I love supporting a local business and a woman owned business. She has different vendor events throughout the year supporting other local business people who come and set up inside of her shop. This gives you a really unique way to get one of a kind clothing and jewelry, but not everyone else will have. Plenty of home decor, and the owner also makes unique floral designs and wreaths as well. Brookville is an entire experience. Quaint little downtown where you can walk and get a coffee, go to a restaurant and then just enjoy the charm of window shopping in a clean safe little town that feels like you just rewound 20 or 30 years. Make sure on your trip to drive over to the Brookville Dam area and take a walk on the causeway. This is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday.

Once you find it, there is street parking on Home Ave and a small lot on the property, both options free. You enter the shop on the northeast end of the building. There is a showroom of items that give you an instant feel of nicely arranged decor and furniture with the checkout counter in the back of this room. The rest of the business is arranged in an oval pattern of rooms that let you easily flow through the shop and finish back at the checkout. Along the way, I found a couple brands of candles gathered into displays, and lots of furniture; some painted, some still with original finish. I even found a hallway filled with dog treats! But mainly, there are lots of antique items that are in different condition dispersed among home decor accessories and furniture. If anything, the orderliness and open spacing feel almost empty compared to the majority of antique shops I have visited that are packed to overflowing. It made for a nice change of pace when antiquing. Because of the nice displays, it can be inspirational to shoppers for possible ways to display the items in their own homes. First off, you will find a vast and constantly changing selection of antique and vintage home furnishings and decor- cabinets, hutches, shelves, accent tables, kitchen ware, a dizzying array of baskets in all shapes and sizes - which the the kind owners gather as they hunt estate sales, flea markets and the like. Most of these pieces are American made, all are handcrafted and one-of-a-kind. Some will have been lovingly restored by proprietor Damien - who also crafts new pieces and can do so to your specifications! We recently bought a house in the area and are slowly making it our very own. I'm in need of a short shelf/hook rack, which might easily be obtained as a cheap piece of crap from Walmart mass-produced in communist China - or I'll pay a few dollars more and have one handmade right here in Ohio. Take a guess which I've decided on. In addition to wood crafts, proprietress Shannon makes personalized T shirts, coffee mugs and koozies with a great selection of designs to choose from. Still don't see something that grabs you? No worries, bring your own design and she'll make it happen. They say you can't always get what you want but that doesn't seem to apply here! Something here for everyone and great gift ideas too. Any unscheduled closing (doesn't happen often) is posted on their facebook page, so if you're making a special trip might want to check that first- or call. My other tip is, if you see something that grabs you- grab it now! I highly recommend you get over to the Workshop.
