Brian at A&B Imports is the real deal. I took this older Toyota with that notorious engine rattle (VVTi issue) to two other shops for inspection before him -- both claimed they checked it out and gave it the all-clear. Brian found what they missed: lack of oil pressure, broken cam gears, failing tensioner. The engine was on the verge of total failure. He took on the full job properly: timing chains, cam gears, oil system, cooling system, the works. Essentially a full engine save, plus transmission service and complete tune-up. He kept me updated throughout, delivered quicker than promised, and the car's been running flawlessly since. Brian's also a pleasure to chat with, full of stories from his tropical adventures. Honest, skilled, and genuinely enjoyable to do business with. Heads up: they don't use plastic seat covers, so toss a towel over the seat if you like it clean. Highly recommend A & B for anyone in the Coos Bay area needing import service. read more

Always helpful, always kind. Goes out of his way to find me an affordable alternative. Absolutely adore these guys.

Our 2006 Subaru was having issues with a leaking timing plate. We brought it here through recommendation from other mechanics in the area. The price was fair for the service provided and the time spent making the repairs. The mechanics at the shop were friendly and helpful in not only identifying the problem but letting us know of other problems we may want to keep our eyes on. Additionally the mechanics worked all day on our vehicle and even stayed late to make sure everything was completed before we had to leave to go back home after our trip in the area. They really went above and beyond for us. read more

This is my first ever Yelp review but I had to leave one for the awesome team here at A & B. I brought in my new (to me) 1995 Subaru Legacy that had a bunch of mystery issues and that I just generally wanted looked over. I had a serious oil leak coming from a camshaft seal, as well as from some old dried out o-rings. The problem was quickly diagnosed, and I opted to have Brian follow his recommendations and service this area of the engine while he was in there. I really appreciate a mechanic like this, who takes the time to explain an expensive job instead of just giving me the price tag. Brian saved all the parts he took out and showed me each of them, explaining why he felt they should be replaced. Afterwards, he took me to the car and answered some miscellaneous questions I had and made some recommendations on cheaper service options to extend the life of my transmission. The person running the front desk (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name!) was equally helpful and polite. I felt respected and listened to, which is super valuable as a young woman in this environment. I can't tell you how many times I've taken one of my beaters in just to have a group of middle aged men hand me a bill with no explanation and no conversation about future service, underlying issues, etc. On top of all this, my car was finished within a couple of days. It's a small shop, so I wasn't surprised that it was difficult to get a hold of them over the weekend, but as soon as they were back in the parts for my job were ordered and then the next day my car was finished. I've never been so satisfied by a visit to the mechanic, and will be bringing my car here in the future. Thank you! read more

Went in to have oxygen sensor and hood rod connector replaced. Bryan said he would order those then text or call me to make appointment. He never contacted me, and hasn't up to now, 11days later. Went to another shop. Being unreliable is not nice if you want customers. read more

The guys at this shop are pros, I've had two cars that I've taken to them and they always give me the best advice and know what they're talking about. The owner is a very nice guy, he even offered to go with me to a dealership to give me advice on buying my new car and to look at it to make sure it is sound. Very generous, and I won't take my business anywhere else in this town! Simple as that. read more

I went here off a recommendation and will NEVER go back!! I went to pay for my car, was quoted $1000 and the price went from that to $1330 all of a sudden??? I ask him to go ahead and install a part he said is $30 and I'll pick up my car when I get back from my trip. I get back and he says my bill is now $1428 and I flip and he says he didn't charge me for labor for that either... so WTF is the other $100 for??? He SERIOUSLY OVERCHARGED ME!!!! NO ONE I know will ever support this jackass!! My sister and boyfriend went to him too and he WAY overcharged them too and my boyfriend even brought his own parts!!!!! Plus they're never open when they say they're gonna be and they close for the day without warning messing up everyone's day! I went to pick up my car on payday (a Friday) and what do you know... they're closed for the day/weekend......again!! Don't waste your time with this duchebag! Morrins automotive on 101 however is honest and charged me LESS than he quoted me!!!!!! Morrins automotive I do highly recommend!!!!! read more

If you have a European car, go elsewhere. My suggestion is Metric Motorworks. My vehicle had headlights and a battery replaced in August of 2014. Both bulbs powering my halo lights have already died and the car battery is dead. $186 for a car battery and they didn't even register the battery to the car's computer, so it was draining twice the amount of amps out of a battery that didn't have the juice. This is unacceptable and unforgivable. Save your time and money and pick a different business. read more

Brian was extremely thorough and professional. He was honest in his findings and reasonable in his quote for repairs. I had heard great things about this business, so decided to call them when my car broke down. I'm so glad I did. It's nice to know that you can trust a business these days, and, that you can expect great service as well. Thanks A & B, and thank you Brian! read more

I brought my VW in because there was a leak in the roof. Brian and his team worked on it until the problem was fixed. A lot of time and patience involved. Thank you so much! read more
