Brian was very helpful and accommodating. The customer service was excellent and I'm so glad I found this place to replace my dead battery.

Got a diagnostic and they said multiple things were busted. Went to a mechanic elsewhere and realized that ACE automotive blatantly lied to me after a $230 diagnostic fee and only 1 of the things were broken. Do not trust these people... what they said would be $2100 all together, I got it fixed elsewhere for $500 and better parts than what they offered me. read more

Ace Automotive is best mechanic shop around. We have taken our cars there for years. Highly recommend.

I took my car to A.C.E. because I thought I needed brakes but I didn't need them. Brian found other problems that needed to be addressed in order to pass the inspection for a salvaged car. He corrected them all and my car passed with flying colors. read more

Trustworthy shop. I have been to these guys several times, and I always leave with my vehicles problems fixed. They are reasonably priced and knowledgeable at what they do. read more

I was referred to this shop by two friends over the years. I have used ACE automotive over the last 10+ years over the phone for Brians advice on cars. I found owner, Brian to be forthright and caring about the advice he gave me. I used that prior experience to call upon him and his expertise in repairing my Solara. He told me what was needed, prioritized it for my budget and even had a loaner car for me so I could keep my medical appointments. I found his shop's service exemplary and my car is running like a top again. I am ery happy with it. You will not be disappointed if you want to have any of the services his shop provides. Forget the dealership charges and get the necessary services and not the added fluff that dealers add to your auto services. read more

We have taken both of our cars here for years. Brian is super reliable and trustworthy. Never recommends more than you need and always does an excellent and thorough job. Very quick turnaround. Super friendly. Gave us a courtesy car that was super clean and in excellent working condition. The most fair, honest shop I've ever been to! read more

Brian is great. Honest and reliable. He never tries to sell you more than you need. My car is always in and out quick. Highly recommend. read more

Positives: professional communication, pleasant waiting room, reasonably priced diagnostic. Negatives: Double the cost of most neighboring mechanics for a simple brake job. They quoted me $780 for what they said was the lowest price option for brakes and rotors on a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. I ended up finding a shop right around the corner that was able to put on new brakes and rotors for $360. read more

My daughter needed her Toyota Hybrid Highlander timing belt and hybrid cooling system worked on. Not only was there a Toyota trained mechanic in the shop, the owner, Brian, kept us updated throughout the day as to where they were in the process. He was 1/2 the price of my usual mechanic located in El Cerrito and much much easier to contact. This is our 2nd experience with ACE Automotive now and I can tell you with absolute confidence that we won't go anywhere else now. He even went so far as to advise my daughter on her tires and what to do to make sure she is safe on the road. That won me over beyond measure, to go the extra mile and make sure my darling daughter is safe. This guy is the best!!! I almost didn't yelp because I didn't want to share him with you all, but he is so terrific he deserves more business. Plus then we will all be safer drivers. See you at ACE. read more

I found ACE through Yelp and I am glad I did. Brian was very communicative, let me know what was happening and gave me updates with estimates. Very trustworthy and thorough. He went above and beyond even took my car to another shop for a smog so I didn't have too. He did an oil change as well. I will recommend to all my friends seeking auto repair!! read more

Couldn't ask for an easier and more through inspection. Honest and next day service! Wow thank you Brian for your help. I was having a car inspected 500 miles away from where I live, needed to know if it was ok. Not only did I get a written inspection report, I got emails with "noise" from wheels and engine with the likely cause. I feel the inspection was more thorough then any other shop I've ever been to when purchasing a car and I really appreciate the service when it is protecting an investment. Hope this helps other people when you consider using this shop. Either for diagnostic or repair I feel they go above and beyond. read more

The most important feature I look for when having my vehicle serviced is honesty and I get that from Brian at ACE Automotive. I bring my vehicles to ACE because I can trust the service I receive. read more

Traveling with a trailer and needed an oil change, and to have the breaks checked. Checked YELP as we all do, and this place was given great reviews. Paul was great, fair and took time to go over the issues. I was so impressed I had them do some extra work (differential lock switch in dashboard), I was planning to address when I got home. I recommend ACE if you're in the area, an honest mechanic is a good find. read more

A little late to writing this but I've been meaning to write this for a visit in May. I had to take in my '05 PT Cruiser that was throwing the good ole check engine light at me out of the blue. I called and spoke to Brian who was very helpful and recommended running a thorough diagnostic on the car to see what was going on. Fortunately he had a cancellation that morning and said to come on down! Turns out one of my spark plugs was shot which was causing the classic jerky, put-put like symptoms my car was putting out. Not only did he fix her up nicely but he even noted my back left rear light was out and changed it free of charge! His prices were very fair, he was attentive and caring to my concerns, and got me back on the road safely by the time lunch was over. And Peaches the shop dog is the goodest girl! Great spot and service, thank you guys! read more

