Do not use! Driver was 30-45 minutes late to each lesson with my 15-year-old son. Never apologized or anything. Then, he cut the last lesson short and left my son in a parking lot by himself. Scheduled 3 lessons for my daughter (beginner driver). The first lesson was cancelled after the driver was already late stating that it was raining. It was drizzling and besides don't students need to know how to drive in the rain. The same driver was to come the following day. My daughter was dressed & ready, but the driver never alerted her that he was outside. She assumed he would call/text the same as he did to cancel or simply ring the doorbell. When I called to speak to the manager Caree boy was she rude & dismissive. She went on to tell me that the driver told her that he contacted my daughter and that he took pictures of our home. She said his GPS showed he was there for 13 minutes sitting in the driveway. I didn't receive any proof, but I do know that neither myself or my daughter received text messages or phone calls to say he was outside. She then went on to say the appointment was cancelled and I would need to pay an additional $30 in order to reschedule. On the second lesson the driver was significantly late 30-45 mins. I called Caree to make sure that she was aware my daughter had been standing outside this time and no one had arrived. I reminded her that my daughter was penalized previously over a lie and I did not want this to happen again. I also let her know the tardy ness was affecting her school schedule She immediately replied, "would you like to cancel the appointment?" I mean I absolutely would have loved to after her lack of professionalism, but my daughter really needed the practice and she was already missing work. I would not recommend this service as it seems many deal with lack of accountability, professionalism and overall poor customer service. I will like to say once my daughter finally got to driving her instructor Kenneth Russell was phenomenal! He gave me & my husband great feedback regarding her time with him. He held to the complete time frame of driving on the road, parking, and lane changes. He is appreciated & deserves 5 stars!! read more

The facility is ok. I took a defensive drivers class but I come to notice the office chair I'm sitting in is flaking and putting black stains on my clothes, the table was unsanitary and when you walk in here the floor is full of dirt. I saw a dead roach. Teacher was wonderful but they need to up their standards when it comes to being sanitary. read more

I booked six hours of driving lessons with a road test for my daughter only after calling the Lawrenceville location to confirm pickup/drop-off service. A1 advertises coverage throughout Gwinnett County, and I specifically gave my address. I was told it was within range and that classes were available on multiple days. After completing everything on my end before the close of business the day prior, I woke up to find the classes canceled without any notice. When I did speak with the person overseeing the situation, I was met with excuses rather than accountability or even a basic apology. The lack of professionalism was evident both online and over the phone. No courtesy call or email was provided before canceling, which shows a complete disregard for an individual's time, especially when services are booked for a child. This experience felt misleading and poorly handled from start to finish. I would not recommend A1. read more

STEER CLEAR!!! Unreliable and unsafe: Instructor literally fell asleep during my lesson!!! I am a 29-year-old licensed driver with no criminal record who had not driven a car in seven years. I signed up for six hours of lessons with A-1 in order to relearn how to drive prior to purchasing my first car after moving out of state by the end of the month. I only had driving experience in my home state of Alaska and have never driven in a bustling urban environment like Atlanta, so I was nervous about my lessons. My first instructor, Barbarella, fell asleep roughly fifteen minutes into our two-hour lesson. After I pulled out of the parking lot at my apartment complex, Barbarella turned on the radio. After so many years not driving, I didn't want the added distraction of the radio. I politely asked if I could turn the radio off for that reason. Barbarella said that I could turn it off, but added, "It keeps me awake." I incorrectly assumed that she was exaggerating or joking about that. Barbarella scrolled on her phone for awhile, as she did for the vast majority of the two-hour lesson. About ten minutes after I turned the radio off, I noticed out of the corner of my eye that she had put her phone down on her lap and had gone quiet and started breathing heavily. When I stopped the car at a stop light, I looked directly at her and her eyes were closed. She was asleep. I was shocked. I remembered what she said about the radio and immediately turned the radio on. This caused her to wake up and return to alertness. Despite my discomfort, I kept the radio on until the lesson was over, afraid she might fall asleep again. I didn't say anything to her about it because I was so surprised and embarrassed, and I don't like confrontation. I hoped that I had simply had a bad driving instructor and still wished to complete the remaining set of two two-hour lessons to get my money's worth out of the experience, so I called A-1 and they kindly rescheduled me with a different instructor. However, they never asked what had gone wrong with my lesson, which struck me as odd -- as if they're used to having to do this. I felt obligated to call them back a few days later in order specifically complain about my experience with Barbarella because I felt I had a responsibility to notify them of her dangerous behavior. The following week, I waited for my new driving instructor to arrive at the scheduled time. He never did. I waited for an hour just to be sure, but he neither arrived nor contacted me about being late or needing to reschedule. At this point I was fed up with A-1 and didn't want to waste any more time or money on such an unreliable experience. I called A-1 and asked for a refund for that lesson and to cancel the remaining one, and they said they would comply and issue one. Two weeks later they still had not done so. When I called again, they argued me and insisted that my driver had shown up, despite all empirical evidence to the contrary. They said they would refund me but only after charging me a $30 cancellation fee for the two lessons that never happened. I was livid. All of this was inconvenient and stressful for me, but I cannot help but imagine how much worse things have been if I was, for example, a parent scheduling lessons for my teenaged child, or somebody taking valuable time off work or other important obligations in order to take a lesson only for the instructor to be a no-show. In conclusion: do not pay this company your hard-earned money or give them your time. Do your research and learn from my mistake. read more

