Guess what? 2nd day, $110 later, same sound. Took it back, was told it was something to do with the clutch in the alternator. Offered me a "break" to replace the alternator at $400!!! I said no thanks, replaced the alternator myself. Guess what? 2 bad diagnoses! Same sound. Turns out it's the belt tensioner and idler pulley. You would think a professional mechanic could have figured this out on the first try. I've been working on cars myself for over 30 years. Don't they have a stethoscope? Heck, I used a long screwdriver and a coffee can and figured it out pretty quick. Not cool! Not happy! Not going back!

They ended up scratching both front windows that I just had tinted in four different spots. They damaged one of the tires and rim when they mounted my winter tires. Making that tire junk. The tires are 2021 pretty much new. When they performed the alignment after the tire install, they did it with the tires over inflated and each tire different. The steering wheel wasn't centered after the alignment. And to top it off they "washed" my vehicle that I just had paint corrected and ceramic coating. It looked like they used a dirty rag to wipe the vehicle down. Which put a bunch of micro scratches in the coating. After going through all that, the doors still froze and had the same problem. I ended up fixing it my self and haven't had any issues since. When I pulled the door panel off I noticed they didn't do the recall how it was supposed to be done. They were extremely rude when I told them the issues I found. Apparently it's common to occasionally damage a wheel or tire. Because "they don't have a touch less tire machine". Highly recommend you find a different dealer to get your service work done.

So after an unfortunate meeting with a large piece of metal on a rural road, I rolled my poor Nissan Sentra over to the only auto repair place in Freeport that I knew about (thanks to its distinction as the "best repair shop in town," according to a local newspaper survey). Even though I hobbled in just minutes before closing time, they took their time to check out the damage and then gave me a quick assessment of the situation (which ended up with a gathering of employees staring at the underside of my car in amazement that something could have done so much destruction without resulting in a complete breakdown (or an explosion (seriously))). Ultimately, my auto was toast, and it couldn't be put back on the road without significant work. Dave, the owner, stuck around to help me figure out a rental car, and then actually offered to drop me off on his way home! I don't want to make it sound like this should be expected as standard practice, but this level of customer service -- even in a rare exceptional situation -- is pretty much unheard of. All in all, the work that they did was perfect, they went the extra mile personally and professionally, and I'm still happily chugging along 60,000-or-so miles later. I'm going to need some more work done again soon, and it's too bad that I wasn't able to take the Auto Repair Specialists with me when I moved back to the Chicago burbs.
