Martin was honest and knowledgeable when it came to helping with my fireplace in my new home. I called because I originally thought my fireplace was creating excess smoke because it needed to be cleaned turned out that the cap on the chimney was needing replacement. He could have charged me and done the cleaning in addition but instead he said it didn't need it and ordered the part and replaced the cap. Absolutely the nicest people you could ever hire for chimney cleaning and inspection. He went over everything with me since I had never used a fireplace before. They also leave a list of services with upfront pricing which is very handy for any future needs. I can't speak of them highly enough and would recommend them to anybody. I had several concerns about the floor pad of my fireplace, it seemed to be crumbling after 35 yrs of use & I was concerned that it could cause a fire. Martin inspected & told me that it was just surface cracks & not anywhere close to the firebox so I had nothing to worry about. He did a great job cleaning the fireplace & took special care to cover up the surrounding areas. He also did a great job cleaning the dryer vent. RUDE Dennis Verkest shows up for an appointment 20 minutes early (at 8:40am when the appointment is for 9am) without ANY prior notice of his early arrival. He tells at me over the phone that he's been banging on the door for at least 10 minutes and that he's leaving! Please note that he called me, threatening to leave, at 8:49... 11 minutes BEFORE the appointment! I call the person at the house that is to let him in and find out he was just getting out if the shower. I call Dennis back and tell him so and that he would walk to the door and let him in in 1 or 2 minutes. He said, "Oh come on! I've already been outside waiting and no answer." I then asked what time the appointment was for and he affirmed it was for 9am. Then he went on to say in a stern and raised voice, "Give me a break! This is a service appointment! Everyone knows early happens! I'm leaving." I reminded him that the appointment at 9am, 10 minutes away and not unreasonable for someone to be getting ready for his/her day prior to his scheduled arrival. I asked him to please wait a minute or two. He agreed. He was let in, calm w the person in the home, and finished the work in about 20 minutes. SMALL BUSINESSES GROW, THRIVE, AND SURVIVE THROUGH REFERRALS. I AM ALL ABOUT SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESS. As a Realtor that is regularly contacted by customers for referrals to service providers, I will not be referring my customers to A Chimney Sweep and More because my customers deserve the best service as well as treatment. I don't think that they will get both from this company. Very sad and disappointed in Dennis's communication style. My customers are generally undergoing one of the most stressful things you can do... moving in or moving out of a home... and don't need UNPROFESSIONAL treatment from a company providing them a paid service. How does this guy not yet have a review? Just had him out to clean our chimney and inspect the fireplace for leaks. This is our first fireplace so we had NO idea what we were doing or what to look for. He showed up in a top hat and suspenders, inspected our fireplace, climbed on the roof to inspect the chimney for leaks and when he came down, charged me for HALF of what he quoted because our "chimney wasn't dirty." Rude. As a four time Yelp Elite member, I am telling it as it is. You canceled on our chimney project. You claim I did not pay you for two visits- one was to take measurements, and another visit unsolicited. You scheduled a cleaning when we wanted a repair. Then demanded this cleaning be done when you could have explained the cleaning be done before the repair like a normal human being. Twice you have come to my house on days we did not agree on. Then asked if my house was in Wesley Chapel when it is totally not. Told me I was putting words in your mouth, would not apologize for your unsolicited rude behavior because of being in the military. I have family in the military and they behave much better than you. You said this would be done "well before November 17th" and now you say not at all. Lastly, you left a rude voicemail first thing this morning and I will gladly share that with anyone who asks. Was it that hard to send us an estimate? I had to ask several times. Yet you demand payment. We are decent people, we would have paid you, but not now. You don't deserve my business or anyone else's. Go back to the military, they need to re-train you. read more

First off I had this company do a complete firebox replacement 2 years ago. Over $600 and they did a great job plus cleaned my chimney. So I called 2 weeks ago and left a message to please call me back for a cleaning. 3 days later Dennis called and said I'm getting 40 calls a day and sorry I couldn't call back sooner. Scheduled a time for a Wednesday at 9 so I took off the morning. About 920 I got a message from Dennis saying "he is out of here since he can't find my house". I called back 5 minutes later and he said he was done looking for my house and moving north to dade city. He said he was driving around my neighborhood for 20 minutes. I told him I'm sorry but you were he were 2 years ago and I've never had an issue on people finding my residence. He was very rude and said well I have a new GPS. I said I'm here and can you come now. He said no I'm out if here. Now this is the strange part. He called me back 15 minutes later and said I'm still looking for your residence I said ok your like 2 blocks over. He then hung up on me. Then the guy showed up . Walked up and asked me do you want me to do the job and I asked him do you still want the job, he said yes. I was in a jam so I went ahead and let him do the work. I totally saw him pissed off and angry while he did his work. If my wife was home and I was not I would be worry. He did the work on the fire box but never went up to the top of the chimney. I went to pay him and he said no this is on the house. I said no I pay for work and he said no this is the last time he would be at my residence. I looked him in the eye and said funny that's exactly what I just told my wife I'd never have you back in my house again. DONT EVER USE HIM DENNIS VERY ANGRY MAN. read more
