I had a cashier by the name of Gabriel (skinny tall kid with shoulder length hair), & I was observing him while I was in line and he would not greet any of the customers, he would proceed to give them dirty looks, and I think he mumbled "thank you" once to a customer. As I approached my turn in line, he mumbled if I needed a bag and I said no, and that was all he said to me during the entire transaction! He did not greet me nor thank me, and he just handed me my reusable bag, and I did not say one word as well. What kind of customer service is this? Gabriel looked miserable and as if he did not want to be there. I should have told him life's too short to be unhappy, and if he was not going to give his best then he should look for another job.

It originated from the 100Yen…read morestores that are all over Japan, This location in Long Beach is well run, with fully stocked shelves, ranging from very specific products used for one particular purpose to everyday things that one would constantly have to replenish. Slowly browsing the shelves is like walking through a series of infocommercials...very possible that what you buy was a complete waste of money, but having the risk be minimal since it's only a dollar. When we went to Japan many years ago (before Daiso made it to the US in 2005), 100 yen truly meant a dollar. But the Japanese economy has really struggled compared to the US, to the point where 100 yen is only worth 64 cents now in 2024. Another thing I noticed is how they handle labeling of prices. Both 100yen stores and US dollar stores keep the effort of pricing products low, by selling everything at one even price (i.e. a dollar or 100yen). Of course, with inflation, this is not sustainable...prices need to go up. So rather than having to relabel everything as prices go up, instead Daiso uses the prelabeled price in YEN to represent a CODE..translated to a dollar amount per charts that are found throughout the store. And the vast majority of product has no price...which means that it is the default price of the entire store (which in 2024 is $1.75). Unlike 99cent or dollar stores in the US which sell mostly excess products that you can find in department or grocery stores, much of the products in Daiso are made exclusively for them. Thus, you can find real useful things here, at decent quality. On this visit (which we made only because we saw this store near the place where we had lunch), we ended up getting 2 china soup bowls, loose tea leaf filters, a fat/scum skimmer for soups, a spring loaded glass bottle for Q-tips (or in my case, Glide flossers), and a 10 pack of clasp chip bag clips. And none of them had marked prices, so defaulted to $1.75 each. Even here, they ask if you want a bag, needing to charge you the dime if you answer 'Yes' (that's California). So we always say 'No', and because this time we had not brought reusable bags, used the bowls to contain the knick-knacks back to our car. Would have been a very different story if we had walked, but alas, Brand Daiso is one of those stores that is not within walking distance from our place.

From containers, house supplies, stationary and more, it's a really useful store for everyday use. There's even items you wouldn't normally find in other stores. This store is a bit smaller than others but all employees are really friendly and helpful. I went to find a basket for my house for clothes and other stationary goods and they had some really cool options to choose from. I always leave with Japanese chips too to take on the road.

All of the items come bought as mystery pallets from Amazon & the store is restocked on Thurs and Friday. Pricing is the most expensive on the restock days and I can't even fathom what's left by $0.50 Weds! Will be back to treasure hunt again! Household goods, kitchenware, arts and crafts, school supplies, party supplies, hardware supplies, tools, food and snacks, cleaning products, etc. Although they have tons of items, there's a few things they need to correct here. Items that are not tagged can be tricky. The cashier can charge you at any price on the spot and you wouldn't know unless you ask. What looks like a dollar can be more. Inflation and tariffs are definitely hurting the pocket. You also can't go back inside once you've paid. If you bought something already and checked out, you can't go back inside unless you leave your items up front. Maybe they've had issues with theft before or miscommunications with items. The cashier was friendly however, she was nice about it. Just strange practices but I get it, it's a small business and people probably steal here. EDIT: Came back here again shortly after. Cashier Julie was not nice and needs to be more friendly. Different cashier than the first one. She's a F!l!p!no lady. Kind of snooty and arrogant. Didn't smile nor said hello. When I spoke to her in Tagalog, she acted like she didn't hear me and responded back in English. The other guys that stock here are nice however. We needed an empty box to put all our stuff in but he took it from us to bring it up to the front before we can use it. This small store is a bit strict.

The company replied "Please don't reserve again online bc that costs me $ everytime". I explained to the company why I used the book now feature on their website since their email was not working, the company responded "Thanks for pointing out the obvious lol there's no reason to be rude tho ". As a potential customer just looking for a quote, I felt like this company owner demonstrated unprofessionalism in her texting customers using "$" and "LOL". The whole experience felt unprofessional and unpleasant. Please improve your customer service and communication with potential customers. Also please provide a workable email address for customers to request a quote without having to directly call as some customers prefer email communication instead of calling or texting.