Stop your search for a repair shop, you found it! ACE Automotive blew me away with there customer service, and authentic approach to solutions. They are really here it help, thanks Brian for getting my Camry back on the road in record time. Made my week! read more

I have been going to this place since Brian has taken this business over. He and his employees are so loyal. I truly trust him with my car. Has never lead me wrong about what needed to be done. I highly recommend him. read more

I have been going to Ace Automotive for over 13 years. The main thing that I appreciate is Brian's honesty and I never feel like he is going to suggest something that I don't really need. Most of my family take their cars to him as well. You can't go wrong with Brian and his crew! read more

I have been going to Brian for over 15 years. He is honest and reliable, does not try and sell items you don't need. His team has many years of experience. He is responsibly priced, and he will work with your needs in terms of what needs to be done now and what can wait. If you call He responds quickly to get you scheduled in. He also has a loner car to help you out. read more

Great job! I called Ace, as my car would not start and left a message if I could have it towed. Brian called right back and told me to bring it on down. He was very nice on the phone and said he would call when the car arrived. He called right when my car came in and asked to run a diagnostic. I agreed, it would be a necessary/good idea. He told me how much it would cost as well:). I received another call letting me know that the battery was shot. Brian had a battery for my car model, gave me the price, installed it and called back to let me know it was ready an hour or so later! The price was very reasonable, Brian was very friendly, nice, professional!! I couldn't pick up the car until the next day so he graciously offered to keep my car in his shop overnight. I didn't even have to ask and was secretly worried about it being out, as there have been several cat thefts in recent weeks. Thanks Brian and Team! My car runs great and I received service with a Smile!! read more

My son's "new" Cadillac was having a power steering issue. Brian was able to take it in the next day to have a look. Since the car was 20 years old and my son had just purchased it from a private party, Brian suggested he do a 'safety check' to try to get ahead of any other potential issue. By noon Brian called with a list of items that needed repair, some were critical. He was able to repair the power steering, the alternator harness, a bad wheel bearing, and flush and pressure test the cooling system, and still have the car ready for us at 5 pm. The total cost was about $100 less than the original estimate and was a very fair price for all the work they did. I highly recommend Ace Automotive. read more

Wow! Brian really made me feel quite comfortable right from the start. My Explorer wouldn't start! Parked at El Polo Loco for an early lunch and realized something was wrong, lights and dash all came on but nothing more after turning the key, then waited after calling for a tow. Brian explained what to expect calling me later to tell me what they discovered then quoted me a price. Said part will be there in the morning and he'll call me after they test drive it making sure everything was good. Next morning much sooner than I expected, it was ready. No additional fees. I will be back again just for anything else that needs service. Brian did share that they do just about everything or everything... sorry for being vague. read more

Brian and his workers are amazing, the end. Because I am an AVID Yelper, I came straight to our lovely community to find a place to fix my broken air conditioning. A.C.E. Automotive came up with solid reviews, so I went ahead and scheduled an estimate, and ultimately a fix. Brian was excellent throughout the whole process. He communicated honestly and paid attention to detail. It made an costly but necessary fix so much easier. I would return to ACE and recommend them to a friend any day. read more

I took my car there due to check engine light was on and it stalls on me intermittently. I was charged a whopping $165.00 to run the code machine and was told that it read 4 different codes , that basically I purchased a bad car and to take care of it. What a rip off. $165.00 for nothing!!!! Check engine light is still on. !!!! read more

I went here as it was recommended by a few of my coworkers. Brian seems like an honest guy, but the business practices don't seem too honest. Especially when I found out how much the parts actually cost. Can't say much more than that. First of all, I have not been to an auto shop that charges to diagnose the car, he wanted $110 just to READ THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. That is ridiculous. I had two simple problems, power steering leak and radiator fans. I knew these were the problems and he still charged an hours labor to find them out. He then quoted me about $1500 to fix everything. Right away I knew that was astronomical. He stated that the cost for the fans was $600 by itself. I was shocked at this and after looking it up online I could buy the part myself for between $100 - $200. I do not think auto shops should be trying to profit off selling parts, they are providing a service. It is unjust to mark up parts by hundreds of percent. I told him not to do any work. I took my car to a mechanic my family and I have gone to for many years and was quoted only $650 to FIX EVERYTHING. How could there be this big of a discrepancy? They only charged me 2hrs of labor TOTAL. (Oh and also they only charge $80 per hour for labor, not $110) I went to ACE with high hopes that I had found a decent mechanic in Sonoma County, but they were very disappointing. I basically threw away the $110, it was really stupid of me to agree to that. I should have gone with my gut feeling. I will never go back here. It seems highly immoral to be charging these types of prices, especially when he specifically told me $600 for just the part. If you are ON ANY TYPE OF A BUDGET, beware, do not go here. read more

