I'm kicking myself for not hunting these guys down way sooner in the process. I'd been working away at cleaning old gasket off the cylinders for my 1980 Yamaha XS1100 project bike for literally months and mostly had scratches on the aluminum to show for my efforts. I dropped these off for bead blasting on a Thursday and they were ready for pickup a week later. AMAZING results, and no damage to the aluminum. Their minimum charge appears to be $25, which is a freakin' bargain for the end result. Owner John is also a motorcycle aficionado and is knowledgeable about bikes. They were quick to turn down an additional project I tried to drop off given that there was potential to cause damage to the engine - the candor was much appreciated and they even made some recommendations on how to accomplish what I was trying to do on my own. If you're working on a project bike, A1 is a great resource to handle some of the requisite metal stripping projects professionally which will save you time and the potential for causing damage. Prices are extremely reasonable and turnaround times are quick. I'll be back in the near future to have the frame stripped. read more

A-1 Metal Stripping - Before - Sandblasting Near Me - Golden, Colorado

See all

great place! great service! have used them a couple of times and always terrific! very convenient to the Golden area.

Had an unexpectedly great experience here! This place also does business as Wadda Blast, LLC - both have the same address/phone, but Wadda Blast seems to have a website, while A-1 doesn't. I needed to find a way to get 100+ years of paint off the heating grates that are in our bungalow. I was pretty sure I needed to get them soda/media blasted, but the quotes I got were both over $300 to do 6 grates (eesh!). I brought the grates up to Golden (only a minor inconvenience, but at least a gorgeous drive!). The location is very convenient to I-70 (about 5 minutes once you get on CO 58). My quote was a whopping (yes, being sarcastic!) $30 - amazing, given the blasting quotes I had received. A-1 has a variety of media available to blast, but also has chemical dip tanks, which are perfect for small jobs like our heat grates. They were ready in less than a week! Everyone was super friendly to boot, so next time I need paint removed from metal, I'm going here. Bonus: I got to see some cool classic cars being rolled out of the blast rooms, all ready for a new paint job! read more

Took in my 73 challenger k-member, front and rear valence and my dash frame. They did a great job on my parts. Also was quick turnaround 7-10days and a good price. Recommended from mo-power masters. Will take future parts here. read more

Thorough Job. Professional service. Really good game adwaawaaaa c priced. Timely. Heydrr r cows t

I had eight cathedral-style furnace vent covers from my 1932 Denver home that were covered in 80 years of old, nasty paint and grime. After stripping two of them myself, I decided to hunt down someone to do it for me. Quotes from a few places that strip furniture were in the $50/vent ballpark. I used A-1 years ago, to strip the paint from some motorcycle frames, and having had good luck with them, then, I decided to stop in and see if they'd do the covers. My covers measured 15"x12" and they said they'd do them for $5 each. Woot! What a deal! I dropped them off on Tuesday and they called me three days later and said they were done. I dropped in, paid them, said hi to the dog and picked up the covers. They look great. All the old paint is gone and they're ready for paint. The best part, I didn't have to deal with the chemicals and time-suck of stripping them myself. If you have something that you want to paint and its made of metal, give these guys a shout. They're friendly, quick and do a good job. read more

Like the other reviewer, our registers and HVAC vents from our old house were covered in 80 years of paint. I dropped them at A-1 and, within a week, they returned them completely like new and ready for paint. I am going to recommend them to various contractors and painters. It results in a clean, professional look. They are also very friendly and kind and in a really interesting location. I am going to take the rest of my vents and registers and also my rusty metal porch furniture. Highly recommend them! read more

John is both knowledgeable and friendly. His staff are top notch experts with a wide variety of experience. They saved my bacon by double checking a project that had combined aluminum and steel. They turned what could have been a catastrophe into a success. Now my motorcycle will be perfect! read more
