Looking for a gym with a great community vibe? Anytime Fitness has you covered…read more This is the most well kept and organized gym that I have ever been to. After relocating to Johns Island, I needed a new place to work out. This was the first, and last gym that I toured. It's immediately apparent after walking in that cleanliness and friendliness are two of the top priorities of this facility. The equipment is incredibly varied and you should be able to find everything you need for a good workout. When you enter there is a small table and sitting area to the left where you can sign up for a membership or chill out. The gym offers a wide open space with really good distancing in between machines so it never feels too crowded. The back of the gym has a small area with cubbies where you can leave your bags, personal items, and anything you don't want to carry around with you. The entire facility is accessed through a key fob and their are security cameras scattered throughout the building. You really don't get the feeling that anyone is going to steal anything because of the community vibe of the gym. There are bathrooms and showers on site for gym members, and a small refrigerator with drinks that uses the honor system for payment. WIFI is available and the connection has been great from all corners of the gym. Most notably, the staff and trainers always have positive attitudes and say hello when you walk in. A special shout out to Mackenzie for always helping out members when it's needed and for always having an infectious smile that makes you feel welcome. If you're looking for a new gym in the Johns Island area, they offer a free trial day so you can see what it's like for yourself!

It's definitely for the more experienced lifter or for someone coming to work with a trainer... you won't get in trouble for lifting heavy or being creative here. It's not a bunch of machines with "how to" labels on them... it's free weights, squat racks, some benches, some machines upstairs... it definitely has a grit vibe... so if that's what you're looking for it may be a great fit for you! I just got an email today that Zach (who was working regularly when I was there) is the new owner and I really liked him... I think he'll do some good things for the place! Excited to see what that looks like!

So they closed for renovations and reopened and that is what I am reviewing. I was going here…read morealmost a year before this, and have a good idea of the changes. Plus, while they were closed for renovations I went to their much bigger Summerville Trolley location. If you're just looking for a regular globo gym, this is 5 stars. New equipment, improved lighting and everything is new. There are no 35lb plates, excluding and he HIIT Zone ones. They are missing the little half seat bench that you they used to have. Also the machines have less weights. If you're looking for a leg extension machine or leg curl machine, these are 200-260lbs. The good ones hit 360lbs. They have varieties of equipment, not everything is just 1 branch. I think it's mostly Matrix with some Nautilus stuff sprinkled in For those who have some specialities when they come to training, I'd say 5 stars for bodybuilders. 4 for power lifters and a generous 4 for CrossFit/hyrox folk. If you were coming to this location you ard forgiven if you don't notice all the changes. All the equipment is slick from the oils that are in new pads and equipment. They got rid of some good equipment like the T Bar Row, and then got smaller machines that allowed for more. The booty and glute room has a nice new belt squat, which shouldn't be over there is it's more quad dominant . Also, hip abductor machine but no adductor machine right next to it? They have some hip thrust equipment, from a belt hip thrust to some hip thrust elite machine with a bar. Their GHD machine is bad. You can't lock your feet/shins you. You can adjust the height, not lock yourself in. Also, they got the machine designed for short people because at maximum extension, it's too short. Now if you wonder why I knocked it down for powerlifters and those who do HIIT training, you'll either understand when you come in or you won't. I'm giving them 5 stars for what they are and what I use them for. I'm a natural bodybuilder who completes, they meet my needs. I don't do classes so can't comment on that.

I'm dropping my review down by a star. I have been here over a year now and while I like the gym…read moretheir AC is horrendous. I understand it's a big facility, of course everyone working out is going to heat the place up... so you would think they'd invest in a better unit and or run it colder. Within five minutes of being there, before I start working out on occasions, I'm already sweating. I don't remember it being this bad last summer. And that's the thing- it's not even summer yet so how much worse is this going to get? The staff remains nice and friendly. There has been no update in the equipment in the last year I've attended so half of it is new and half is outdated. That being said everything works well and there is something for everyone. Even when it is busy there is always equipment or space available for you to move. I've heard other members complain about the teens hanging around. While I haven't experienced that myself yet I can only pray this doesn't turn into another PF. That's why I left that gym- because parents used it as a daycare and instead of the teens working out they just hogged equipment to yap. I'll update over the summer.

We selected this day for my first time (read: I am super out-of-shape, do not go to the gym, etc.) because it was low on cardio, focused on different stations of strength-based work, and easy to be modified. For example, if you move to a station where you are to lift weights, you could select 10 pound weights or 30 (or whatever) that is best suited for your needs. I wasn't nervous about coming because I've been to gyms of similar formats before. I was weary of embarrassing my friend in front of her other friends and coaches due to my lack of physical ability, but she assured me that no one would be judgmental and everyone would be encouraging. She was exactly right. Even better, no one seemed to give a rat's ass about what I was doing. And I mean that in a positive way. How nice to be able to work out and not feel like anyone is looking at you. That said, the coaches did keep an eye on me, to make sure I was doing the correct format or to offer me tips and modifications when it was obvious I needed it. I really enjoyed training at F45 this week, and I wish I lived in town so I could go back more often. I might want to check with the facility to see if they offer packages where you can purchase like a 10-class pass or something, because then I could join my friend when I visit from out of town or am home for holidays. I highly encourage anyone in Mount Pleasant or who lives in the area of an F45 to try out a class. You will not regret it!
