8/26/21 Barq's…read moreFamous Old Tyme Rootbeer Was founded in 1898 and is still kicking ass and taking names in my book. There were two type of soft drink I remember growing up with. One was Minute Maid orange soda and the other is Barq's Famous Old Tyme Rootbeer.   Barq's Famous Old Tyme Rootbeer was my top favorite soft drink.  Yet this was always tough to decide which drink I wanted, because each sip of either one would become my number one.   In the end, I mixed the drinks together so choosing who was number one became simple...Both. I haven't had either one of these name brands for a while, but Rootbeer is entering my mind as I write this review. I read a brief summary on the history of  Barq's Famous Old Tyme Rootbeer and was amazed to learn there were two different brands of this product.  Edward Barq met and befriended a guy named Jesse Robinson. Under Edward Barq's tutelage, Jesse was inspired to what Barq did. "Barq and Robinson signed a contractual agreement on Barq's product rights allowing Robinson to make his own concentrate version in beverage bottling Licenses."...in other words, Jesse made his own version of the Rootbeer.   The orginal Barq's Famous Old Tyme Rootbeer had caffeine in the drink.  Jesse Robinson's version was caffeine free.  If you ever tried both of these drinks, you might have tasted the difference.   Also, you might have  noticed the some bottles had blue labels to show which company the bottles were coming from.  Blue labels bottles meant they came from It was from Mississippi. Red labels meant it came from Lousiana. As a kid I noticed this, but did not give it to much thought about the difference label colors or what it meant. I thought they tasted the same.  Eventually, I started drinking more of the non- caffeine drinks. Maybe my mom saw how caffeine kept me up to long at night.  Rootbeer still remains my favorite soft drink and I have tried A&W Root Beer, Mug Root Beer, Dad's Root Beer and Sarsi Rootbeer.  Sarsi's type of rootbeer was wonderful.  Although I remember drinking it when it was in a glass bottle.  The only two types of Rootbeer I do not like are Vanilla Rootbeer  and Rootbeer Floats.  Both of these options ruin the experience for me.  I might have a Barq's Famous Old Tyme Rootbeer later on this week.  We will have to wait and see.
