Had an unfortunate break down on the highway at night, and I had A-1 help out. The overall experience was excellent, as our tow truck driver Roger was timely, knowledgeable, kind, and respectful. I can't say enough about him. He got my car to their repair shop and dropped us off at a nearby hotel. If you need roadside assistance, I wouldn't hesitate calling. Separately, I'd also recommend their auto shop. Their attention and work was great. Their facilities for those that need to wait is excellent. There's an outside covered deck with rocking chairs, a very nicely decorated inside area with a TV and A/C, and clean updated bathroom. Glad A-1 was selected by my insurance company. read more

Sadly, my car broke down shortly after crossing over the border from Georgia into South Carolina. But never fear, Casey from A-1 Towing came to my rescue. He picked me and my vehicle up with a Wonder Woman decorated tow truck and after a quick stop for gasoline, we were on our way with a 91 mile tow to Charleston! That was a long ride made happier by the wonderful and deep conversation I had with Casey, hearing his story, sharing some of my own. And whereas, I didn't agree with him about every idea he shared, I was thoroughly engaged in our conversation from start to end which helped to pass the time. Two thumbs up for great customer service. - Steve read more

I had a breakdown on 95 in freezing weather. They arrived withing 30 min., got me to a clean safe hotel, and took my car to their repair facility. I was traveling from Fl to PA and no idea of my surroundings. It was very convenient that they had a repair shop. Luckily it was just the battery and not an alternator but I was fixed and back on the road by 11am the next day. They picked even picked us up at the motel and took us to my car. Due to the severe storm, we waited until Rob Tow Truck Driver from A1 Towing to arrive. He was quick to get our vehicle on the flatbed. It was down pouring and lightening. He put us in his cab, drove us over to the car dealership to drop off the car so they could fix it 1st thing in the morning. Then he made sure we were able to get a hotel room close by for the night. It turned out we had to go to 4 different hotels until we were able to find a room at Extended Stay America Hotel. The General Manager Kelly was helpful in getting a room for us. Both Rob & Kelly are very personable, kind & caring and definitely they go above & beyond. We so appreciate all you did for us! Thank you so much Rob & Kelly! Diana & Allan Braun read more

We had a blow out on I-95 and were able to exit and pulled into a gas station. We have BMW roadside assistance and they called A-1. Aaron the tow driver came within 45 minutes. He was extremely helpful and took us and our car to a dealership not too far from where we were. Dropped the car off and brought us to a hotel nearby as well. Aaron gets A++++ for his friendliness, being helpful and cared that we had somewhere to go until our car can get fixed which won't be until the next day (hopefully) as today is Sunday and they are closed. read more

We were traveling from central FL to Maryland and broke down on a Saturday around 3pm at the 31 mile marker going north bound. We had NO clue where we were and had our child in the car. Many places closed at 5pm and all of the local Firestones were full for Sunday. After calling 10+ places we spoke to Craig with A-1 Towing. He quickly called their mechanics to see if anyone would come in on a Sunday to fix our car. I got a call back within 30 mins and we were good to go. The tow truck driver (we forget his name but he is a Marine) came within an hour and dropped us off at our hotel. The car was ready and brought to us at the hotel the next day (Sunday) at 1pm. Throughout the entire process Craig kept us updated about the car so we could get accommodations with our hotel. Would highly recommend to anyone who is in a bind. Pricing was very fair considering it took two guys, a tow and working on a Sunday. read more

My father in law had a wreck and this company was called to tow the vehicle. Since the vehicle was drivable we tried to decline towing. This company rudely refused informing us the keys were in his pocket and he wasn't giving us our keys. Towed to yard where the rudeness continued. Went to pick up truck and pay $250 and yelled at and threatened when trying to pay and pick up our property! Worst service and rudest employees ever! Use ANYBODY else unless you like to be shouted at and ripped off!! read more

We were moving a boat from Charleston SC to SW Florida when we ran into trouble with the trailer. We called late afternoon on a Saturday and Shane routed us to Darlene that had Robbie meet us at the gas station we were stranded. These guys have a great can-do attitude and not only did Robbie get us safely back to their shop but Darlene arranged for a few fellas to meet us at the shop where the crew made quick work of getting our trailer repaired and us back on the road that night! We made it safely and smoothly back in Florida early Sunday morning! We were in a lurch and these guys helped us out tremendously! Highly recommend!! Lawton and Joe did excellent work for me when I was in a pinch in my RV with a bad transmission, 2700 miles from home. They had a new Jasper transmission on the way in two days time. Then they went above and beyond and diagnosed a bad emergency brake assembly, then went out of their way to make sure they found that rare rebuilt part. I couldn't be happier with this shop and the way they took care of me. They are a diamond in the rough. My family got all the way back to California without a single worry. read more

