One of my favorite venues to host an event, no matter how many guests I'm expecting they got us covered! Parliament and their entire staff always takes care of everything; from the initial inquiry to closing out my tab at the end of the event, they are professional, accommodating and courteous. When you walk up to Parliament you know you're about to walk into a nice space, from the red lights outside, to the privacy curtain at the door, to the mirrors and lights inside, to the stools and banquets in the sections, to the VIP area upstairs, to the clean restrooms, to the stocked bar... so nice! Highlight, parking is easy over there! Plenty is street parking all around and there's even a parking lot around the corner. Love Parliament! Book your next event there or even stop by one evening for a few drinks, you'll be happy you did

Parliaments the BEST! I've been meaning to write this review for a minute! I can't say enough good things about 811 Parliament. My friend and I rented the whole place out and cohosted our 40th birthday and it was EVERYTHING! Everyone who works there is amazingly kind and helpful. They took care of everything; drinks, lights, audio/visual, helped set up black lights we brought. We also brought our own food in and hired DJs and had the most epic reasonable timed dance party (6-10 pm with it opening to the public at 10). We had about 75-100 people there comfortably and the cost was very reasonable. Martin, the owner is incredibly accommodating and kind. Melanie was so proactive, helpful, and responsive while planning. By the end of the evening it was like we were one big family. A truly epic night that I'll never forget! Thanks Parliament team for being so amazing! Love yall!

This was my first time here. Jo's Lemon drop was amazing!! Music top tier! Service was really good.

Parliament hit different yall. The vibes, staff and space is unmatched. I had the pleasure of celebrating my 40th birthday in August and let me tell you a time was had! If you're thinking about hosting a private event, this is the perfect venue. Pricing for rental is very reasonable. Martin and Melanie were so helpful and accommodating to my needs and vision for the event. They were a great resource and were very responsive making the planning process so effortless. Parliament is an intimate space but it easily and comfortably accommodated 85 of my guests. The ambience is modern, sleek and sexy. DJ Slim and the music was top tier. The staff was on point, everyone from the bartenders to security was friendly and professional. We had the time of our lives and memories were made that last a lifetime. I am so grateful to Martin and the entire staff of Parliament for an amazing event. 100/10 Highly recommend!

The atmosphere of The Lodge is very cozy. There's a fireplace in the middle of the room across from the kitchen and the overhead lights are all a warm, amber yellow. The music on the speakers get pretty loud in some parts of the space so its not the easiest to hold a conversation without raising your voice. Like most dive bars, you place your drink order at the bar and seat yourself. Food offerings vary depending on which establishment has their pop-up setup in the kitchen that evening. Be sure to check out their Instagram page to get the most up to date info on food. During our visit, Saap Saap Culture was serving up delicious fried chicken and egg rolls plates. As for drinks, my wife and I tried out two of their hot toddy's and we really enjoyed them -- absolutely perfect for the cold 40 degree winter weather outside. I also tried out their Modelo Chelada Michelada and ounce-wise, it was a ton of beer. Taste-wise, it was nothing special. The free pop-corn machine in the back was broken during our visit so we didn't have a chance to try it out. Overall, pretty chill dive bar that I wouldn't mind stopping by again. I like that they take card in addition to cash, and the bartender serving us during our visit was friendly. 3.5 rounded up to a 4.

Can't quite describe it but it didn't feel like an SF bar, felt more open and like a community watering whole. On to the food and drinks. I'm vegetarian so was so excited to try the dogs - which are vegan. And I may be biased but you cannot tell that you're missing out on anything with all the flavor packed combos. The bun was fluffy and soft and you have multiple fun themed options to choose from. My partner and I ended up getting the deli dog and truffle meltdown. Deli was perfect - classic mix of spice and crunch with the spicy brown mustard and giardiniera peppers. And the truffle meltdown was so savory and decadent - totally different flavor profiles from each dog! We were only going to grab one drink but the menu was so inventive we ended up getting two. I ordered the banana hammock (which comes with a fire show) and espresso martini slushee which was is up there with the frozen Irish coffees I've had in New Orleans. Man writing this has my mouth watering... definitely coming back for more dogs, drinks, and vibes!

I've heard all the hype about Tallboy, so I had to check it out myself…read more I do think it lived up to some of the hype, but I think they could've used their space better. It is a unique layout to a bar, and probably better concept for earlier hours, when it isn't as crowded during the night. It can fill up really quickly, since the area to order a drink, dance, and mingle is narrow, since the bar is literally in the middle of the room. Some of the staff can be extremely nice and kind, and there are some who you can tell are fed up, upset, and don't have the best attitude. I get it, though. It's a cool bar to check out or be the first stop of the night. The djs they have always turn up. Good luck getting a drink under 15 minutes though!

I visited La Loulou several months ago and wanted to give it some time before writing a review…read more After recently having a wonderful experience at another wine bar, I realized the difference in hospitality was too significant not to mention. I really wanted to like this place. I'd walked by several times and loved the interior design, and the videos on Instagram made it seem like such a great spot. I stopped in one evening by myself, ordered a glass of wine and the warm olives (which were delicious), and was looking forward to a relaxing night. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. The restaurant was packed, and the atmosphere felt more concerned with maintaining an image than making guests feel welcome. I understand some restaurants embrace a more reserved European style of service, but this came across as cold and pretentious rather than intentional hospitality. As a solo diner especially, I didn't feel acknowledged or valued as a guest. It also didn't help that the dining room had a noticeable body odor smell that took away from the experience. On a positive note, the bathroom was clean and beautifully designed. I originally thought this would become my go-to place to grab a glass of wine while waiting for a table at the ramen spot next door, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Reading through other reviews, it seems I'm not the only one who had this impression. Oakland's charm has always been its people. You can open a French-inspired wine bar, but hospitality translates into every language. If you're going to bring a Parisian aesthetic to Oakland, don't mistake indifference for sophistication. Guests should leave feeling welcomed, not judged.

And that is saying something because I never take pictures of bathrooms for reviews lol. The food is just as pretty as the decor. Every plate we ordered came out looking beautiful. The 4 stars is really because although the food looks pretty, I would say everything tastes okay, nothing really stood out particularly in taste. If this review was based on food tastes alone, and not looks, vibes, and the great show, it would've been 3 stars. The flautas were a bit too hard for me. Ive had way better flautas at El Torito's in San Leandro. Although there were only like 6 of us total in the audience for the show, it was still really enjoyable. The host, Tony Parker has great energy, and a lot of the comics (I think were like 5 or 6) had us laughing throughout. No one was safe lol. All in all, a really cute place for date night and comedy show. Apparently they have them Sunday-Thursday nights, and they're free!
