This guy Stevan King (IMO) operates like a real shyster. My Mom (age 89) called in a crisis to have a new key made for her car. Mom has only 1 key, and was worried that she might lose it. He shows up and tells her that the 1 key she has does not work. Mom stated she had cranked and driven the car this AM, and the key she currently has works! Then he proceeds to make a new key for the car, and tells my Mom the charge is $225 for the new car key, and to 'go get the check, and then I will hand over the key." Such an untrusting, and seriously RUDE guy! To boot, Mom had trouble with the new key, as it didn't seem to work properly, after this guy milked her for $225....Nevermind....! read more

Extremely expensive. Poor attitude. $385 to unlock one interior office door, then replace the lock, which we did not ask him to do. My employee unknowingly called him in an emergency. I had a previous run in with this "Christian" where he lied, didn't show up when he promised. He potentially left my home open for two days until he did show up then yelled at my 13 year old son because we already called Mid-State Lock to secure us. Mid-State Lock is reasonably priced and does an excellent job. read more

I lost our RV key after taking our daughter to get her infusion in Augusta. Stevan with Aborn came to our Camp Site in High Falls from his home near Bolingbroke just a few miles from us. His wife spoke to my wife for a while and found out he knew my brother and another friend of mine. He made 3 keys for us which allowed us to open the compartments but my wife and I were floored when he charged us $590. This took all of our money from the bank account. My mother who is dealing with cancer overheard how stunned I was about the price and she gave us $200 to help us with groceries until I get paid again. Stevan wanted us to go get cash out of the bank to "save" us a 5 % service charge from the credit card companies. He says that because his wife and my wife hit it off that he gave us a "discount ". I fear what the price would have been if we did not have mutual friends. When I took him the money at his bank, he handed me a Christian book and said it was God's Sovereign will that we met because we have mutual friends. It was almost as if he had a $590 bill to pay and he exacted it from us. He did get the job done but I feel violated and robbed. You be the judge. read more

Stevan came promptly to our home, but I was shocked when I got the verbal invoice - $175 to open my locked door. I used him because my neighbor recommended him, but I will use someone locally if I ever lock myself out again! read more

Traveling for work and my key fob died in my car so I had to get my car unlocked. Charge me $285 to make a door key. Then he was nice enough to hand me a Christian religious pamphlet. Highly do not recommend if you value your checkbook. Complete rip off. read more

Grossly unprofessional, sorely entitled locksmith. Pricing was everywhere! Went from $85-125 to finally agreeing on $65 & throwing in an extra key!! Attitude was terrible after that! Had the audacity to mention "gratitude" in a sense that I should be thankful that I chose his services; as if he were performing it free of charge!!! I believe he's a "pay for what you get service!" Pay the outrageous price...he'll treat you like a paying customer! Pay the minimum,....he'll treat you're trying to pay him with food stamps! Never got the key. Seriously acted like a spoiled kid. I will start with positives, such as this individual will assist you and get you in to your space, and was very polite throughout the encounter. Now for the negatives any inconveniences he runs into will absolutely be passed along to the customer. As well as any promises or agreements you make with him need to be put in explicit text and even then I would endeavor to say that if you don't receive everything that is agreed upon before he leaves the encounter then you will likely not get it according to my experience. My girlfriend locked herself out of her car we called several lots nest trying to find one that would service our area. We found him and although he seemed expensive we just wanted in the vehicle so we spoke to him and was promised the service despite our location as well as a key to prevent this from happening again. We accepted the service retrieve the money as requested because he did not do card and awaited for his arrival. When he arrived he did not have the van or equipment to cut the key as promised. He claimed it was in the shop and there was a problem that prevented him from honoring his promise and even at this point he would head just promise with is not included in the service but we just like to give it to you " a free key". However we pay for the service and the promise of the key so it was not free we paid for it. He promised he would cut the key from a picture and meet us somewhere after it was cut. He did not give me a time frame and that was my fault. It took almost a month to receive even the announcement that he would attempt to give us our key however the message indicates that we had to drive to him to get it which was not what was agreed upon. My problem is I attempted to contact him in between this time and was ignored the first time, and the second time he answered me but again made it seem like the promise he made wasn't something he should honor as a business owner but something he was being a nice guy about by even attempting to honor. Driving to him would cost much more than just getting a key made, so you may ask why don't you just make it yourself? I will, however I was promised that I wouldn't have to as a result of spending money on the service, so I believe I shouldn't have to if the service was performed to expectations. Long story short if you make a verbal agreement clearly within a certain criteria (specifics were mentioned) you should honor that as a business owner or you should not make it. If you have to use this guy cuz he is the only one who will service your area then he will be polite and get you in your vehicle however anything after he leaves I would not rely on. At least in my experience he will make a promise that he cannot deliver on and he will not make the appropriate efforts to remedy that. As such personally I would not recommend him and will not be using them again. Perhaps this was a bump in the road but personally when a provider promises me something and then doesn't deliver then I no longer trust any aspect of their services. I do hope you have a better encounter with them. If he changes his mind and honors his words I will update this review, but as he ghosted me at least once I wanted to go ahead and relay my experience with this provider. read more

Our small family-owned business was broken into on Christmas Day. The robbers drilled out the locks to get in. The next day, we called A Born Locksmith to replace the locks. Unfortunately, we did not get a quote before he started. When he handed my mom the bill, she about fainted. It was $525.00! I don't know about other places, but here in small town USA that is a rip off. Not only would I NOT recommend this guy, I will tell you not to use his services, if you would like to keep any money in the bank. I am giving one star for two reasons.....1. Because that is the lowest I can go and 2. Because the locks work. read more
