BEWARE this company! I had a disappointing and costly experience due to their unprofessional service. I had them remove 3 trees and grind the stumps from my house in Boulder. Their estimate came in higher than some other folks, however, I was eager to get the work done because one tree had branches that were damaging our roof and some other companies I was talking to were booking several weeks out. We had two slabs of granite being stored behind our house, close to where the tree was being removed. To my horror, I came home and glanced out the window just in time to see their tree machinery shatter one of the slabs of granite into 3 pieces! They then haphazardly shoved the other slab of granite off to the side, only for it to crack as well. All of this damage done in under 5 minutes. I ran outside to speak with the owner, and he informed me that the granite was in the way and that if it was important to me than I should have moved it before they got there. Ummmmmm... wait WHAT? How about MENTIONING when you come for the estimate and survey the site that I should have that moved? How am I supposed to know what is in the way of their machinery, I've never seen a tree stump grinder machine before in my life! If my car were parked in the driveway too close to the tree, would they have just cut right through my car? How about a courtesy heads up to me? I mean really, a little common sense is all I'm asking for. In the end, the owner offered me discount for the broken granite. I took it, despite the fact that I'd rather have had the whole slabs of granite that matches our brand new kitchen! Now, on to the second let down! I should mention that I paid a lot of extra $$$ for the stump grinding (above and beyond what I paid the tree removal) with the understanding that all stumps would be ground to 6" below ground, so that we would have a level surface where the tree once was. My landscaper came by to clean up the huge pile of wood chips left from the stump grinding, only to inform me that beneath the huge pile of wood chips, the stump was still standing about 12" above ground. I called A&R to ask if they could come out and remedy the situation, and they said they could but it would cost another $150, or $200. Seriously? They want to charge me AGAIN to correct the job they didn't get right the first time? They informed me that what I was looking at was "roots" and that roots aren't considered "stump" and are therefore not included in stump grinding. Roots, stump, hobbit hole -- I don't care -- whatever it is, it's a huge mass of solid wood left from the tree poking up about a foot in the middle of our yard!!! Seems like you should also mention this fine line distinction in the estimate process!! They said they would give me a discount (how nice!) to come take care of it. Discount - how about just doing the job right the first time I paid you!? I've hired another company to get it right this time. Save your money and hire someone else!!! read more

Wow - these guys really know what they're doing, and they did a great job. I wouldn't use anyone else!! I received three different other quotes, ranging from $400 to $1000 more than A&R. One of them advised topping our trees, which I later learned is a terrible practice. I feel like I not only got the best price, but also the best work out there. read more

They called us back right away and came out and gave us an estimate of the work we wanted done, they arrived on time (actually ahead of time) and did a very nice job of trimming our trees and bushes, cleaned up all branches and debris, our trees and yard looks great, we would highly recommend them. read more

Save your trees from being injured. My experience with A&R was of poor service and workmanship. They came out to prune three trees and remove the fire blight from my crab apples. The branch cuts were not clean. There are some branches with saw marks. They left oil on the drive way. When they returned to clear some of the water shoots, cut the branch that was overhanging the roof, and remove all the fire blight, they came with less than a few hours notice, ignored the phone call to not work on the property as I needed quiet for my business call. The branch that was overhanging the roof was not cut. Further, they left more oil stains and did not do a thorough job of removing the fire blight and the water shoots. I now have three trees that have injuries and cuts on them and a stained driveway. I contacted Sherry to give her the opportunity to make things right. She said that they came back and argued that Bob was an arborist for 20 years and does a fine job. Bob was not on the job the first time. And, when he was on the job the second time, he was not reachable and I could not talk to him, and he did not do a thorough job and was not at all bothered by the poor quality of the cuts and the nicks to my trees. read more
