MY STORY: This past week I had a well know, in the Upstate SC area, HVAC company offer free inspection. I knew they would "knit-pick" everything but my HVAC had not been inspected in 3yrs so I agreed. Report came that my gas furnace heat exchangers were leaking air and by code they must disable my unit. They quoted me ALOT for a new furnace. I can't spend that kind of money without multiple quotes. Second company I get is small but very good reviews. I told them another company found my furnace faulty and they came out and gave me an estimate of almost exactly half the first company. (yes very similar equipment, half the cost). The third set of eyes was a friend who is a retired HVAC tech. I had called him to ask a question about a technical issue on the quotes and he offered to come look. He tests the system, with me watching, and can't find any issues. The last set of eyes was A.A. Courier & Sons. I told them the same thing I told 2nd company. Before I could mention that my "friend" could not find an issue, the rep said "Well lets go test the furnace to see if there really is a problem". Of course you probably guessed by now, this technician could not find a problem either. He did not give me a formal quote but did give me a budget price of slightly less than 2nd company if I wanted to replace it due to it being 30+ years old. So, 1st company total scam. 2nd company, good but should have verified issue for themselves. 3rd "Friend", GREAT friend to volunteer to take a look for me. 4th company (A.A. Courier & Sons Heating/Cooling/Generator), deserves the awards they have recently received for doing their due diligence, good pricing, honesty. I have no ties, family or friend, and this is my first time having any dealings with A.A. Courier & Sons but would highly recommend if you are in the Spartanburg, SC / Upstate area, give A.A. I had the misfortune or fortune depending on how you look at it to have my ac go out on my birthday last week. I had 4 different companies (including A A Courier & Sons) come out and look at my ac. The only one that told that I did not need to replace my ac was A A Courier & Sons. I scheduled an appt to have them come out on 8/25 to do maintenance on ac and do some additional things that I needed done. Money well spent!! The air quality in my house is better. They truly went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. I would absolutely recommend them for all your HVAC needs. It is refreshing when you find a company that does quality work and does not try to take advantage of your lack of knowledge as a consumer. You can do research online but unless you have a clear understanding of how things are supposed to work...well the research can only go so far. Some take-aways: 1. Get multiple businesses to come out. Take notes and ask questions. Learn from each person that comes so that you know what to ask the next person. 2. Get your hvac serviced on a regular basis as it will save you money in the long run. 3. Be patient and wait until all the appointments that you set up come to your house before you make a decision. We were looking for a new HVAC company. My husband made a lot of phone calls, some of which never returned his call, he interviewed over the phone the ones who did and had two different companies come to the house. Aaron, the owner of A.A. Courier was the second one to come to the house and after that we looked no further. Aaron was likeable, honest, straightforward, and knowledgeable. And best of all, he did not try to upsell Bill on parts or service. I highly recommend AA Courier & Sons and frankly will not consider using anyone else. Several years ago I couldn't run my air conditioner at all. If I turned it on, the electricity to the rest of the house was immediately knocked out. I had two other HVAC companies and one electrician come to the house to try to resolve the problem with no success. I contacted Mr. Courier, who came himself. He quickly identified and fixed the problem. He charged less than the other two companies & the electrician who failed to solve the problem. After having bad experiences trying to DIY, my husband finally called a couple professionals in the area and AA Courier arrived when they said they would, explained the issues to hubby and the pricing was reasonable. The competition was a day late, more expensive for less, and just not as personable. Could we have done it cheaper ourselves by buying some parts and YouTubing it? I've had their Courier Care Plan for a few years and it's great! They call me to schedule maintenance, easy peasy, I don't have to worry about it.
