This review is specific to THE DISCOVERY LOUNGE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM which is the…read morebefore/afterschool program directed by Cynthia Smith and is housed at QCSS but not affiliated with the school. I wish that QCSS would get rid of this program and find a better one. This is a warning to all parents, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THETHE DISCOVERY LOUNGE BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. https://www.thediscoveryloungease.com/ The Director, Cynthia, charged me today (9/23/22) for the TDL  program, after stating that 9/16/22 would be the last time I would be charged, being that I removed my child from the program on 9/2/22 and he has not attended since. I removed my Kindergartener from the program after only about 2 and a half weeks because she contacted me several times for MINOR instances that should have been managed by the "highly trained" staff at the program. Cynthia contacted me with an attitude and a loud tone of voice and even made a personal attack on me verbally. I am a single, working mom and this has caused extreme stress, anxiety and frustration for me. I have to be the mother and the father for my child and I do discipline him and work with him as much as I can at home. I do my best to teach him proper behavior but he is a 5 year old at the end of the day. I truly feel that he was being ostracized and labeled in this program. It's like she was trying to get him out of the program instead of working with him. Some people do not need to work with kids. Cynthia's lack of professionalism has brought me nothing but distress that I am STILL dealing with it since I got charged AGAIN. I cannot afford to be charged for a program that I am not involved in. She has shown ZERO accountability for overcharging me. No empathy at all. I would recommend that people STAY AWAY from this program unless you want to deal with a constant struggle, being contacted at work every day for the smallest things, being personally judged and attacked. Hopefully no other parents have to deal with what I have been through.

Let me start by saying my child is not enrolled here…read more The purpose of this review is to put info out there for other new/expecting families. We have been on the waitlist for the infant room for almost a year now. We actually got on the waitlist when I was 2 months pregnant. At he time they said they expected to have openings in a year. That seemed reasonable for a good school. So, we paid the $75 (I think) application fee and got on the waitlist. Throughout the spring and summer I inquired about our status every few months and just kept being told that they didn't know, they didn't know, maybe. Well after my son was born in July and I asked specifically about October the answer became a clear, no. Then I get emails to "waitlist families" saying that we have to let them know if we want to keep our status on the waitlist and if so we will be moved up to the next classes waitlist. While I get that this is an in-demand school I feel that they could have been much more honest and open about the likelihood of getting a spot before taking your money. So, I'm sure the school is lovely, but if you're shopping for daycares for your infant...here's what we have been through. Hope it helps.

Our daughter started at Kiddie Academy February of 2024. Our overall experience at this location…read morehas been good. The facility is nice, open and they also have camera access. They have additional programs kids can participate in like soccer and yoga (an extra fee) which is great for exposing kids to different sports and leisure activities. The teacher turn-over is high. In my daughters class she has had three different teachers since August and several different teacher assistants. This created some drop off issues but she adjusted overtime. She is no longer attending because there have been several cases of hand, foot and mouth disease. The school notified parents but as a precaution we weren't comfortable sending her back. The lack of cleanliness and staff consistency in my opinion is why there were probably a few cases (I am not a doctor but I have spoken to friends and family in childcare). Would I recommend the school for its facility structure and programing yes. Would I recommend them if you want teacher consistency and a empathetic regional director, no

We're a few weeks into care with this facility and so far it's not been a great experience. The…read morecustomer service is trash; they seem completely unaware that we are paying customers and act as though they're doing us a favor. They've asked for grace through the opening process. The cameras in the classrooms not working appropriately, the safety mechanism on the door not working properly, the opening of the business being pushed back. With that being said, grace is not returned. We tried to drop our 2 month old off today 19 minutes past the "cut off time"- which is 9:30am and she was turned away. First of all, having a cut off time at a daycare that's open from 6-6 is ridiculous, my schedule is flexible and sometimes i don't start until later in the day and prefer for her to be with me instead of at daycare. With that said- we realize that is the rule and should have read their terms closer and paid attention- unfortunately we did not- but when you're open for a few weeks and constantly asking for understanding, you'd think you'd be able to reciprocate. Also, she's 2 months old and our first child. What if there's traffic? What if she throws up on us on the way out the door and we have to change her? We cant drop off our child without a DOCTORS NOTE after 9:30 in the morning? Is that a joke? We have to take a day off work because we were 20 minutes "late" to a place we pay to care for our child from 6-6? The director is a cold, unaccommodating, unhelpful piece of the the business. While trying to use their entrance software, which does not work properly, she sits through the door watching us struggle instead of offering help. Once we finally get into the building and explain the issue we're having, she looks at us like we're speaking a foreign language, despite two seconds later being told by another employee that the system had been doing exactly what we were describing all day. She's standing there when we walk in 19 minutes past their cutoff time and instead of offering any understanding about how hard it is to be new parents during this adjustment period, she just turns and walks away without a word. We've picked up our daughter multiple times with crusty vomit in her hair, having eaten 8oz in an 8 hour period, with poop up her back and past her belly button. Watching on the cameras as she's placed in her crib for a vast majority of the day- that is when the cameras are even working. For a company that's just starting out, trying to establish their place in the community with something as important as our children, you'd think it would be all KIND hands on deck- ESPECIALLY in the beginning. Instead we get attitude. In my opinion, they act as though there's no other place in town that takes children and that we're lucky to be there and not as though we are the consumers who are paying their salaries and keeping the lights on. If the behavior continues, good luck filling your rooms.

Donnie and Ernie are consummate professionals whose extensive real-world experience lends credibility to their training. They also have enough insight to recognize that students arrive with widely varying skill levels and prior exposure. Their blocks of instruction are thoughtfully sequenced and clearly articulated, allowing trainees to absorb complex material at a manageable pace while progressively building confidence. Although some of the curriculum set forth by PPSB is a bit cumbersome, they organized the content to fit within the three-day format. The standard is the standard and no shortcuts or "gimmies" are given, but even novice shooters can achieve it by paying attention and applying the principles. Of note, the discussion of physiological responses under acute stress definitely helped on practice day. Unlike similar courses I've attended in years past where instructors project an air of bravado, Donnie and Ernie struck an ideal balance: personable, engaging, and approachable while maintaining an unwavering seriousness about safety. This fosters a relaxed but focused learning environment that greatly benefits folks with lesser experience. This PPSB-compliant armed security training prioritizes genuine safety, skill development, and student success over ego. PTA is top-shelf! God bless the both of you gents. Ed
