Stevens & Stevens has been a guardian angel in my life. When my husband died during a tragic…read moreaccident on June 8, 2008, I had to close his business. During the grieving process, I not only had to give away my husband's clothes, but figure out how to dispose of his business records and our personal records, files, photos and paperwork from 32 years of marriage. My only recourse at the time was to store his classified business files and our personal files in my house. The documents filled the entire upstairs of my house as well as the garage. It looked like I was a hoarder with these piles of papers and boxes and boxes and boxes of documents. But in fact, I just needed help. By law, you can't toss paper records in the trash, because the items could be subject to interception sparking identify theft and other compromises and you can't just let them sit in a landfill. Enter Jason and the guys at Stevens & Stevens, who provide a way to shred the documents and allow me to move forward in my life. The personal service (coming to my house to pick up the paperwork for shredding), professionalism, kindness and price point have made this process easy and I know I am disposing of the paper records legally. The Stevens and Stevens team members who pick up the documents for shredding are always friendly and fast. And my dogs, Max and Muggle, love meeting them! I still have more items to go through from my 30-plus career as a journalist and author ...and will be calling Stevens & Stevens once again to help me. I highly recommend this company. First of all, they DO NOT shred any documents onsite. They have no trucks capable of doing that…read more They will tell customers on the phone that they do to just trick them. They give you a certificate saying that your documents have been destroyed, In reality, they have not. They are just sitting in the warehouse spilled all over the floor. The reason they are affordable is because they are slave wagers. They do not pay their employees the same rate as the other shredding companies out there and they do not pay their employees overtime. I have reported them to the Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division at the Tampa District Office . They raided COPS (Confidential on site paper shredding) and found them in violation and fined them thousands of dollars and got all of the employees paid their overtime that was due to us. They also have been reported to DOT for hiring drivers without proper license or medical cards to operate their trucks. Also, many employees are on drugs and they have NOT tested them and that is a DOT violation that will be punishable of fines, shutdown, and criminal prosecution. Bottom line is they treat and have no respect for their employees and customers and they continue to break laws. Your documents are not secured and the certificates are false. This company deserves to be shut down and prosecuted!!! Honest people should not give them their business!
