Was working in the area and a little shocked to find a 99 cent anything in Culver City. This store is neat, organized and has everything from tools to cute clothing items and medical supplies. I was going to Coachella and looking for items for that and left with one of those $1 hands sanitizers in the flat, square, bottle that sprays pretty scented sanitizer. I also purchased a hat with a flap at the back for cover and a neck/face scarf. Of the 3 I definitely used the hand sanitizer. Would come back again for random bits and bots. read more

Small Asian owned discount store. If you aren't awake in 2025 you should realize nothing is literally 99 cents anymore. I'm guessing the low rating is because dumb people come in here expecting something durable or functional for a huge discount with no corresponding decrease in quality. Sorry. Until that obvious business idea takes off, everything is plastic in quality. Don't be buying that tire pump expecting it to work. I got a bunch of random stuff I forgot I suffer without, like a utensil holder, and of course bubbles which are surprisingly hard to locate. Works for me. I used to go here all the time to purchase crafting items but then they started slowing get rid of the fake flowers, so I stopped going as much, now they barely have any at all. Today I walked in with an item and my receipt in my hand thinking I could do an exchange, but while in line I saw a sign posted that they don't take returns or exchanges. This shop is really a 99 cents and up sort of place. Tons of products and variety but it's like BIG BOX had a relationship with the flea market. Since more of the items from what I saw were more than 99 cents, it sort of took the air out of my tire. The service is meh and cleanliness is not their strong point. No food or drinks sold here. It's a collection of a wide arrangement of items, not logically sorted or categorized in any meaningful fashion. I came in here looking for a fireplace lighter and quickly left. I kind of found what I needed (it was a large looking match that was a big lighter), asked the lady behind the counter how much it was, and she barked, "look at the price on it". Disclaimer: there are lots of things that are more than 99 cents at this store, BUT, there are also lots of things that ARE 99 cents only, and good buys. What I love about this store is that it has so many cool Asian things. Little containers, and Hello Kitty-type containers ("Hola Kitty" as I refer to the knock-offs). They have MANY different candles, most of which are $1.29 and elegant-looking. Also, lots of candle holders, candle displays, and overall nice home decorations ( think they buy a lot of Target close-out items). TONS of craft items - for a preschool speech therapist, it is a dream come true. You can find things like Gator Board (that super thick poster board) for $1.99/sheet, wooden puzzles, pre-prepared crafts, etc. Also, tons of scrapbooking items, jewelry making tools, beads, charms, clasps, you name it. There are great things for the home as well. They have energy efficient light bulbs (best prices around), batteries, automobile-related items, tools, and lots of similar items you would pay more for elsewhere (I just paid $4 for a plug for the bathtub - there, they had the same one, plus a sink size plug included for $1!!!). I don't have pets, or even like them, but if I did, I'd go to this place - they have a whole aisle full of stuff for your furry friends. Gift wrap, tissue paper, ribbon, wine bottle gift boxes, cards, and other gift-related items also have an aisle to themselves. In summary, you can find pretty much any dollar-store item here. The male employee walks around with a mustard face. all the employees look mad they have to work and take it out on the customers. These people do not deserve your money the way they treat loyal customers. the more you shop here the more rude the employees act towards you. A large assortment of everything - any kind of product you can think of - pantry food, arts and crafts, house wares, pet supplies, party supplies, toys, crafts, socks, undies, toiletries, bath and beauty, hardware, storage, baby stuff, live bamboo, food processors, the most random stuff that you won't find in chain dollar stores. This is more of a "Chinese import" place than a traditional dollar store. Yes, they sell things that are over $1 but still at very low prices. They have a strangely large crafting/hobby selection with knitting and threading supplies, scrapbooking stuff, even beading. Someone said things aren't organized in any manner but it obviously is - things are grouped together, you just have to explore a bit to get the lay of the land. People complain about the customer service but I've only had pleasant experiences with the staff here, as limited as their English is. C'mon people, it's a discount store, not the Four Seasons. Like others have said, the name "99 Cent Depot" is a misnomer -- I don't think I saw anything at all for 99 cents. That said, it's a terrific place to buy craft supplies and other little things you didn't realize you needed. I will say that the clerks seem very suspicious of people, which I get, they're just TERRIBLE at hiding it to the point that it's uncomfortable. I've never been to a dollar store where they make you leave your reusable grocery tote at the front counter rather than letting you use it to shop. I understand their reasoning, it just felt super awkward (pfft...I've never stolen anything in my life but if I were going to, it sure AF wouldn't be at the dollar store!). This was once my favorite 99 cent store in Los Angeles when it had clean aisles and easy to find merchandise. However, they've been filling every bit of empty floor space with crap and even filling every bit of airspace with more crap and shelves that get higher and higher every time I go in and merchandise getting harder and harder to find. It may sound funny to say but their prices are clearly going up with a number of items listed at $1.25 and others as much as $4.99. I guess times are tough but just about everything is junk in the place and if I wanted to pay more than a buck I'd go to Target. This place is hidden to the side of Toys R Us/Pavillions/Pier One so parking is generally easy to find. I now prefer Dollar Tree down the street to this place because it's much more cleanly organized and I believe almost everything is still .99 cents. read more

