all set. Turns out the screen was fine, it was just a loose and dirty connector. When I picked it up, not only was the screen working, but the computer and screen were cleaned!! All for under $100. read more

I thought I would need to spend $1100 on a new macbook air after spilling an entire glass of water into the keyboard. These guys fixed it by the next day, and my battery even works better now and can hold a charge, which was not working before they took everything apart and cleaned it up. I brought my laptop in to have the keyboard replaced because the shift key didn't work. They opened the computer to get the part number and gave it back to me. When I got it home everything worked fine. Figured it had just been a loose ribbon cable. I called them back to say it was working and wouldn't need the part replace. I offered to pay a restocking charge for the part they had already ordered. Two days later the issue cropped up again. I went back to the store and asked to reopen the work order and I would pay in full to replace the keyboard. They declined to do so, called me a problem customer (I had not done business with them before), and told me I was lucky that were "willing" to refund me the part cost and labor charge for the replacement which I had paid in advance. I'm still out the $65 diagnostic fee (to simply read a part number which they refused to give me) but they are out a future customer. Steer clear. read more

1st time using them and I was glad I did. I had an issue with a recent update that wiped out and rest my hard drive. They were able to restore it right back to what I had prior. Do not get your phone glass fixed here. They charge more than apple for an inferior product. The glass they gave me shattered after four days from a light bump. The glass even feels cheap when swiping. I went to them with this problem and they wouldn't do anything to help. Poor customer service. Who talks to customers like that? The grumpy old man needs to retire from behind the desk if he wants his business to last. He will pretend to be your friend until you realize the garbage products they are using. I bought a computer here last September. Used it five times then it wouldn't start. They took it back and fixed it. Then I left to volunteer on a farm in AZ. I traveled there by motorcycle and left my computer at home in a pelican dust proof, water proof case. I care back home almost a year later and the computer won't start up again so I went back to the shop. The manager told me that I'd need a new key board costing 100$ I told him I don't think that's the issue because it won't start and I felt like I should get store credit or a refund. Then the manager got angry and said "it's Friday I don't want to argue and deal with your shit this is what it is this is the real world you've had this for a year." Then I said I was going to leave a yelp review and the old man working said I had no voice and I'm a millennial who needs other people to stand up for me. First off the costumer service was horrendous!! The rude old man at the front desk greeted me with a "what do you want".. Just at that remark I wanted to turn around and walk out but this was the closest store so I stayed. The repair itself took way longer than it should have considering it was only an iPhone screen replacement When I got my phone back I was extremely disappointed. I first noticed the non-rounded edges that initially come with an iPhone 6 but I could live without it. Then I realized the screen itself was not attached and I had to manually push it into to place, and to this day the left side of the screen is not properly glued down. A week or so later I realized that the microphone was not working and my voice seemed distant, but with the terrible costume to service and bad results I will not be going back there nor anyone I have told this disappointing experience to!:( read more

I would not use Computer Genius for iPhone repair. I brought my phone to have a new screen put on and within a week, the screen started popping off. After a great battle, I got them to replace it. A few months later my wife brought her phone in for a new screen and within a week her cell phone screen was falling off. They only offered her a ten percent discount on further repairs. If someone spends $160 on a service, it should last more than a few weeks. read more

my computer was running a little slower than usual so i took a chance and brought it to Computer Genius and they told me it's running slow because it needed a new video card. they gave me an estimate and it was cheaper than buying a new computer so i had them install it. Best decision i ever made to go there. My computer is over 8 years old and it runs so freaking fast now. I bought a laptop from these guys. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, so I was initially pleased. Unfortunately, they sold me what they claimed was a "repackaged" laptop (I can't remember the exact word they used). Allegedly, it had originally gone to a big retail store, but wasn't sold, so HP took it back and repackaged it. They promised it hadn't been used. They promised it wasn't "refurbished" or "reconditioned". It wasn't until a month later, when I had left the laptop upside down on the table, that I saw the sticker that said "refurbished". They lied to me and it has always run pretty poorly. Despite being so friendly and helpful, they lied and ripped me off. Now I question whether my old laptop was really unfixable as they claimed.
