Really cool radio station! Perfect balance of 90's, 00's, and today's r&b/rap songs. Wish we a similar station in the Bay Area!

If you don't know anything about "socialism", and the benefits it would see here especially on island, please do your research! Locals and Kanaka of Hawaii would be so thankful for universal healthcare, preschools for all children, affordable homes, rent freezes, all of which Zorhan Mamdani has fought for. He is fighting for the working class, taxing the rich and helping the people. All of which is needed here for the people. With these two bozo's you are doing yourself disservice to your listeners of this station. Shout out to the woman DJ who just chose to stay quiet about politics, she's the smartest one there.

Listening to the traffic reports reminds me of all of the roads I used to travel on when I was at home, and the sights along the roadways. Though not useful to me but still, I get a "Kick" listening to the reports. Though I love life in California, and consider it a great place to be in, I still love to have a part of home, to remember my days of growing-up in the islands. Now, with the great invention of the Internet, I am able to receive the music to remind me of my younger days. We are all fortunate to have the Internet available to make life for us so great. Gone are my days of having to go to the Hawaii stores in the area to get some cultural memories of my younger days! It is now available with a few clicks at home, or the office, computer !

Kumu- Apply named to teach many new listeners how to by…read moresound hear an era of music quickly. Yes, it is easier listening, almost all the words are easily distinctly heard. You won't hear Snow's Informer on it ever. You will likely hear a modern ballad like a Sam Smith but also a classic 80's like Soft Cell's Tainted Love classic. That is important for new listeners. Being able to hear and appreciate music from a few eras in a row and enjoy that music. Twitter blows up when Paul McCartney performs alongside a modern rapper. That they feel bad for an older male singer- but if they had listened to music on stations like KUMU they wouldn't make dumb comments immediately but appreciate music for listening sake. KUMU is easy contemporary listening, safe radio edit all the way. Is it for everyone- in general yes, that the music has such a wide variety and calm instrumentation which is heavy on vocals, it is good background music especially for an office. Easy listening/ non confrontational/ contemporary music, heavy on male and female vocals, great harmonies, easy melodies. What is unique about Kumu verses another contemporary station on the mainland is that you may hear great local female singers like Helm, Anuhea, and Na Leo, and the greatest Braddah Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I still feel that Iz could be played in a loop about 3 or 4 songs like his Over the Rainbow at a wedding, funeral, or keiki first birthday for an angry crowd waiting impatiently and after just a few bars of him- the entire mood of the crowd would be calm and relaxed- not just in Hawaii but mainland too, most wouldn't recognize his voice by name but people would connect to the universal-ness of his peaceful voice. KUMU is a good station to go to for keeping the peace on longer car rides if there is a mixed group- always some song playing that more than one person will remember and really connect with emotionally. Every now and then - they have a pop up tent playing music live or semi live, for example I've seen then play at the Art Museum and broadcast during a family event. Sometimes it is neat to see them live.

So i called and the guy that answered 808-948-9464 oct 28 at 1 said that i missed my pick up date and it was the 26th and that i needed to reschedule 2 weeks out. So we ended the call and i KNEW that wasnt true. So i checked my email and it said the 28th. So i called the same number back in less then 30 seconds and the guy answers and hangs up. I called 33 times and each time i can hear background noise then a hang up. Then the last few times it would just ring and ring. So i decided to call a different number 8089471500 and the same guy answered. So i acknowledged that he hung up on me 33 times and that i double checked my email and the time and date i arrived was correct. And now he says sarcastically "yes your right. Im sorry, were just so busy and short on workers" i told him i took time off of work and that i had an appnt so you guys should honor that. He says sarcastically again "yes yes youre right, youre right. Im sorry but the nothing i can do" theres 100000 people laid off from work and not working and your telling me you guys are short on staff? Something is not right and someone is lying here. Overall i feel this prize is a scam because story is fishy.

However, lately I find myself very disgusted by the stereotypical character named LaFonda Jenkins; who attempts to cast black females in the most derogative light possible. This has been at the least emotionally harmful and detrimental to the self esteem of young blacks and especially black females of all ages. As a member of the very small population of under represented black people here on the islands; as we are not politically connected here brings the LaFonda miss-characterization to the level of blatant racism. Jokes made at the expense of a group who has far too often been scapegoated and demeaned throughout history to the point that daily they have spend much of their days trying to over come the same images LaFonda paints of them on job interviews and or when trying to acquire housing. For example I have personally had a person tell me here in Hawaii that I am different from most blacks she has heard of. When I asked her how many black people she personally knew; I was surprised by her answer. She said "I do not know any really". However what she learned of them via radio and TV it was all bad. Thus making your Lafonda skits very egregious since for most people who rarely travel to the mainland or have opportunities to engage with black people for a reasonable amount of time have only the daily image you word paint into their minds. 96.3 you have yourselves to thank for perpetuating this myth of the black woman as a person of loose morals. A myth used long ago by white men to justify the rapes and crimes against many young black girls. Today I decided that I would not let black history month end without saying SHAME on YOU!
