The owner is exceptionally kind, extremely professional, and thoughtful to both the dog and the dog's caretaker. I was taking care of my daughter's dog after my daughter had been injured and had to leave the dog with a friend. The dog had been frightened and uncared for, for a few months. Also, I have severe allergies to fragrances. The owner was very gentle with the dog, used her own "invented" fragrance free shampoo, and brought the dog's trust and appearance back to a shiny, happy doggie self. I will always be very grateful for the owner's care and expertise during a difficult time for my family. read more

If you love your pet, don't go here. My animals were abused and neglected while in Storms care. So many visits to vet and a long recovery period. I used this facility years before for grooming and had no problems. I feel so bad to this day for trusting this owner & staff with my pet family. They need to be looked at thoroughly by authorities & shut down until they get it consistently acceptable. Worst experience of my life. read more

Called to inquire if they did walk-in services for a nail and face trim. Lady barked at me, "My scissors don't touch dirty dogs!" I asked what about a nail trim to which she rudely replied, "Not today!" As a potentially new customer I can't believe the tone in which she replied. Obviously I will take my business elsewhere where it's appreciated. read more

I bring my two dogs here regularly, and my daughter also brings her dogs here. Kim does a great job on doodles, labs, Golden's, and keeshounds. My coworker also brings her doodle here and raves about the service and how good her pup looks. BTW, her prices are the best around, and it is clearly posted that there is an extra charge for matted dogs and flea and ticks. People who bring in poorly taken care of dogs, expect perfection, walk out without paying, should be ashamed of themselves and their opinions should be ignored. When a business tells you the cost of their service, upfront and before doing anything, the customer has a choice to accept that service or walk away. Just like any service business. When a customer walks away without paying, in my opinion that is theft. read more

BEWARE!!!! DONT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!! The place is dingy, dirty with clutter everywhere. My pets were left unattended when I came to pick them up. One pet was traumatized, hiding under a chair when i walked in. She quoted a price $120 per dog and then wanted an additional $60 and when I refused to pay the additional fee, she called the police on me. After the encounter with the police. Funny thing is one of the officers had brought a pet there, lets say he never came back. I didn't have to pay the additional fee. She called animal control on me for the number of dogs I had brought to be groomed. They showed up at my door this morning. What she didn't know, they weren't all my dogs, nor was it her business. Please don't bring your dog here. read more

Apparently my businessvisn't wanted here. My regular groomer was unavailable and this was the only place that could get my Lab Mastiff mix in for a bath and nail trim. I just heard from a prior employee that this business owner talked negatively about me. I had no idea who she is nor do I cate. How unprofessional!! Will never go back here.... read more

Kim did a great job grooming Lucy and Bird. They look so cute! Bird can be a barker, but Kim said she didn't mind, so that made my stress level go down! And they both seemed pretty comfortable with her when I walked in. This was my first time here, and I'll be back! read more

A-1 Pet Grooming - Pet Groomers Near Me - Lockport, Illinois

I love this place. I should say all my dogs love this place. All the ladies are wonderful. Whether I have all 3 in at the same time or one by one. When we pull up they are hoping all over to get out and go in. From the lady that washes another one drys and another does the nails and haircuts. My dogs have a blast running around their place. My 3 dogs give this place 5 paws and I'll give it 5 stars read more

Kim always does an awesome cut for my Yorkie Gracie! Reasonably priced. Highly recommend A-1 Pet Grooming!

A-1 Pet Grooming In Lockport for the win!! After a terrible experience at another groomer (in Romeoville) , Kim fixed up an awful mess. She was so patient with my hyper goldendoodle puppy and she did such an amazing job! You could see her experience shine through by the way she calmed my pup when he started to get antsy and by the handsome cut she gave him! I saw it all, first hand, and could not be more pleased! First time customer, definitely a forever customer! Thank you so much, Kim! See you next visit! read more

I was very disappointed with how my parents dog was handled when she was staying with me. Kim was very rough with her. My children made me promise to Never take our dogs to her for their grooming. I would say that she was just having a bad day, but after talking to other people around town this seems to be the norm for her. It is a shame, would have loved to find another close groomer read more

This woman is absolutely ridiculous.. took our dog there for grooming and she came back scared and trembling. I contacted her about why my always outgoing dog is acting this way and all she could do was insult me....Kim was very loud and abusive to our family pet that is 3 pounds of fun but for almost a week she's hid under the couch. She's 5 years old and has never been this way. We'll never go back, stay away from this groomer. read more

horrible service here. my dog was taken for a grooming and looked nothing like he did before. wouldn't trust this place at all. would give 0 stars if I could read more

Very disappointed! I went there one time with my two dogs and they were very rude, and criticized one of my dogs greatly after injuring it. They called my vet and hung up on them when my vet wouldn't share details about the injury. Would not recommend taking your animal here! read more

First time using this groomer and was very happy with them. Brought 2 dogs there and we were treated very professionally and groomer did an excellent job. Have used other places in Lockport but have never had this type service or care. Would highly recommend A-1 Pet Grooming. read more

Would not recommend this place. Horrible customer service. Kept answering calls while I was waiting in front to drop my cat off. Did not even clean his eyes and did not even tell me it was cash only until I was coming to pick him up. I appreciate them doing a good job with the shave but horrible customer service. Will not go back. read more

Don't go here - she has no compassion whatsoever for frightened dogs and is verbally abusive- so sorry my little dogs are afraid of your harsh and abusive technique- THEY'RE DOGS! You say you have 20!years of experience- act like it. read more

We've been using A-1 Pet Grooming for about a year now, but I can honestly say that this is the best groomer we've ever used for our Standard Poodles. Our dogs have never looked better and Kim really go the extra mile to ensure their stress is minimized. They pride themselves on quality work and it definitely shows. A-1 Pet Grooming is now the only groomer we will use! read more

I am very disappointed in this place. My first experience was with my chihuahua and that was a decent job. Kind of inconvenient that it's cash only, and she didn't tell me that over the phone either. My second experience was when I wanted to bring in my poodle. I was told by the vet that my dog only had a couple weeks left before we would have to put her down due to her declining health. At first, the owner I spoke with didn't want to do the job. She said it would be too stressful on my dog. I assured her the knots and mats were more stressful on her than a shave would be. She needed a shave down, not even a poodle cut. The owner told me that she would do the job if I washed and blow dried her at home myself and brought her in to be cut. I don't see what difference it would have made to have her washed and dried at the salon, but whatever. After trying to schedule for a few days, the owner told me she was having car troubles and she promised to call me that same day once she knew what was happening with her car. I kept trying to call for the next couple of days and never got through. It's now been almost 2 weeks and enough is enough. I was distraught enough about the news from the vet, and I had to go through all of this as well. Not good customer service if you ask me. read more

Loved how they groomed my miniature schnauzer today. This was first time going there but will go back. One of the best cuts he has every gotten, pretty darned perfect. Also Kathy the owner is very knowledge about controlling skin allergies by diet and gave me some excellent advice and information I needed to know even though I had done a lot of research myself. Kudos!! read more

I've brought three of my dogs here so far and been very pleased with the services. Its not like the "other place" I went to where they didn't even bother to brush the coats out and I was wearing half the dog when picked them up. I would recommend bringing my dogs here again when they are due for their next groomings! read more