Excellent service! We had a tire shred on busy I-95 in South Carolina. We were put in touch with A-1. Kraig, the dispatcher got back to us, pinned down our location and had a truck on the way very quickly. He contacted us several times to let us know they were on their way. The tow driver arrived quickly, and in minutes had our car on board. The driver, Juwan, was courteous and calm, something you need after the stress of a flat tire on I-95. Arriving back at their shop, they had a tire ready to put on and we were back on our trip in no time. Excellent service. What we feared would be a multi-day event turned into a quick and easy solution. read more

They opened up their other shop kens tire services for me to get me a new tire since my donut wasn't going to hold for 2 hrs of highway driving! & they didn't even over charge me, most places would charge Atleast $50 for after hours services. I was driving down 95 with my family to go to vacation in Savannah GA, when my engine shut down and left us stranded 4 1/2 hours from home. It was a scary mess. But I went on yelp and found the closest tow company and thank God I came across A-1 Towing. They helped us tremendously by getting a service vehicle to take us with the car and our luggage to the shop and checked out the issue which ultimately was due to an open campaign that Hyundai is covering. Klint was amazing, he drove his personal vehicle to take us to airport to get a rental and called and checked on us the next day. It was a scary time and I'm glad we had a good company to help us out so far from home. read more

Courteous, quick response, fair prices, and great mechanics! RV trailer tire blowout on I-95, north of Ridgeland SC. Our roadside assistance dispatched A-1 Tow. What I love about Yelp is it gives me the opportunity to highlight great businesses and why they're great. This is NOT one of those times. Yesterday my wife had a flat tire, after calling Allstate roadside assistance, A-1 Towing excepted the job to come and change the flat tire for her. This happened at 12:15 PM and I received a text with their estimated time of arrival of 1:30. An hour and 15 minutes is a long time to wait however it would still be faster than me driving two hours to get to her myself. So we went along with that. Well, 1:30 came and went, at 2 o'clock I called A-1 Towing asking them where are they, at this point my wife had been waiting on the side of the road for one hour and 45 minutes (30 minutes after when they said they'd be there). The response I got was the guy was going out on a tow and it took longer than expected, however he's in the area now and will be there "any minute". (OK I'm not sure why they excepted the job to change her tire, knowing a woman is sitting on the side of the road, if they had other tow jobs to do. But hey, water on the bridge because he's gonna be there any minute right?) Well he wasn't there "any minute", in fact I had to call again 45 minutes later. After being put on a hold a long time, I was now told "he had truck problems and he's on his way back to the shop, I'm going to send someone else out there". This is the point where I almost went through the roof, my wife is been waiting for 2 1/2 hours and nobody is even on their way yet! They have both my and my wife's cell phone number and I received no communication that no one is coming as my wife is sitting on the side of the road waiting for someone who isn't even coming! At this point I canceled it because I have no reason to believe anybody's ever going to come. Very very very bad customer service. They should never excepted the job in the first place and let someone else from a different shop take it and actually help her. The only thing I can chalk this up to is they are money hungry to except the job knowing they're leaving a woman strain on the side of the road for a ridiculous amount of time. Because of A-1 Towing wasting our time, it took over four hours before my wife was up and running again. Do not use this company!!!! I wish Yelp allowed for negative star reviews. read more

They left waiting for more than 1 hour and after I called to know about it they stated to ignore may calls, service so bad.

A-1 took care of my Ford F-150 after it overheated and I was stranded with 4 hours left in my journey back home from HHI. They were able to repair my vehicle same day and I was able to safely make it home that night. So thankful for this place as the situation could have been much worse. They were very knowledgeable and I strongly recommend them for any repairs or needs for your vehicle. Very honest and fair prices. Thanks again A-1 Towing!! read more

These folks are so awesome. Our trailer came off on the 95 and I talked to Bobby and he was so helpful and nice. He calms you down said he could have a truck to us in the next 45 minutes and about 20 minutes later here comes a truck. He took our trailer to there yard. We could not pick up our trailer for about 3 weeks and when we came all there employees were so helpful. Casey and his crew helped us to get our trailer back on the road. They did not charge us daily fees. They went above and beyond for us. This is the best place to deal with, very honest and reasonable priced. We can not say enough about how GREAT this place is. read more

We broke down yesterday after having a tire blow out while driving our 17 year old's truck down to Florida from North Carolina. Casey our tow truck driver picked us up in an hour and we decided we should replace all 4 tires and spare as our tires were old and should of been replaced before we made the trip. This was all at 5 pm on a Sunday when all tire places were closed. Casey basically got the whole town to come in and replace the tires so we didn't have to spend the night. Greatest thing was the service and humbleness of all the guys helping and they didn't charge an arm and a leg, matter of fact we were extremely surprised how inexpensive the tow, and 5 tires replaced mounted and balanced. Couldn't recommend these wonderful people enough! read more

On the way back to Hilton Head after Irma evacuation, the Jeep's transmission temperature light came on. Excellent advice from the owner and a very nice technician. We were headed north on I-95 the day before Easter and had a tire blow out a mile before the Ridgeland exit.