He shook his head and proceeded to tell me to make sure it is nice and tight to avoid spillage. This was the last time that I shopped at this location as I won't ever go back, which is a shame cause it is so convenient; however, I am sick and tired of being harassed by Kia's employees for no reason. I understand it is located in a ghetto "iffy" area of town but Kia, you do have some great customers and your staff should treat us respectfully and courteously. As a matter of fact, if I am in other areas of town I wlll shop at other locations. I happened to be in Cerritos yesterday morning so I trekked over to the Lakewood location and happened to be speaking to their owner (Aram) and voiced my opinions about Kia's location and he stated that's a shame and I am always welcome over at his location (I was complimenting him on how nice and friendly his employees are).

I like the concept of 99¢ Cents Plus Store. It kind of carries a swap meet feeling. You go in there…read morejust knowing that you are going to walk away with something useful and/or incredibly exciting. It literally brought me joy to shop around the store. The store is large and has many aisles stacked with goodies, ranging from household items, food products, drinks, teas, jewelry, makeup, perfume, and clothing to daily essentials and fun gag gifts. You are bound to find something that you like! One of the older male employees appeared kind and friendly. I appreciated his customer support despite our language barrier. The ladies at the cash wrap were the downfall of the entire experience and are the primary reason I will not give a full five-star rating. Their unprofessional behavior and poor attitudes significantly impacted what was otherwise an enjoyable visit. Upon checking out, I noticed that all of my goodies were ringing up well beyond what I had calculated. When I politely asked what the store charged for taxes, as the total was approximately $10-$20 higher than expected, one cashier stated that it was not something she would know. She did not offer to provide customer service by asking someone who did know. Intrinsically, I felt that she was not being forthcoming with me. I told her, "No worries," and explained that I would set everything aside, review the items, and decide how I wanted to proceed. However, once she saw me pull out my calculator and begin reviewing the prices, she suddenly decided she wanted to answer my question--albeit begrudgingly. She made several statements regarding the pricing and taxes that did not make much sense. The numbers kept changing, and there never seemed to be a clear explanation as to what was actually being charged. I eventually sought clarification from the other cashier, who appeared noticeably sour in her attitude toward me. She performed much the same dance as the first cashier. It was not until someone I knew entered the store and we began socializing that a clearer explanation emerged. During our conversation, he asked a similar question regarding pricing. At that point, a more direct explanation was finally provided. From my understanding, for many items priced at $1.00 or more, an additional dollar is added to the listed price. For example, if an item is marked at $2.00, the final shelf price may effectively become $3.00 before taxes. Items marked at $0.99 generally remain $0.99, excluding applicable taxes. Admittedly, there are not many items remaining at the true $0.99 price point. From my understanding, this explanation does not account for the overall tax amount. I will be reviewing my receipt further and will update my review if necessary. The pricing structure can leave customers feeling confused or even misled, so I would encourage shoppers to pay close attention to pricing and ask questions before completing their purchases. That said, outside of the customer service concerns and the lack of pricing transparency, the store itself is truly a fabulous little addition to Long Beach. The variety of products, the treasure-hunt atmosphere, and the overall shopping experience make it a fun place to explore. I would still recommend checking it out.

I'm pretty sure this 99 Cents Plus store is not affiliated with any national chain (like 99¢ Only stores), but it's not hindering their inventory supply in any way. The place was packed and had some of the widest variety of knick knacks I've ever seen. A large part of the store has food items that you would find at your corner neighborhood store (I want to call them bodegas but my wife has told me repeatedly that it's not a term used out here). The prices are what you would expect, similar to other dollar stores. The rest of the store can be treated like a treasure hunt. Variety of different clothes and housewares with a surprisingly big selection. PIcked up a mortar and pestle set (plastic!), zip ties (something I keep buying thinking we don't have any at home...and being wrong). Most prices were either $1.49 or $1.99. The most unusual thing was they were selling Bettas for $1.99..one would think that is unusual, but looking on-line,.. it's not.

They kept slipping down my nose and gave me headache from the weight on my ears. I had them adjusted 3 times . I was even given the suggestion to by eyeglass cushions to keep them from sliding and be more comfortable on my ears. They worked until the silicone dug into my ears. I went to return them and was told the manager wasn't there and I had to come when she was there . I went back a week later, tonight 7/22/26 and the manager wasn't there. I checked in before seeing the manager was there. When it was my turn, the same young lady that turned me away previously called my name, I told her, I was back and per her I needed to see the manager. The manager had a customer, She said she'd let the manager know I was waiting. My name was called again by Eddie. I told him I was waiting to see the manager , I was seated and he told me to come up and he could assist me. He was knowledgeable, Personable and kind. While he processed my refund we talked about the FIFA World Cup. He told me he's off tomorrow but my insurance would be contacted to process the return with them tomorrow 07/23/26, since it was after 5p.
