It wasn't a beautiful antique car I was dropping off at It's Alive...it was a childhood memory. I…read morewanted to bring back to life the simple relics of the 1980s McDonalds playland before the disappear forever in scrap yards. The little carousel that used to be setup at select McDonalds, with the push button placed so far away, you had to run to catch the carousel mid-ride. The original place I wanted to use to restore this did not have room for about 6 months. I had no where to store it so I contacted It's Alive since their facility is enormous. Jeff was able to accept it right away. The carousel took about 5 months to complete. It's Alive took it all apart, checked the motor, media blasted the fiberglass, made small repairs, primed and painted the majority of it. My partner is a professional painter so I had him paint the characters to save some money on labor. I sourced the missing burger topper and missing "M"s, which It's Alive put back. The whole project took some coordination and cost a fortune but it was everything I wanted. I'm really proud of jumping on this whimsical journey and saving something that was special to childrens of the 80s and 90s, before tablets and cell phones. Now I'm hoping they help me sell it at auction in a few years :-)

They are likely not the "cheapest" but I have found over many years of life and buying things that you do truly get what you pay for. I imagine we have some good years ahead.

Jumped my battery and advised me to get a new one since winter hadn't even started yet. I got to work and dropped it off at our automotive department for a new battery. They were busy but I didn't get off work for 4 hours so I wasn't in any rush. When I went to pick up my car, they couldn't get it started after installing the new battery. I was in a fix for sure. I called Alvie's for a tow to a repair shop and shortly after my call Matt showed up. He took my keys to see if he could get it started. He couldn't BUT he figured out the problem - my after-market antitheft device had re-engaged itself. I had the fob at home so Matt took me home (just down the street), I grabbed my fob, went back to the car and he was able to get me going again. I was so relieved I could have cried! I knew I was looking at a tow bill and repair shop bill and knew it was going to be expensive. After giving him a huge hug, I asked him how much I owed him and he said nothing.
