This is a racially diverse environment, with the teachers being predominantly Spanish-speaking, but the children come from all walks of life. They maintain all State standards for child care facilities (which is why I chose it for my students). It's more "home grown" than, say Kinder Care, or other farmed out child care centers. But the turnover for teachers is exceedingly LOW- which says a LOT for the center. The Director/manager/the woman who does it all, Omy Acevedo should be given an award. In FOUR years, the woman has not taken a single day off other than a 1 week vacation. She's there from open to close 630-6 every day and she always has a ready ear to listen, advice to give, and a general openness you will not find in most schools, much less a daycare. My son, who is 4 now, started doing homework when he entered the 3 year old class. The things he learns are astounding. And again, I defer to the diverse environment- having kids of all ethnic groups and socioeconomic groups has been a powerful learning tool from him (and his parents, natch). There are some things to get used to: the teachers are primarily speak Spanish... This caused a bit of a tussle when they were teaching the kids about "tight ropes" and called them "type" ropes... also, they called "bunk" beds, "bump" beds. But if you're willing to look beyond some of these things, you'll find the education your child is receiving to be rewarding in so many ways. The love my son has received from everyone at this school is not something I feel he would have gotten in such abundance any where else.
