Wow! Where do I begin? First of all, I was a little skeptical because this company has only a handful reviews. The website is very straightforward and when I texted the number, they responded really fast. It was so fast and easy to book a princess. I love that! No email or confirmation number, you just tell them the date, time, and address and confirm through text. We booked Rapunzel (Angela) and let me tell you, she went above and beyond! She made my daughter's birthday party so fun! She was so amazing that even some of the guests I had want to book her for their own kid's birthday party. She did face painting, they colored, danced, sang, and even did balloons towards the end! Highly recommend this company and 5 stars for Angela! She's an amazing person. Everyone loved her! Nancy Gonzales helped me out recently at the Ice Cream Social I planned... I was looking for a clown, balloon artist, and/or face painter to come entertain the kids, and Nancy provided all of the above! I explained that it was a non-profit, and she gave me a discount... fantastic! Did I mention that I called her to inquire about her services on a Friday and the event was that Sunday? I contact them the same day of the party due to some-other event business canceling on me after a deposit was given. Nancy was so helpful and kind to be able to switch people around to make it happen. They are so reliable and show up at the time asked. No deposit is required until the event is over you pay the full price. We had Becca For a Baby Shark Theme!! She's so friendly talented at face painting & making balloons for the kids so impressive. The best party ever! We had Elsa at my daughters 7th birthday party yesterday! She was absolutely amazing. From the minute she arrived, all the girls were enchanted. She face painted, made balloon septers, made snow!, played games, and the girls' favorite, sang songs! All of the other moms wanted to know where I found Elsa, I started to say Google and Elsa said, "Arrendale, of course!" I would highly recommend this company. I contacted Nancy TWO days before my party because the company i booked with was a total scam . She was able to get us scheduled for my daughter party last minute and we are FOREVER grateful for that !!! We got 2 characters and they were absolutely amazing . "Anna and Elsa" were absolutely amazing they sang and face painted but most importantly when my daughters party was rained out they relocated with the rest of us and helped keep the kiddos distracted while we reset everything up. I recently used "A BETTER PARTY" for my daughter's birthday party. She had come highly recommended from a friend so I was very excited to use her. We had discussed price and what I was expecting from her during the party. I wanted her to do a little bit of face painting and to have fun games to do with the kids for the majority of the time. I recall telling her "I want games lots of games" I had hired her from 5:30pm-7:30pm that's 2 hrs. of fun for my little guest. NANCY the owner who happens to be the clown showed up 15 minutes late and didn't even greet nor introduce herself to the kids. There was no enthusiasm. She also was not in full clown costume like in her company picture and like I had asked (she just had a clown dress on). Upon arriving she just asked for a table and sat down towards the back and started doing face painting. Her assistant didn't even show up until almost the end of her scheduled time. Towards the end of her scheduled time, I realized that she hadn't even left the table to do any of the games with kids. When I asked her why she didn't do any games, she had the most shocking response. "You never told me to start the games, so I just kept painting faces. And the kids playing on the play set are having way more fun anyway." I didn't realize that it was my responsibility to babysit a "Professional" and to host a party and mingle with friends and family. If I only wanted a face painter, I would have hired a face painter. I would have also not announced her on my invitations, informing my guest to bring their children for lots of fun and some clowning around with a clown. I thought a professional would have done exactly what we had discussed prior. I guess I hired the clown and not the professional that I thought I was dealing with. NANCY being the owner of the company and a "professional" should have had a better attitude about things as well; by the end of the night all she kept giving me were excuses as to why she didn't do her job, most of them blaming me for not babysitting her during the job. This was a big deal for my daughter's birthday and the only thing that she did that we agreed to prior to, was the face painting. Again she was late, zero games, and not fully dressed in costume; zero enthusiasm for a clown is very unacceptable. I'm extremely disappointed!! And to top it off she never even offered to discount the fee due to lack of services whatsoever. I cannot believe