Did Steve Harvey Predict Occupy Wall Street?…read more In 2005, I had the pleasure of ending a 3-year contract with the King of Comedy, Steve Harvey. It was a pleasure to serve a man that was more profound than the persona he portrayed. My daily routine two weeks each month began at 2:30 a.m. with a drive to my small café in Bedford, Texas, to gather the linens, china, glassware, portable cooking devices and any other special requests by Mr. Harvey to complete his daily breakfast and lunch meals. In the first six months of my employment with Steve Harvey, I would listen to his morning inspirations speeches as I prepared everything from egg white omelets and T-Bone steaks, to hearty oatmeal, fish and grits. He never could remember my name and I never looked at him as a celebrity. To me, he was just Steve, the man that loved his wife, cherished his children and longed for his mother. One morning, Steve started his show by giving advice on finance. I listened carefully because of my constant need to make ends meet as a small business owner. He told his audience that if they wanted a long-term relationship with a bank to find a small branch in the middle of nowhere or a small credit union, because they treat you better. He said they have personalized service and sometimes you would probably see the bank president. He told a story of how he put his money in a small suburban bank outside Dallas Texas. I never forgot his advice. It's now 2011, and people are occupying Wall Street, banks are corrupt, the economy is going down the tubes and Americans are frustrated. In 2007, when Steve left Texas in pursuit of bigger and better things, I began federal contracting. To my surprise, after only 90 days in the process, I received my first government contract. To no avail, I went from bank to bank looking to secure funding. Although I passed the initial interviews and analysis, and had a government contract in hand, my request was still denied. Reluctantly, I headed to Washington, DC. to satisfy the terms of my contract and remain in good standing with the federal government. To survive, I borrowed money from friends and family and sold items on eBay. I refused to allow the poor lending practices of big banks to deter my entrepreneurial dreams. Recently I decided to leave Chase, Capital One and Citi because they acted poorly in overseeing my financial future. I thought an average balance of $25K and a half-million in sales would at least warrant me a dedicated banking officer. I was wrong. Today, I bank with Cornerstone Credit Union in Lancaster Texas. They were ecstatic that a defense contractor was moving to their bank. My decision to move to a smaller bank was based solely upon the advice that Steve Harvey gave his listeners years ago--patron small banks because the big banks are not willing to work with businesses who make 70 percent of the jobs in the US. Thank you Steve Harvey for showing me how to grow my business. It's comforting to know that despite your wealth, you support small businesses! Until next time Chow-baby! You don't know my situation so this was a big event for me. 1. Called in to Mz. Shyneka Hot 107.9 at the end of August and won Chris Brown tickets for his Oct 2 concert :D 2. Called a week later because I hadn't heard from to studio about a confirmation. - Told that someone would call me when tickets were ready. 3. Waited until the end of September and called twice. 1st time was told they would call when ready. 2nd time was told to pick them up the day before concert. 4. Called the day before concert, told to pick up tickets before 5 pm. I live a 1 hour plus away, already not convenient but I wanted my tickets. 5. I get there at a little after 12 pm, got told that I had won different concert tickets. Explained that I called in and answered Chris Brown questions for his concert. Was told that they would look in to it. 6. I came back at 4 pm, I didn't leave the city, just sat and waited for 3 hours. Was told that the system said something else and they had some technical(malware) issues so they couldn't pull up my radio broadcast, etc and more excuses. Then was told that they had given out ALL of the tickets and that the manager was gone. 7. I asked if I could wait... KID YOU NOT, 10 minutes later, a guy comes out with 2 tickets. Was told they didn't want to deal with me. Rude but whatever. And somehow 2 tickets magically appeared after all the tickets were given away. 8. Seating is section 222 of 226 at the state farm arena. Didn't really care because they were free. And I still had an amazing time. They may not care but they just lost 4 listeners (my family) and I will be telling my friends when they ask about the concert that I was so excited about. This isn't about the seats, just the way things went about, has soured me to this station.

I just heard some fresh tracks they laid down off of J.Tim's new album on 95.5, and I thought I was gonna crash my dope ride because I was gettin' so off the hook crazy with my dance moves. Just in case you don't get the chance to catch a jam you have been wanting to hear forever, don't worry my peeps, I guarantee they will play that same song at least 20 more times that day. Talk about one bomb diggity idea. 95.5 The Beat is basically just a radio station that puts their play-list on repeat. They also seem to hire nothing but DJs who cover topics like: What is going on in the life of Paris Hilton? If you listen to the radio station for more than 30 minutes, I can almost guarantee that half of your brain will rot away.

I grew up with 95.5 the beat. Always had the latest, hottest music. The DJs were hilarious and hip. It was a great station. Big part of my childhood and adolescence. Memories of when Outkast were still together, Ludacris was still a great rapper and Atlanta still had its own unique qualities. Too bad 95.5 is now some trash talk radio channel with the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh.