Since they boast 19 locations in Atlanta, why are the classes online and we had to drive to Marietta to take the test? Let's back up. The first instructor in College Park was great! She was responsive, sent a detailed paragraph about what was learned in the lesson, etc. Besides spending 20 minutes getting food for herself during the lesson, great instructor. The next 2 lessons were with a man in Midtown. He never confirmed or responded if he was coming or not. He did show up though and on time. He also spent time in drive thrus with my daughter getting food. He taught her to NEVER press the brake on the interstate bc it would freak people out. WHAT?! He seemed high honestly. His description of the lesson was 'she did good'. The actual driver test she failed immediately when the instructor said "this way" using his hand and thumb to show RIGHT. She signaled LEFT and failed immediately. Honestly, he should have said right and not signaled for her to look his way. Anyway, save your money and test directly at DMV. read more

I wouldn't use A1 due to the difficulty of scheduling an appointment and poor quality customer service. If you pay to register, the next instructors available are usually around 3 weeks out from the date of registration. I booked an appointment for my friend and did not receive any information that the instructor would not come to the door to knock if there was no student outside. Unfortunately, I was not available to answer the phone when the instructor Kenneth called me 15 minutes after the appointment start time, which made me wonder if he was late, so my friend didn't know that the instructor was here. I tried explaining this situation over the phone to the A1 customer service line and they were very rude and dismissive, made no effort to show understanding in an amenable manner, which left a bad taste in my mouth. I am turned away from using the company in the future. It is also hard to reschedule appointments as when you cancel an appointment, you have to wait for the company to approve it before getting the credits back and sometimes that can take a day or so... read more

Absolutely the worst in customer service I have experienced the entire year. Just off the phone with a representative that just spewed venomous retorts to every inquiry I made. She was short, dismissive, lacked a minimum of concern in regards to my questions and without a doubt exhibited scorn and disdain for my presence on the phone. I paid almost $400 for a virtual class scheduled to begin on Tuesday June 18 at 10. I called Friday June 14 and Monday June 17 for information on how to access the class. I was told that I would be given an access code via email both days. Never received. I called on the morning that the class was supposed to start at 9 am. My first calls went unanswered and then a woman answered and assured me that she would send me the access code before the class started. Still no code. I then called again at 9:58 and was told that it was too late to enter the class which started at 10 and this was not my fault. I was told that I could go to class the next day and would receive the code Tuesday afternoon. The woman on the phone pretended to care about my frustrations and assured me that she would personally call me and send the code. Neither one of those things were done. It is Wednesday morning..I'm supposed to have class and still do not have a code to access the class. It seems that they took my money and have no plans to actually allow me to attend the class. My teenager has been waiting for six months and nothing is available anywhere near us, yet A-1 has our money. They are also excessively rude when you call on the phone, will put you on hold, and will refuse to help paying customers. All I wanted were lessons for my son as promised; they, in effect, stole hundreds of dollars from me and they only respond by asking us to wait a few more months until someone is free to provide lessons. If you are thinking about sending your teenager here for driving lessons-DO NOT! Our daughter went this summer and its the most unorganized program we've ever experienced. The instructor even decided to talk to the kids about personal issues and had kids sitting on each others laps in the car while transporting them to driving location. We then learned that they had 6 more hours of drive time before they get their certificate and that has been a nightmare since they never have available slots and if you happen to be lucky enough to get one the instructor cancels at the last minute. We would NEVER have done the actual driving lesson part with this establishment if we hadn't already spent 400 dollars, learned its actually a different "qualified" instructor and wasted an entire week of our kids time during the already short summer vacation. read more