These are the rudest people ever - STAY AWAYYY! Paid $1/balloon to have 10 balloons inflated with helium yesterday - by nighttime, they were on the ground. I called today twice - the first guy barely spoke any English and I couldn't understand a word he said. The second time I called, a woman answered and barked at me in broken English that their balloons only work for one day and she wouldn't give me more for less money - then hung up on me. I love the 99 Cent Depot. Not everything is 99 cents here, but the store itself is awesome. Isles upon isles of neat things. It's especially good for kids craft items. I can get all sorts of things for my daughter's school projects, her sewing hobby, etc. They also sell nice cosmetics and even underwear! The kitchen supply isle is neat. My opinion might be biased because I have a thing for dollar stores. I go to the typical dollar tree just to see what cool cheap trinkets I can pick up for the kids around me. Who am I kidding? Sometimes I pick up a cool toy for me too. All that aside, the chain stores, Dollar Tree and 99 cent stores all tend to have the same things and aren't really anything special. Then one day, a friend introduces me to the 99 cent depot. Wow. Stuff. All kinds of stuff. Cool stuff, weird stuff, nostalgic stuff, stuff I need, stuff I don't need, and stuff I decided I needed right then and there. This place is great for craft supplies, among other things. It's too difficult to even begin to describe the wide variety of items you can find here. I've been here 3 times and I've spent no less than an hour roaming the aisles each time. There's so many things. Seasonal things, too. It's like an adventure every time I go. It's a little hidden in the plaza, behind Pier One. Go waste an hour or two. I work hard at not being a hoarder, but this store makes it difficult. One star knocked off just because it can be messy and hard to find stuff sometimes. Note that it is the 99 cent depot, but not everything is 99 cents. The pricing varies, but it's still cheap. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for and the quality isn't always great. read more

Someone told me that this is a great place for art supplies for kids, and it really is. We also go there before any airplane trips to buy a bunch of junk to entertain my daughter, and it always works out great. For $20 you can load up a backpack with all kinds of random art supplies, cheapo toys, and games and it will keep the kids entertained for a long time! (Just be sure they don't put the stuff in their mouths...everything is from China and made of plastic!) Hidden goodies! Its packed with all kinds of random stuff at rock bottom prices. Not to be confused with 99 cent stores, this place is mostly above $.99. Be that as it may, the quality level of stuff here is way above similar depots out there. We bought a good pile of stocking stuffers and other giftmas Schwab for under $50... Enough for full stockings to 5 we ones. The trouble with this place is the service. Pretty terrible, and you gotta keep a sharp eye on the folks ringing you up. I've been going here for years, the customer service has always been pretty bad. The last few times though, absolutely awful. Today I spent over $100 on decorations for my job and some other Knick knacks, so I had about three huge over stuffed bags. I also currently have a brace on my hand/wrist. My car was parked right in front of the store so I start to push the cart towards it and the woman yells "you can't take cart outside!" So I just kind of stood there thinking okay these people clearly see I have limited function with my wrist and also I just spent over a hundred freakin dollars!!!! I waited for one of the employees to offer me assistance then since they can't allow carts to go outside, but nope. They just glared at me so I took two trips from the middle of the doorway to my car and then just left the cart. Rude employees terrible attitudes and honestly so useless.