that I paid $150 dollars for someone to sit on her bosom for two hrs. I was still asked to pay the full amount even though she did not do the full job that was agreed. I would love my money back from NANCY THE OWNER or at least half she knows it's only fair. I would be leery of hiring A BETTER PARTY(NANCY) unless you have nothing else to do at the party but time manage the party at the expense of friends, family, and mainly your kids. If you are anything like me and love party planning, and go all out for a themed birthday party, then I would not recommend hiring a character from A Better Party to come "entertain" your guests. I recently hired Buzz Lightyear for my son's 2nd birthday party. I spoke with both the gentleman who was showing up as Buzz & the owner the morning of confirming all plans, as well as had multiple conversations via text with the owner months prior. The plan was for him to make balloon animals, face paint, & dance and play games with the kids. I confirmed with both Buzz and the owner the morning of that he would arrive with a Bluetooth speaker and have a playlist ready. Buzz even asked if I had space for a parachute in our yard for him to use to play games, which I said yes. Buzz showed up with a costume that didn't fit. It was ripped at the seams, only zipped up halfway and his wing was hanging down off his shoulder. He had to ask multiple adults to please keep attaching his Buzz wing, but it just continued to fall off. Buzz claims the owner dropped off his costume that morning, and it "didn't fit." Buzz made balloon swords and handed out tattoos. I then proceeded to ask him to please move on to playing games and dance. He said he left his phone in the car. He had to leave the party to go get his phone, then he couldn't get his "playlist" to work on his Bluetooth speaker. Luckily I have Sonos speakers outside so I came to his rescue and put on the Toy Story soundtrack. The music was not engaging at all. Buzz stood there and asked me if there was a "certain game he could play that would get the kids engaged." At this point I was very upset with what had occurred up to that point. I put on a song that the birthday boy loves and all the kids joined in dancing with me as Buzz just stood on the side watching. Buzz was a huge disappointment! He did not know how to engage with the children, which was the exact reason I hired him for entertainment to begin with. And what happened with the parachute!? Safe to say I won't be using a character from this company for a future birthday party! read more

I contacted the owner and have still not received a return call or explanation as to why Elmo failed to show even after a confirmation e-mail. This review is for my daughter's party back in Oct, but like I always say, better late than never! I can't actually base my review on the entertainer, because she NEVER SHOWED UP!!! I'm basing my review on the customer service and how the whole situation was handled. And how no one called to tell me, it wasn't until she was late and I called, that we found out. Here's my story: I booked "Elsa" for my daughter's birthday a full month in advance. I never dealt with the owner, only the person who said she was the manager, Angel. I live in Surprise, and I was told at time of booking all there Elsa entertainers lived in the East Valley, and because of their drive, etc I had to book one for a minimum 2.5 hours. Ok, fine, they'd sing, face paint, play games with Elsa, the girls would love that. Day of party, Elsa was supposed to come 1-3:30pm. By 1:15 no Elsa and no phone call. I called Angel who has no idea, she hasn't heard anything. She's going to call around & call me back. She calls back a few mins later. Our Elsa had an emergency, she had to take her son to the E.R. cause he was having breathing issues. Apparently the owner knew all about the situation and had been working on finding us a new Elsa. The 2nd Elsa was at a birthday party near us and could be at my house around 2:15. Since the party is still ending at 3:30, no matter what time Elsa gets there, I said that's only half the time, if I could pay half the price? Nope, if I wanted Elsa I'd have to pay full price, cause the drive, etc (I thought 2nd Elsa was already near us?). Than Angel calls back says they can drop $50 off price, but they have to pay the entertainer, and owners already losing money. What else am I supposed to do, I have nine little girls waiting for Elsa, so fine. At about 1:50 I get a call, 2nd Elsa can't make it! They have other princesses in the area, what's our 2nd & 3rd choice princesses. Now I have to make an excuse to the girls about why Elsa can't come and ask my little girl who her next choice of princess is. Well it's a Frozen party, so Anna, ok, oh sorry, nope she isn't available either. Ok, how about Sleeping Beauty and if not her just send anyone who can come! Again, nine little girls expecting a princess to sing with and paint their faces! This is