As someone new to California, I was referred to A.C.E. from another automotive shop that didn't handle my type of car. I have since gone twice, and while the customer service I have received is very friendly, the price quotes I have received from this place are way too expensive. For example, when I went to get an estimate for the brakes on my car, they were going to charge me nearly $1,000 to fix them. After taking my car to get a second opinion at another shop in Santa Rosa, I received an estimate less than half of that amount for similar work. In fact, nearly all the estimates I have received for my car were between $1,000 and $2,000. I do not feel that they are dishonest here, and they seemed to do a very thorough inspection of my car and a good oil change, but I do feel their prices are a little outrageous. I will pay more for good service, but not that much more. I do not think I will be going back here, as my new mechanic offers the same quality service, but at prices with my budget and needs in mind. read more

As someone who knows his way around a a car... and especially well around my car I was very happy to have taken my car to Brian. I did not have the equipment nor the time to do the work myself. He has excellent service and is very thorough at what he does. The two low ratings he has gotten here are from people who are looking for low pricing. Any mechanic will be able and does shop for parts, some choose higher quality ones (as Brian does ) and others choose to use budget or knock-off parts that will lower any estimate. As far as his hourly rate, his is on-par with any CERTIFIED mechanic, improvement and education on his behalf and his staff is an important part of what he offers. (Certificates clearly visible in office). In short trust that Brian is looking out for you and your vehicle, if the price seems high ask him to explain why and perhaps there are other options available. read more

I am a college student driving a '99 Chrysler. Earlier this fall my battery died and my headlights started turning on and off by themselves at random points--even when no one was in the car and it was completely off. Took it to a dealer in Santa Rosa and they were NO help--"We can't duplicate the problem so we can't fix it"--and charged us $150 basically to tell us that the car is old. Thanks for nothing. Took it to ACE and just after talking on the phone with Brian he already thought he knew what was wrong. Very nice to me, explained how things work (because I know nothing about cars) without being condescending and there was no vibe that he was trying to take advantage of a young college student who knows nothing about cars. Tried replacing the headlight switch and it didn't work. Ordered a new Body Control Module with the promise that if that didn't fix the problem he wouldn't charge us for it (since it is quite a pricey repair). He got the part, installed it and monitored it for a full day to make sure the problem was resolved. Then I told him that I would be leaving the car for 3 weeks over winter break as I travel to SoCal and don't trust the car to make it all that way. He said if it dies to jump it, bring it back, and he will charge it on his battery charger overnight at no cost to me. Brian is a GREAT guy. Clearly is not trying to make the most money...he just wants to fix your car. Much better than the sketchy dealer. read more

Brian comes off like a nice, honest guy, but after doing some legwork, I was able to verify that his prices are astronomically high, even for the simplest of work.  He thought he could swindle me because I'm not the manliest, macho dude, and assumed I knew nothing about cars. And when I told him I simply needed more time to consider all options before proceeding with the repairs, he belittled me and basically told me my car was a piece of junk and not worth fixing for any price. Really? Only seconds prior, you were ready to charge me an arm and a leg to put every penny I had into this car!  Beware. This guy is not as "nice" as he tries to appear. Working in HR, I have witnessed plenty examples of poor customer service in my lifetime, but a business belittling its customer and ridiculing their property (after trying to swindle them with a hefty estimate) was one of the most offensive, bizarre, and disturbing, experiences I will ever encounter ...and will remember for a very long time.  If you don't mind spending exorbitant amounts of money on things you don't need and being verbally insulted, come here!  But if you just need some simple work for a reasonable price without being shamed, look elsewhere! read more

We have been going to A.C.E. for 5 or 6 cars now. We have never been disappointed. We have a pick up so old that at the mechanic spent time to go to Windsor to get a part. That is service!! Yesterday it was a newer truck with what we thought was going to be very expensive. Turns out it wasn't. They know there stuff and are reasonale. We tend to keep our vehicles for a long time and ACE is there to help us. You guys deserve 10 stars. Thanks - Denise read more

This is not a good place to go if you don't know much about cars, you will be taken advantage of.
