A&W Restaurant - Double bacon cheese burger Cheese Curds root beer - Fast Food Near Me - Winona, Minnesota

Everytime I go something is wrong. I asked for no mayo and they loaded the mf. and how you gonna make me wait 5 mins for bacon and not even put any on the burger. slow dowwwnnnn read more

I typically like A&W chains but my experience at this one was horrible while traveling on business. I went thru the drive thru and the car in front of me sat for 5 mins waiting to order. Once they moved forward my order was taken pretty quickly but that is basically all that went well. My order was taken wrong multiple times - at least she confirmed with me so I could correct her. Then when I got up to the window they collected payment and had me wait at least 5 mins before I got my food. I guess that was because they wanted to burn my cheeseburger to the point it was crispy and charred on the ends. The bottom bun looked half too small and was torn up so I had to eat it upside down. When I unwrapped the burger it looked like it had exploded as there was cheese and toppings all throughout and over the wrapper. The drinks came right away but that wasn't good as my root beer freeze was completely melted by the time I got back to my hotel half a mile away. And my large root beer had not one single piece of ice in it. The person taking my order seemed rude and annoyed the whole time so I guess she took her attitude and anger at having to work out on my food. I won't be back. read more

I love to stop in for one of their ice cream cones on occasion but I need it to be super small or I get sick from the sugar. The first few times I had some really nice people that didn't mind making it small. (It's not hard to do and it saves them the expense that adds up each time). But then the last two times I went through the drive thru,, the service was the worst ever. The one girl says. "well, we can't be doing that" She told me I had to take what they gave me. Then the girl working the window, didn't say a word and just slammed the window shut. I tried to let it go but they were just so RUDE. I did call the next day and asked for the manager and I didn't think it was a manager because it sounded like the same girl. That was a good week or so ago and I decided to try again tonight and had ANOTHER Rude employee that kept trying to hurry me when I was trying to tell her what I wanted. Where do you dig up these horrible people. I won't go there anymore. Worse experience EVER! read more

This place was awesome!!!!! It was my first visit ever. Conveniently located. They have better cheese curds than Culver's!!!! The curds are from Wisconsin and I thoroughly enjoyed every fried bite!!! I also had the chicken strips which were devine! The A&W fries are amazing. We also ordered root beer floats! OMG! Sooooo good. I am so happy that I insisted on stopping. When in Winona I needed to try some old school experiences! This visit was great! read more

Love my A&W rootbeer! 1st meal here (burgers) was alright. 2nd meal here (cod sliders)...get two sliders...one was cod and one was chicken - with tarter sauce. What?! Still great to eat at a classic. :) read more

First time visiting an A&W so I'm not sure if they're all the same but I ordered the cod basket and my husband ordered the cheeseburger meal. The cod wasn't bad at all but the coleslaw was overpowered with mayo and pretty disgusting. The burger was really small my husband had so if you have a good appetite, definitely order one with more patties than one. Cheese curds were okay read more

My papa burger was good, esp. the sauce! The bun could have been toasted a bit longer, but still a very decent fast-food burger. Service was quick & friendly too. Will go back, for sure. Cheers to 100 years :) read more

Service is excellent at lunch time. Not crowded and brand new building. Hot dog is regular and I love the root beer float. You can ask what their promotion running at time of order too, sometime they have promotion but not posted. read more

This restaurant has terrible service. We waited for 20+ minutes in the drive thru line with 1 car in front of us. I am very disappointed that the line was this slow and the root beer floats were mediocre. Workers were not friendly whatsoever. Never coming back. read more

Probably some of the worst food in town. I have never had a good meal there the four times I have gone. I frankly can't believe this place hasn't closed yet. read more

Great food but very pricey compared to the competition. the staff should also be great..... not! Will think twice about going again.

Food always tastes good. I wish there were more places to sit inside though. The service is always hit or miss. Sometimes they crack a smile and tell you to have a good day. Other times they just hand you your food and wait for you to drive off. read more

excellent burgers. got the 2 1/3 pounders for $6. not overcooked and very good flavor. cheese curds are excellent also. must be patient due to the long drive up line. read more

We went there at 5:00 on Saturday. I ordered a double cheeseburger and water. When the tray came it wasn't on there. The girl said she didn't hear me. I stood right in front of her. My husband ordered a papa burger. When it came the bun felt like it came out of the refrigerator. I told the girl. She took it back, rewrapped it. It was still cold and the hamburger was room temperature. We don't think we need to go back there. We'll go to Arby's. read more

Whenever I order condiments to dip my fries in, they repeat it to me correctly but I never get the sauce! Their fries are not good enought to be eaten without a sauce so this really tends to bother me, especially given that their food is more expensive. The other food is good but for the price I may as well go somewhere else. The service is slow as well... A&W has gone out of businesses in Winona years ago and I think it is time that they go out again. Plus, Lakeview Drive in tastes better anyway :P read more

I was excited to see an operating A&W still in service. Most have closed over the years. Remember the Papa Burger, Mama Burger and Baby Burger? They still have Papa Burgers here. Yum. The fries weren't as good -- had some sort of "off" taste to them but the Papa Burger was outstanding. Be that as it may, the whole point of going there was the ROOT BEER!!! Just like the good old days that I remember and much better than the canned junk they sell at the grocery under the A&W name. And, if you want, you can sit in your car and let the car hop visit you. Nostalgia........I love it!!! read more