approx 2:20pm, when I get off the phone the understanding is Angel will be sending another Princess to the party, who will be there around 2:45-3pm, and even though it'll only be 45 mins or so with the girls, I'm only getting a $50 discount. But a princess is coming! No princess comes! I hear nothing back. Myself, and the few other moms who stayed to help with party, all gave up hope around 3pm. Finally around 4pm I get a TEXT MESSAGE, not a phone call, from Angel saying sorry we couldn't get a princess out to you today. I texted back to the effect of Sorry in a text message doesn't take away the disappointment my daughter & her friends experienced. And I also told her the other moms & I all agreed to never use their company again. I never heard from them again. And here's another issue I had with their whole story. 1st Elsa took son to E.R. with breathing issues. I understand that, I have a 4 year old asthmatic child who goes to E.R. on average 3 times a year. But it's not an instant thing, like they're fine one min, next minute not breathing. It's progressive, slowly gets worse, you do breathing treatments on nebulizer to help, and when that doesn't, E.R. time. But at some point you realize you might be going to E.R., you start to make preparations (like calling work). This Elsa, living in East Valley & commuting to Surprise had at least an hour drive to my party. So she had to of taken, or at least decided to take, her son to E.R. before 12pm. And this being HER JOB, she would have called into work when she realized she wasn't going to be able to make it. I'm thinking, since she was supposed to arrive full dress, make-up, hair, she probably decided to take son to E.R. before getting ready for work. So she knew by 11:30, maybe 11am, how long does it take for Elsa hair/make-up? Anyway, Angel said the owner knew all about the situation and was working on finding a replacement. She had to of know at least by 12pm, as Elsa was supposed to show up at 1pm. Why did no one call me? Why did I have to call at 1:15pm when no one showed up? Only to find out owner was aware and working on replacement. A nice phone call earlier to say hey, here's what happened, we're working on it would have helped in the costumer service area so much. And I would have had some time to explore alternative arrangements. read more

Horrible doesn't begin to describe my experience with this company. I first contaced Nancy THREE months before my daughters first birthday. I described exactly what kind of princess I wanted. I was looking for a olive skinned Jasmine Princess. She directed me to her website where she has pictures of her companies princesses. I immediately chose Betty. I called Nancy back to reserve Betty for my daughters birthday party. I never heard back from her until four days before my daughters birthday party. I was told that Jasmine's schedule "fell out of her book" and she wasn't sure if I still needed the princess at my party. Once I heard this message I should have KNOWN what kind of company and person I was dealing with, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt, returned her call, and told her that YES I was still needing the princess Jasmine for my party. Nancy then went on to tell me how Betty was no longer available but she could send a replacement princess. I asked if this princess looked like Betty with the olive skin and long dark hair. I was told no but that this other girl was a model and she was beautiful but she was very light colored with blonde hair but could wear a wig. I was very disapointed. I could have gone to MANY of the other companies in Phoenix to get a light complected Jasmine to wear a wig to my daughters birthday but I went with A Better Party because they had the princess I wanted. But alas this was FOUR DAYS before the party and I had promised all of our guests a real life Jasmine so I relectently agreed to accept this other princess. She showed up at my house 10 minutes late with a HUGE flannel coat on. It was 75 degrees outside. Her wig was falling off and she was missing teeth. This didn't look like ANY princess I had ever seen in my life. She removed her jacket to show a costume that looked NOTHING like the Jasmine costume, her costume was light blue and she was wearing sandals. Again, this should have tipped me off, but I still allowed her to come inside my home to entertain our guests. She spent 45 minutes blowing up 6 balloons. I asked her 5 times if she was going to play games with the kids and she kept blowing me off. She was rude to my husband and never even took pictures with the birthday girl. I finally called Nancy and told her what was going on. She said she was too busy to deal with it because she was in the middle of another party. I ended up having to send this "princess" home myself. I will NEVER EVER EVER deal with this company again and if you want a NICE party with respectable people I would advise you stay away from this company! read more
